Nice Iconic Building.

This stop was part of our tour. It was a nice view. It appeared really nice for picture-taking purposes.

Despite the recent gentrification, this area is still pretty rough and prone to crime. Be careful when you out there at night.

The rotunda of the City Hall is a must-see. I would recommend going to the Civic Center with a tour guide, as there are many pertinent and interesting details to learn, which will greatly enhance the experience.

Always enjoy visiting the City Civic Center even on business...there is usually numerous happy wedding occasions in process and the Rotunda Dome is magnificent with the beautiful sweeping staircase and during the holiday season a delightfully decorated Christmas Tree....tours of the building available.

This is one of the gems of the city. There are weddings all day in the main hall. This landmark was restored during the Mayorship of Willie Brown in the 80's. Lovely building and daily tours (free).

I've lived in the Civic Center area for 10 years now and this area seems to never change . The part of San Francisco has some great sites to see including City Hall, SF Ballet,/ Opera House, Davis Symphony Hall, and Herbst Theater, unfortunately there are other not so nice sites in this area too. Right behind City Hall there... More

This is a great place to explore and enjoy. I don't go there often but you should check it out if you are in the area.

The Civic Centre is a truly impressive building with great details on both the exterior and interior. The central dome is very imposing with great use of light. Unfortunately, I missed the tour - I am sure there is very interesting history attached to the building and its decoration.

Civic Center is majestic with the classical construction reminiscent of our DC Capitol building. The square is beautiful, surrounded by the Asian Museum, Library and Opera. Wonderful area with period architecture. Great places to visit! Enjoy...

Very informative tour. and it's free although a donation is accepted. Look online to find times the tours are. Although the tour is on several floors, there are elevators. fun info.

Neighborhood Profile
Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things government and performance-related in the city. Although its streets are best walked during daytime, numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz center offer year round entertainment within the shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold tipped dome of City Hall.
