A very nice place to go shopping, all kinds of shops to choose from. Wonderful people to help you, and great places to have lunch.

We went to two movies at different theatres at the Embaracadero Centre. One was a larger theater and the other much smaller. Both had very comfortable seating which provided unobstructed viewing. Being able to purchase wine or beer to enjoy while viewing the movie was a nice option.

This is right next to the Hyatt Regency and seems to be the international place to come. There are street stalls lining the road up to here and there is a statue in honour of Abraham Lincoln. There is a side street with all all these restaurants - there is Thai Fod, There is curry with crepes. There is Crystal... More

A nice way to walk along the waterfront and see everything from both land and water...the grand towering skyscrapers, the piers, the people, the shops...nice to do.

Embarcadero Center is very much a work week / business day shopping centre, but there are some good entertainment and dining options after hours. In the title I say dead after hours, but I sort of mean that as a good thing. If you are local and you want a place to have a nice walk on a brisk winter... More

Go visit the center and enjoy the tall buildings. If you plan to shop and eat, plan to eat early as the Restuarants do not stay open very late.

The Embarcadero Center is a complex of five tower blocks in the financial district of San Francisco. Its also encompasses boutique shopping, dining and entertainment. Maybe it aims to be cool but I preferred Union Square.

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
