Went out on Theotokos for the tenth time this season yesterday morning at 6:00 with two fishing buddies, Drew at the helm and Craig as Mate.
Great weather and once again Drew got us on bait quickly. He had to go several miles offshore, but for the first time this year Drew got on mackerel, which have almost exclusively been way out on Stellwagen this season.
In any event, Drew put us right on the macks and we jigged up about a hundred in fifteen minutes with Craig’s assistance getting them into the livewell. By 7:00 a.m. the livewell was full and we were off to the races to find stripers. Once we got back inshore, Drew got us right over a motherload of migrating stripers. With Craig’s characteristically helpful and expert direction and assistance, by 8:10 a.m. we all
1) had landed seven slots, with two released and the boat’s maximum of five caught, bled out and put in the box on ice; and
2) had landed and released three stripers too big to keep, including 45 and 42-1/2 inchers and one 38 inches long. What a morning!!
We then moved around to sever inshore venues, giwhere all of us snagged pogies and caught more small slots, all of which were successfully released, and where one of my buddies caught the biggest bluefish (37 inches and about 17 pounds) to add to the box.
When we got back to the dock at noon, we all had XXXX-eating grins on our faces and thanked Drew and Craig for another incredible morning of striper fishing with Boston Fishing Charters aboard the good ship Theotokos!!!

Captain Pat and his first mate, Jack were awesome hosts yesterday, despite it being a rain soaked Saturday afternoon. We spent four hours in the harbor searching every nook and cranny for the elusive Striper but they were stubborn and uncooperative until the Captain and his able mate pulled a few tricks from their sleeves. The determined captain wasn’t going to allow my 10-year old grandson go home empty handed and he didn’t! Max pulled in two good sized Stripers and was thrilled beyond his years! Thank you Pat and Jack for a super day.

Fishing with Boston fishing charters is always outstanding. Captain Mike is an outstanding Captain. His fleet and his mates are second to none. We all were most impressed with landing a giant 82 inch Blue Fin Tuna. The captain has a commercial license as well as making available, recreational tuna under 72”.
I have been on both, tuna trips and striped bass trips always producing fish. I highly recommend if you are in the Boston area to look them up. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you captain Mike for a trip of a lifetime for me and a group of my co-workers.

We did the sunset tour and it was more of a boat ride than an actual fishing trip. We had 6 guest on the boat and after two hours, only two had touched a rod for about 5 -10 min. each. The Captain and his crew mate however fished the entire time and said they were teaching us different techniques. That could have been the case if they got us involved, let us do some fishing, but instead they just enjoyed their afternoon of fishing and forget the people who paid. At one point, all 6 guest were at the front of the boat waiting and waiting, and I finally said, "What are we doing here" - he replied with "I am fishing, what are you doing?"...of which my reply was "Well, not fishing."...it had been 2 1/2 hours and I still hadn't touched a rod. We had two experienced fishermen with us and they were extremely disappointed. They have been on several others and this was the worst. Fine if you are looking for a boat ride but don't think this is a fishing experience. They allowed 6 people on board and never had more than 3 fishing at once (this includes when 2 of the crew held rods and then they allowed one paying person to hold one). I paid $600 for 4 people and this was the worst tour we had been on the entire trip. Everyone else gets 5 stars.

I am now in my second year as a client, and have been out with these folks a total of five times, two of them this year. I’ve booked nine more trips for this season, and intend to book as many on top of that!
By way of qualification, I began fishing for stripers in 1960, at Quansoo on Martha’s Vineyard when I was ten yeas old. And caught my first striper that night on a Kastmaster with bucktail. I’ve continued to pursue the noble saxillis morone for sixty-four years, from quiet shores to roaring surf to jetties and creeks and rivers where they emptied into the sea.
That said, why Boston Fishing Charters given all the other charter options? Because: 1) these folks have managed to put me and my buds on top of live bait with great consistency, and 2) they have also put me on top of keepers (and often MUCH larger stripers) with similar consistency,
Plus, if you have the personality and capacity to listen, especially to what the Mate (and also the Captain) advise, and to do as they suggest, you will be privileged to learn a great deal about striper fishing and catching. I learn from these knowledgeable, skilled, experienced, respectful and professional, commercial fishermen (most of whom may be younger than you — so suck it up) on every trip!
In other words, these folks are very pleasant to fish with, andreally know WTF they are doing! And the boats are well maintained and provide stable, excellent fishing platforms.

Capt Drew and 1stMate Jack were excellent, put us on the fish, some huge fish, and we learned from them. We will be back.
We took a group of teenagers and they had a fantastic time. I saw the one neg review but seeing what they do, which was to put us right on the fish and not just go to the swarm of other boats, and they actively set up the gear which was a good thing, they were working to set the lure and bait right at the fish. It was great, we caught several we put back since they were over the size limit because of their attention.
We used lures when there was no bait, then fished a bait pile and then brought on several more with great fights, and Drew and Jack were right there coaching or helping. The boys soaked up the whole experience.
The vessel was clean and in great condition.
Not one complaint about the whole day. Thanks guys

Highly recommend. Captain Pat and 1st Mate Jonathan know how to find the fish and more importantly get them in the boat. Had an excellent time. Great people to fish with. Trust me you won’t regret booking with them.

Thank you @BostonFishingCharters for a wonderfull day fishing.
Mom and 4 teenagers had fun.
The waiting to catch the Tuna Fish was all worth it.
Great crew and music.
The pick up us at the Legal Horborside Dock and we were staing in a hotel near by.

This was a truly wonderful fishing trip with Captain Jon and his mate Mike. They could not have been more pleasant, but what is more, they know how to fish. First, we went to Winthrop harbor and snagged a bunch of pogies for bait. I am guessing we caught about 40 of them. They were actually a lot of fun to catch and fought harder than their modest size would suggest. Then, we went for the stripers. I caught 8 or more stripers (I sort of lost count.), and beat my personal best three times! My personal best up to then was about 33 inches. First I caught a 36 inch striper, later I caught a 43 inch striper, then as we were about to call it a day, we hit a bunch of fish. I am not sure how many I brought in, but I ended up bringing in two (YES, I said 2) 50 inch stripers. Check out the pictures below. I can not recommend these guys highly enough. To Jon and Mike, I say, I can't wait to see you next season.

Captain Jonathan and first mate were excellent. Very skilled and accommodative in helping us find Striped Bass. The boat was perfect for our needs and we landed 5 beautiful fish. He taught us tricks and techniques that we will be sure to use next time out. We will be back! Thanks for a great experience
