Interesting . To see it up close, you need to take the boat trip out.
We did the Acadian Boat Tours 2 hour tour, with tickets available downtown at the Sea-Dawg gift shop.
We saw two young Bald Eagles plus a lot of seals, harbor porpoises on our boat tour.

We love light houses, so this one was extremely interesting to me. You never see a light house built right inside of a livable home like this! We took lots of photos while on our boat tour to this area, unfortunately they're on my phone and I can't upload them yet from my laptop. We also got to see lots of animal life while on this trip. It was gorgeous.

We took a boat ride to see light houses and puffins. Bring your binoculars - puffins are small. we saw several light houses and Egg rock was one. It is a bird sanctuary now. Saw seals and birds. We learned about light houses and light house keepers. Great ride I would recommend it.

I am a big time lighthouse fan, and think that Maine has some of the most photogenic and gorgeous lighthouses in the U.S., including the Portland Head Light and the Nubble.

Unfortunately, Egg Rock Light is not in the same class. It is kind of flat and looks more like a regular home than a lighthouse. It's not ugly, and it's worth a quick photo if you're doing a Frenchman Bay cruise, but it's nothing special. Given all the natural beauty in Acadia National Park, I wouldn't spend too much time on this lighthouse.

I didnt get too many good pics of the lighthouse because I was too busy watching the seals and baby eagle! I learned the lighthouse is self-sufficient, solar panels and the fog horn is activated by moisture. We went out on the Acadian Nature Cruise for a 2 hour cruise. Definitely worth seeing

I would highly recommend seeing Egg Rock Light and other lighthouses on the lighthouse sightseeing cruise given by Bar Harbor Whale Watching Company. You can buy tickets at the docks. The guides are so informative, and you really get some great views of the lighthouses and photo opps. Also a great overview of Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park and summer cottages.

we have taken many tours to visit lighthouses and this one was one of the best...good boat, great naturalist on board, beautiful water and sky and the closeness to the lighthouses for
pictures were spectacular....cannot say enough about the crew and wish we could have done
twice

Perfect trip for 5&8 year old. Lobster & Seals. Two hours on the boat was just right. Explained everything about lobsters while bringing up several traps and then slowly went around island watching seals. Great fun!

What a beautiful piece of history. Everything looks so well preserved or you can tell that the people have taken great care of the light houses. You can see many seals in the water as well as up on the rocks around the light houses. It's breath taking. The seals are ginormous! Very friendly and curious to what you are doing. I would definitely recommend seeing these.
