Acadia Photo Safaris are hands-on nature photography tours conducted in Acadia National Park and led by Howie Motenko, a local, professional photographer. Every photo safari explores camera setting choices, creating compelling and engaging compositions and developing a photographic awareness enabling you to capture Acadia's natural beauty. All photographers and all skill levels (beginner and beyond) are taught in a small, intimate group (limited to 6 participants) during our 3-hour photography tour. Safaris are offered in the mornings, afternoons or evenings to suit your schedule.

I took the sunset tour along with three other individuals. By happenstance, each of us already had experience shooting in manual and have owned/used dSLRs for some time. Howie was great and customized the tour to a more advanced level for us. He shared tips...More

Howie was so kind and super laid back. He took the time to explain the why and then gave lots of opportunity to experiment and help us with why our pictures may have not turned out. My son (13 years old) was the one who...More

I signed up for Night time safari. Unfortunately, clouds prevented us from capturing the Milky Way. However, we spent the time learning about blue hour and how to set settings for stars. It was amazing! He was so patient and took time for everyone. I...More

I had always admired night-time photos of the Milky Way galaxy, and believed them to be far beyond my skills. Then I took advantage of the night-time Milky Way panorama workshop; between classroom and supervised preparation, (not to mention on-site guidance) I was able to...More
