We drove most of the week we were at Acadia. The best move was to get up early and get to Sand Beach parking lot by 8:25 am. We hopped on the "blackwoods" campground bus that stops at Thunder Hole and Otter Cliff before we got off at Otter Point. From there we took our time walking back to Sand... More

Disabled have easy access and can enjoy the views along the trail whilst the super fit can rock climb. All can enjoy the beach at the end.

This is a very easy stroll right along the shore of Mt. Desert Island. Highly recommend going at high tide for the best views

We were there pretty early in the day, around 9:00 am, and the first parking lot was already full so we couldn't do the whole trail. The good part is, there are plenty of other places you can stop and park along the trail to go walking. It's very beautiful and it's fun to climb on the rocks.

This is a 4 mile round trip hike if you stay on the path the whole time but there are numerous opportunities to leave the path and stand on the amazing rocky shoreline. It's truly one of the most beautiful places I've been. The hike is easy and well worth the time. We spent about : hours exploring then walked... More

ASide from being an easy 4 mile round trip, this trail is a photographers delight. The rugged shoreline and cliffs are the image of Maine.

The Ocean Trail is really a nice opportunity for travelers to walk about a flat area and take in the beauty of Frenchman's Bay. Walk as far as you want and enjoy it!

Thank you Bar Harbor residence for this gift you have given the public to enjoy what you have. This is such a treasure, and gift. No one should take this for granted. We didn't know about this until we found it! Great views of the harbor, and quiet walk with others treading lightly on the path!

There always seems to be some confusion between Shore Path and Ocean Trail, two vastly different places in appearance as well as accessibility. The photos you see above that show fences, buildings, and islands are of Shore Path. The photos of rugged cliffs, bold surf and open ocean are Ocean Trail. (Path=in town, Trail=National Park). OCEAN TRAIL: ($: Entrance fee... More
