We went down as the tide was going out and walked around for a few minutes until the bridge was exposed. If you aren't familiar with tides this is a great lesson.

I recommend seeing this first at high tide to grasp how awesome this really is. We ventured there at low tide and walked across the land bridge. Seeing it later at high tide was incredible. Lots of fun, especially for kids. Easy walk to Bar...More

The kids didn't want to leave, excellent experience of exploring ocean floor. A must do while visiting Bar Harbor. Make sure you come twice to take pictures with both low and high tides.

The land bridge opens at low tide. A good strategy is to get there about an hour before low tide and follow the bridge out as it gets exposed. Turn over rocks, look for starfish, crabs, tiny shrimp, and anemones. Once across, take the walk...More

Pay attention to tidal times and catch the sandbar leading to a short hike to Bar Harbor Island. Don't forget to build with rocks and dip your feet into the ice cold ocean!

This paths gets you to Bar Island before high tide hits . Nice views , many crabs . Didn't hike on the island but would like to. Please follow instructions to leave rocks as they are and not stack and write words

I had heard about a disappearing sand bar, actually a land bridge, at Bar Harbor which leads to an island. The key to the adventure is to check the tides. You don't want to get stuck on the island for 12 hours if the tide...More

I tried to copy and paste a tide chart for you but it won't fit in this small space. You can google it though (or use another search engine). Just type in "Tide chart for Bar Harbor November 2016) and it will show you the... More

What is weather like in mid October? How would I dress? Would water shoes be good or just sneakers?
