Experience a half-day or full day climb with Maine’s original and most respected climbing school. Acadia Mountain Guides is one of the most sought out leaders of climbing instruction and guide education in the US. We specialize in designing unique, personalized climbing experiences for all ages and abilities on the scenic shores of Acadia and throughout Maine! Join us for a healthy and fun activity that is guaranteed to be a highlight of your vacation. All equipment is provided. Unlike other local seasonal climbing services, guiding is our profession! We guide year round on rock, snow, and ice. 100% of our staff are independently trained and certified above national guiding and medical standards set by the American Mountain Guides Association and the Professional Climbing Instructors Association. AMGCS has the distinction of being the only school in Maine to be dually accredited by both the AMGA and the PCIA. AMG has been under the same consistent ownership since opening in 1993. The owner, Jon Tierney, began guiding in 1983 in Acadia and is one of a handful of Americans to earn the International Federation of Mountain Guides Association (IFMGA) guide license. The IFMGA license is the PhD of guiding and requires full AMGA certification as a rock, alpine and ski mountaineering guide. We look forward to meeting you on the rocks!

My boyfriend and I went out climbing with Alex Scuterud as our guide. We had the best day. Alex is knowledgable, encouraging, and all around great rock climber! He helped us push ourselves and was ready with a different plan when I was terrified of repelling. I can't wait to use this company again next year. Thank you for an... More

Brian and Chelsea were awesome! We had a group of 12 -ages 7-48. All different levels of skill. Our guides were attentive, informative and great with kids. Definitely recommend this place we booked two months earlier. We did the morning climb and enjoyed every bit!!!

Had and amazing time with Brian and Paddy! They were able to accommodate all skill levels for our family of 6. It's was fun and thrilling and both guides were calm with a great sense of humor that made the whole afternoon a wonderful experience! Would highly recommend!

Our family of 6, including kids age 6, 8, 11 & 12, all had a great time climbing with Andrew. None of us had ever climbed before and the site we went to provided enough of a range of challenges for all of us - from the daredevils in the group to those with some fear of heights. He was... More

After seeing all the positive reviews, I knew my family would want to try this -- it did NOT disappoint! Andrew was an incredible guide -- down to earth, encouraging, informative, and able to put all of us at ease. We had 4 kids and my wife and I -- all of us with only minimal exposure to rock climbing... More

Our family visits Acadia every year and we decided to try a rock climbing lesson this time for something different. A fun time was had by all! Alex had a great attitude and was patient with my 12, 10 and 9 year old children. I particularly appreciated his extra diligence around safety. We would do it again!

Our first family rock climbing experience was awesome! Our climbing instructor,Mark, was extremely knowledgeable, fun, personable and patient--just perfect for our family. He made it fun for all of us despite our different climbing abilities. Thanks for an unforgettable experience!

They always had tips for all of us newbies...To top it off, we climbed right beside the ocean...it was beautiful! We had a great experience and definitely want to do it again!!

We arranged our first rock climbing experience with Acadia Mountain Guides because of its reputation for professionalism in managing expectations, motivations, fears and desires. Zak, our guide, was not only an accomplished climber, but he skillfully dealt with our apprehensions in a most sensitive and empathetic way. His pre-climb orientation was concise yet reassuring. His guidance and encouragement on the... More

Nancy, Thank you for the review and I will pass your praises on to Zak. Clients should have very high expectations of quality from their guide and att AMG it's fair to say that even our interns, who often assist with large groups and summer camps, possess skills equal to or greater that many other instructors. We take pride in... More
