No longer in Bar Harbor as of May 2021! Moved 2.5 hours N to Eastport, Maine! We planned our trip Summer 2020 for Summer 2021, but when we called to make reservations for Diver Ed in Bar Harbor, found out per his website that he moved as of May 2021! Since we stayed near Acadia, we were not able to make the 2.5 hr trip north to see Diver Ed. Disappointed. I'm sure that it would have been the highlight of our trip.

Diver Ed is now in Eastport, Maine. Diver Ed and Capt Evil will teach you what lives in the ocean. They will get everyone involved in learning about the ocean. Diver Ed will walk around in a dive suit while Capt Evil tell you about everything he is seeing. Diver Ed will then bring up a catch for everyone to touch and see. So enjoyable. Capt Butch and crew will take you out in the Bay. They are the best.

Extremely fun family kid friendly educational boat tour not found anywhere else. Kids can interact a lot with crew members and touch sea creatures.
Diver ed dive down with mini-ed and under water camera. Captain evil narrates and tell stories. Kids get to see on real time tv how diver Ed find crab, lobster, sea star, sand dollar, sea cucumber, and mini-Ed will catch them and bring them up aboard for kids to touch and feel them. And it’s very educational.
Highly recommend to family with kids!

This was a fun couple of hours. If you’re a bit prim and don’t like butt jokes… it’s not for you. We found it hilarious! The video of Diver Ed getting the various creatures was wonderful, and all of us enjoyed handling the creatures afterwards. Highly recommend for kids 12 and under.

Diver Ed and Captain Evil were so much fun! The boat trip was a fun experience especially if you have younger kids (5-12?), older folks, or those that are mobility challenged. Great live video as Diver Ed collects specimens from the sea, and then brings them back to see up close on the boat!
The boat itself is well covered but not completely enclosed. Be sure to dress for the weather but you should be able to stay dry.
Fun way to learn about the sealife in the area!

Diver Ed is highly entertaining! — we had lots of laugh-out-loud moments learning about the cold but rich waters off of Maine. The camera work is excellent, and the opportunity to touch the marine life was so much fun for adults and children alike. We were educated without knowing it. Note that Dive Ed is NOT in Bar Harbor, but in Eastport, which is about 2-1/2 hours east of Bar Harbor.

Fabulous trip with our 7 and 9 year old kids today. It was super fun for all. It’s basically a kid-centric educational tour about sea creatures found in the harbor. Diver Ed dives down and live feeds video onto a big screen and you can see the creatures on the sea floor and he gathers them, brings them up and then the kids gather round and he teaches about them and everyone can touch and experience them. Super funny and good with the kids, my kids were super engaged.
I would say best for ages 4-12 and their families, but my husband and I really enjoyed it too. The boat deck is covered, so I would think it’s good even in not great weather. I would highly recommend.

We highly recommend Diver Ed's for everyone! We went with younger children ages 5 and 6 and we all had a blast. The boat ride itself was beautiful. Diver Ed is hilarious and we loved seeing him dive and getting to meet the sea animals.

This was are second time out with Diver Ed and Diver Ed does not disappoint. This is the ideal adventure for families with children or grandchildren. Our 12 year old granddaughter had as much fun as our 4 year old grandson. Diver Ed makes learning about the sea creatures fun. He has a sense of humor all the kids love. Don't miss this opportunity for your kids. Probably wouldn't do this with just adults

This is an amazing trip to do for grownups, and especially kids. You will see things you don’t normally get to experience, you will 100% get to learn something that you didn’t know before. You will laugh and be entertained from the moment you get onboard to the moment you get back on land. This 2 hour event will be the coolest thing you do in Bar Harbor Maine.

We are trying to decide between this and a bar harbor whale watching trip. Our boys are 9 and 12 which one would give us the most bang for our buck?
Written July 9, 2019
Do this. Whale watching is fun, but out of Bar Harbor, it's a long way out to the whales.

We are 2 adults interested in taking this trip but will not have any kids with us. Will be be out of place?

Diver Ed’s humor is really geared towards kids, but his wife is there to explain things to everyone. As and adult, I definitely learned a lot!

It’s about 2 hours. 15/20 minutes out & 15/20 back and about an hour and change anchored and enjoying the fun.

My whole family is coming to Bar Harbor end of July 2017. Grandchildren will be 6,8,12,13,15,17 but we have one that will only be 18 months there are 16 of us. Is it appropriate for the youngest to come along on this adventure?

Is this safe/not cruel on the animals? Id love to do this but i don't want to cause the animals stress?! FindingDory just made that worse! thank you
Written September 22, 2016
Diver Ed handles the animals and so do the children very kindly and safely. He places them back in the water afterwards.
