If you are driving around the park yourself this is where you buy your pass. Watch the video and browse the shop especially for the short guide to all the places to visit, worth the $4.95.

This is the must stop before venturing out in the enormous park. Be sure to watch the entertaining film and talk to the well informed rangers. Go to the Acadia website as it has a tremendous amount of information.

Ranger team shared limited guidance. For some reason the movie (which is ok) doesn’t run constantly. Good for a pit stop if you had an extra cup of coffee before leaving your hote. You can skip this place, pay at the checkpoint and figure out...More

Be aware that there are quite a number of steps to get into the visitor center. The center is very informative and the staff is knowledgeable. Acadia National Park in July is quite crowded, in general, and the visitor center is no different- arrive early,...More

Pick up your park pass here. Purchase a trail map. The maps they give you when you purchase your park pass are worthless on the trails.

This was our first stop and I'm so glad. We got maps of the park and carriage roads plus the ranger suggested several ways of seeing the highlights of the park. A very helpful stop.

I was expecting a larger visitor center for such a well-loved park. We watched a short video of the park, but there was not much else to do. I wish it had more to do or information panels like so many of our other national...More

Lots of steps to get to the visitor center. Small gift shop. It was closed when we arrived so we couldn't get our park pass. The movie didn't go into the history of the island. We learned more on the carriage ride.

This is the starting point for Acadia. Free parking, bus schedule posted. You may find a ranger there to offer advice. You will not be able to purchase a map or anything else for that matter. Jordan Pond Has maps for sale or the chamber...More
