Seeing this trail emerge from the ocean is something so unique to Bar Harbor. It is so cool that part of the day it is underwater, and part of the day it isnt. They trail is full of seashells, but can get a little slippery...More

The sand bar that appears during low tide allows you to walk over to the appropriately named Bar Island. If you choose, you can also drive your vehicle over the bar and park and then hike the trails on the island. If you do either,...More

We just walked over during low tide. We didn't do the hike on the island but I believe it was just a one mile hike.

We walked across the the bar at low tide. The trail is very nice. It climbs consistently but not too extreme - at least not for people that usually live at 5280 ft. like we do. We very much enjoyed this activity.

Bar Island is a must! Just make sure to time it right and you can hike the Summit and get great views!

if not told of this, you'd never know! Amazing to "walk on water" in low tide, then discover your "bridge" is GONE at high tide...great story to share when you get back home

Very cool walking on the bottom of the bay. Fun looking around and checking out the tide pools. A must do when in Bar Harbor.

This is a lovely, easy hike for all with breathtaking views. We crossed to Bar Island when the tide was low and hiked to the small summit with views out across Bar Harbor. We all enjoyed it immensely.
