We wandered through the Village Green while in town after visiting the park, and had a fun time people-watching and simply enjoying the evening. This is the social hub of town, so it's surrounded by shops and restaurants, and there's a lively thrum of activity. Parking can be difficult to find, though.

Small green in the center of Bar Harbor. There are numerous restaurants and shops to see around here. Walk down the tree-lined streets as well to see some beautiful houses.

If you are visiting Barr Harbor from a cruise ship as we did and not having booked a tour from the ship we were delighted to come upon the village green, make your way up the main street to the village green, there it is surrounded by shops and cafes, the National Park rangers office is there where you can purchase a pass to enter the Park and the buses are there to take you into the Park,

Since i was young, we would spread out on the plush lawn, get some shade and have some lunch, We enjoyed the views and everyone was spread out nicely.

You can sit here and see for miles in almost every direction. We were very fortunate to have a clear day which made the views great.

The Village Green is an easy short walk from the cruise ship area and from many of the inns. It is the heart of this small town and deserves a few minutes of your time and attention. Sit on a bench with an ice cream cone or a hot chocolate and absorb the rhythm of the area. This is also where the free bus the Island Explorer leaves town on the various routes.

With the bandstand in the middle (that has a marching band weekly in the summer), a fountain and open shaded space, there are few better places to relax with an ice cream after a hike.

We recently visited Bar Harbor for a vacation...2nd time. Loved it once again. We made it back to Village Green which is right by the ocean and main happening area for Bar Harbor. Lots of people laying in the grass, reading, relaxing or playing with children. Very big, so even when crowed, you are not right on top of each other. Love the views of the harbor and ships. Hotel right off of this park offers lunch and dinner, drinks and appetizers.

Right in town, among tall trees you can sit down and just people watch. The day we were there, the wind blew through those tall trees and we met a local business owner who we chatted with while sitting on one of many park benches. Nice respite!

While walking all around Bar Harbor it is nice to get an ice cream cone and sit in the park people watching. There are plenty of places to sit and it does seem far from everything if your in the middle.
It's just a nice place to take a break and rest up for more walking!

How do you get to Village Green from the Cruise ship please?
Is there a shuttle or is it easy to walk please?

The Village Green is quite close to the docks but is not the docks. The docks are about 1.5 blocks away.

Many people mention the views of the water from the Village Green. I think they are talking about Agamont Park as I do not think that you can see the water from the Village Green.

Yes, I agree with Robert G. Village Green is a couple of blocks away from the water, and a nice resting place if you have spent some time browsing the shops.
