First biplane trip!

Had a great flight with Steve. Nice views and a little fun with a bit of a "roll"! We were asked if we were up for a little excitement and it was fabulous!

Right up there with the Whale Watch boat ride, the Air Tour of the island was one of our favorite activities of the whole vacation. We took the Cesna (sp) not the bi-plane to get great pictures. Great fun

Glad you enjoyed your flight. Next time, give the Biplane or the Glider a go. Both will accomodate two passengers in addition to the pilot. More

Amazing perspective of the Islands..If you've always wanted to fly in a biplane don't miss this opportunity! The beauty of the area is absolutely amazing from 2500 feet. I took the Lighthouse flight and it is most Memorable. They also offer GoPro! Footage of your flight! with an extra DVD of a follow plane.. And they allow you to bring... More

So there! Thank you for the extensive review and touching on topics that many people overlook such as the "You Fly" option. This option let's you get some hands on experience flying a vintage just like those of yester year. This gives you a true sense of what flying was like during the "Golden Age of Aviation". Hope to see... More

I researched the tour on-line and chose the 40 minute biplane lighthouse tour. The price on their web site says $370.00 but when I called the day before our flight the clerk said it was really $470.00 and that was an old price and they were in the process of updating their website. Hello...it's the height of the tourist season... More

Took a glider trip during a recent visit to Acadia. Decided on a glider trip vs Biplane. I wanted to experience what it was like in the air without an engine! Jeff was my pilot and he made me feel in very safe hands as he maneuvered and navigated us through the air. I have wondered if it would be... More

Thank you for your review! The flight you purchased was our introductory flight. Unfortunately, this flight does not go high enough to buy you the range to get very far from the airport. That is the reason you did not see more. Most people understand that altitude buys them a longer ride, however, they do not always understand that the... More

My wife and I recently spent a few days in Bar Harbor and Acadia. Prior to the trip, I had already scoped out the Bi-Plane ride from Acadia Air Tours online and knew that it was something that I wanted to do. (I had been up in a bi-plane 30 years ago as a teen). Anyway, as excited as I... More

Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed review. I like it when people's reviews include useful information that can serve to the benefit of other customers, Remember, "Real Airplanes have two wings, a round engine and a wooden propeller." Nothing else qualifies as a real airplane. More

Great way to see the island and orient yourself with the area at the beginning of your vacation. Our pilot, Butch, was very professional and knowledgeable about the area and made us feel very safe and comfortable in the air.

We took the Bi-Plane ride for 25 mins over Acadia. Cost-$250 for the ride and $60 for the video. Very friendly staff. You get great videos of the islands.

The GoPro video's are something new for this season. In addition to the personal video of you in the cockpit of the plane, we also give you a copy of "High on MDI", a professional video produced by Dobb's Productions. This DVD includes footage of both the Biplane and the Glider flying over Mt. Desert Island. Something you will surely... More

My wife and I opted for the 4000' tour which gave us around 45 minutes in the air. Conditions were perfect, with out pilot easily gaining another 1000' of altitude after disconnecting from the tow plane. Jeff provided us a running commentary of what we were seeing as we glided all over the Mount Desert Island area. Not sure I'd... More

My husband and I were traveling with our 14 yr old granddaughter and neither she nor I had ever been in a small plane. The owner of the company, Steve, was so helpful and accommodating and within a half hour we were in the Cessna and in the air with Mike piloting. We had timed it just right! Mike was... More

Thank you for your unqualified recommendation. Our Scenic Flights are just the right choice for families traveling on a budget. For everyone else out there considering a scenic flight, we have a Cessna Skylane that will accomodate up to 4 passengers with the provision that one of the four must weigh less than 120 pounds. I will pass along your... More
