Downeast Windjammer Cruises

A morning, afternoon or sunset sail with legendary Downeast Windjammer Cruises is fun for the whole family. Each offers a leisurely sail among the island of Frenchman Bay aboard one of two historic schooners: the twin-masted *Bailey Louise Todd* and the 151-foot *Margaret Todd*, the first four-masted schooner to work New England waters in over half a century.

Guests can view Acadia National Park from the sea, watch lobster men hauling their traps, see the bay's abundant wildlife, have a picnic, or just relax on the spacious decks of these historic sailing vessels.

There are three trips daily, each approximately 1.5 to 2 hours long.

All cruises are dog friendly.

For a different adventure take a ride on one of our ferries from Bar Harbor to the other side of Acadia National Park to Schoodic.

I took the morning wildlife cruise. My dog was welcome to join me. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The captain provided a very knowledgeable and entertaining narrative. I recommend this bay tour to everyone.

The cruise and views were absolutely beautiful but we were not prepared for the fact that it would be in the 50's out on the water in August. Everyone on the boat was bundled together to try and stay warm. Fingertips were tingling and numb by the end and being chilled to the bone sort of took away from the... More

I sailed on the sunset cruise with my son, husband, father, and mother. We had a lovely cruise. It was absolutely beautiful and the crew were top notch. We motored out of the harbor and then stopped to put up the sails. They asked for volunteers to help raise the sails. Then, the motor was cut and we were under... More

We had a beautiful experience on this ship. You could help raise sails or sit back and enjoy the beauty of the water. Cruise is only 2 hours and that is long enough. Only water is sold on board but a perk is that you can bring your own adult beverages.

1 hour 10 minutes. Not worth $125 for 2 adults 1 teenager. No tour, no food , no drinks. Beautiful scenery. Can get from dock for free.

Basic ferry boat (swim club chairs bolted to deck 😊) allows bikes at no extra charge. Crew was helpful and Galen even gave us tips on where to eat lunch. We had a great time biking around Schoodic and using the free Island Explorer bus. Wonderful day trip for only $24 per person round trip. On the return ferry the... More

Thank you for writing such an inspiring review. Winter Harbor and the Schoodic Peninsula are a great day trip destination. We are also very proud of our crew we have assembled this year with their knowledge of the Bar Harbor/Winter Harbor area and professionalism. We look forward to cruising with you in the future. I went on their sunset cruise last night and it was wonderful! Great staff, beautiful four-masted schooner, and gorgeous views of the harbor. So incredibly worth it! I will definitely go again next time I'm in Bar Harbor, maybe for the morning or afternoon sail, but the sunset photos I was able to get were beautiful!

My husband and I took the 2PM cruise on the Margaret Todd, a 4 masted schooner. A beautiful but windy day; glad we brought our fleece jackets. The crew were friendly and answered questions about the boats and some people helped raise the sails. While we did not see any wildlife during our 2 1/2 hour cruise, the sights were... More
