Acadia Stand Up Paddle Boarding offers guided tours, instruction, and rentals on the beautiful lakes and calm bays of Mount Desert Island. Located in downtown Bar Harbor our retail store offers a wide variety of paddle boards for sale as well as swimwear and beach lifestyle accessories. All programs are led by certified professional instructors/guides. Due to the small group nature of our program offerings, please note our strict 24 hour cancellation policy.

An excellent activity during a time of social distancing. Our guide Nell was great -- she took the time to show us the correct way to paddle (contrary to one previous experience) and had us standing on the water in no time. Under the company's Covid policy, they are only taking out one family unit but at the same rate, so my wife and I basically had a private experience for the same cost as a group of 8. The water was clear and calm, and we saw and heard Loons. It was the highlight of my week in Bar Harbor.
Reserving a time was easy, the directions were clear and we followed Nell right to the lake. I would highly recommend this experience for anyone in the Bar Harbor area.

We were originally looking for a kayak tour, but couldn't find one with openings, and stumbled upon Acadia Stand Up Paddeboarding. A blessing in disguise!
We had never paddleboarded before. Our guide/instructor Chris was patient and excellent in getting us up and going. My 8 year old son had a blast.
The lake where we paddled was tranquil, beautiful, and the water was warm. We couldn't have asked for a better morning.
In contrast to kayaking, my back felt great and I enjoyed the active standing position of the paddleboard, and can't wait to do it again.
The store was also very accommodating. They rescheduled us proactively due to rain and we really appreciated it.

Acadia SUP was one of the best things about our recent trip to Acadia and Mount Desert Island, and not just for the beautiful scenery and calm, uncrowded waters of Bar Harbor but our friendly and knowledgeable guide Nell, the quality equipment, and the easy, no-hassle experience. They even have a nice building and sharp merch. As Chicagoans, we regularly paddle on Lake Michigan and inland lakes in Wisconsin and Michigan, but we had never paddled on the ocean before and were a bit anxious about it. We need not have worried. We were treated to glassy water and Nell gave us clear and valuable instruction before beginning and as we set out. She also made pleasant conversation during our paddle when we wanted to talk but was never gabby or intrusive, and she matched our pace to ours. The boards and paddles were in great shape and easy to handle. And the water was spectacular. We even saw a bald eagle! What a way to experience coastal Maine! So much better and freer and more peaceful than the large groups of kayakers taking off from the sandbar around the same time. I would highly recommend this to any visitor who is curious, in decent shape, and has a sense of adventure.

This was a wonderful experience! Everything from booking the reservation to the paddle boarding day was great!! Our guide, Nell, was exceptional! She was patient and encouraging! My young adult kids got the hang of it right away! I was a bit more challenging. Nell was very kind and let me go at my own pace.
The only thing I would recommend is larger wet suits for us plus size people!
Other than that, an absolute must do in Bar Harbor!!

My 14 year old and I had a great time paddle board with Chris. Unbeknownst to us all tours are private due to COVID concerns/precautions. Due to predicted wind we did not do a harbor tour as planned instead Chris took us to a nearby creek.Very private and safe. Lots of wildlife and beauty. Chris is friendly and engaged us in great conversation about the area, the wildlife and LIFE in general over the two hours. He was mindful personal concerns recovering from recent ACL surgery.

My boys (8 and 10) and I did a private stand up paddle boarding lesson with Nell. We had a fantastic experience! None of us had paddle boarded before and Nell was super patient with the kids as they figured out how to steer the board. The boys loved learning the tricks she taught us on the boards. I especially loved how our youngest excelled at the tricks. Its not often that being the littlest is an advantage. We went out on Echo Lake on a cool, cloudy day in early September and I was pleasantly surprised at how warm the water was. I highly recommend this family friendly experience! It was a highlight of our trip to Acadia.

We were a bit apprehensive since it was a chilly, 50’s, morning in late August. The wetsuits immediately take off the chill and in fact, make you feel warm and comfy. The owner Chris, also our guide, was so professional, so incredibly knowledgable and informative. Not only did we receive a terrific paddleboarding lesson but also a deep narrative about the geological and ecological processes that formed the fjord, the sound and the surrounding mountains and Acadia. What a wonderful morning learning to paddleboard in Somes Sound. This was one of our most memorable experiences when visiting Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island.

Our family ages from 24 to nearly 60 years old had the best time with Mike as our guide. He cared about our safety and was great dealing with people of different skill levels. Would highly recommend this activity with this company! We did the Echo Lake tour with lovely warm water.

Weather doesn't matter.... Chris took us to Long Pond during a rainy day and we were the only ones on the lake.
He found us great areas that the wind wasn't hitting so the water was smooth. We did 2 miles and had a great time.
Chris was knowledgeable about Acadia and paddle boarding. All of us learned key pb'ing techniques and no one fell in.... although we were soaked from the rain.

Thanks guys! That was such a fun trip even with the rain and ya'll were so great to chat and joke around with. Glad you found the 'guide selfie" on your phone with all the other pics. 😆

My daughter and I were the only ones for the Echo Lake sunset paddle on July 14! Lee and Mike were awesome teachers. Mike had my daughter doing all sorts of cool tricks on the paddleboard, and it was our first time on them!
