This is by far a great service provided by the park. We were picked up at our camp site and brought back they take you to the town of Bar Harbor. From that point one has to transfer to the location in Arcadia you wish...More

The Island Explorer is a wonderful way to get around Desert Island. Parking at many of the hiking venues and beaches gets filled up very quickly, especially in the height of the season (August). And if you are heading into Bar Harbor for dinner? Definitely...More

I understand that the bus service in this park is new. It's free and convenient. There are areas in Acadia that are extremely busy without room for all the vehicles- the busses are the answer! I think that they just need a few more busses...More

We used this service a few times and wish I would have used it more. It is free, convenient and you don't have to worry about parking issues. We found if you parked your car in one area and hiked you could pick up the...More

Rode this bus all over Bar Harbor and Acadia. This is a free service that picks you up at your hotel or downtown, running all over the Island. Friendly drivers.

Free. What more can I say. Run every 30 minutes. Different bus lines go everywhere. Very easy to use. Drivers friendly and helpful.

I like the fact that they are doing this bus transportation so people can get to where they want to. But every time we went on a bus, all the seats were taken and we had a stand. Also, you barely had any space to...More

Hello and thank you for your kind words. You are correct that, particularly in the middle weeks of August and at busy travel times of the day, Island Explorer buses can become crowded. We put extra buses on the road at these times but it...More

I am so grateful for the free transportation offered by Island Explorer (free will donations were accepted and I tried to give a few dollars each time I rode the bus). Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park definitely have traffic and parking issues and having...More

We were really concerned about driving our RV around Park Road given the warnings for low clearance coupled with limited parking and/or no RV parking. So while I thought the bus would be a good option I didn't expect it to be incredibly convenient. We...More

Our policy is as follows: Well behaved leashed or crated pets are welcome on buses but not on the seats (not on your lap on the seats). We have zero tolerance of ill-behaved pets. Paul Murphy Executive Ditector
