This is a great place to explore and enjoy. I don't go there often but you should check it out if you are in the area.

The Civic Centre is a truly impressive building with great details on both the exterior and interior. The central dome is very imposing with great use of light. Unfortunately, I missed the tour - I am sure there is very interesting history attached to the building and its decoration.

Civic Center is majestic with the classical construction reminiscent of our DC Capitol building. The square is beautiful, surrounded by the Asian Museum, Library and Opera. Wonderful area with period architecture. Great places to visit! Enjoy...

Very informative tour. and it's free although a donation is accepted. Look online to find times the tours are. Although the tour is on several floors, there are elevators. fun info.

The interior of City Hall is spectacular. It's open during usual business hours and is well worth stepping into. In the South Court, there are interesting exhibits. It's a favorite spot for marriages (all genders to all genders) so you may step into a celebration

If you're walking around San Francisco, you're likely to come across this - and it's a fine building that can be viewed from many different locations. Beautiful rotunda.

Fully renovated since 1989, looks great and is largely open to walk throughs on week days. Great viewing of the dome. Tuesday afternoons Board of Supervisors meetings are open to the public and always well visited and interesting. In the last few years the city has created brilliant lighting to spotlight city events.

The beautiful Main library is right behind it with the amazing Asian art museum. In front of it you will find the Opera House... More

It's a slightly strange town San Fran with more a series of neighborhoods than a city Centre This is reflected in the key arts centers and civic Centre being grouped together which is not necessarily on the tourist path Some key organization and buildings for arts and architecture lovers to be found here

Neighborhood Profile
Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things government and performance-related in the city. Although its streets are best walked during daytime, numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz center offer year round entertainment within the shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold tipped dome of City Hall.
