Valley of the Latte Jungle Riverboat Adventure Cruise

50 reviews
Delve deeper into Guam’s jungle and Chamorro heritage than you could independently on this riverboat tour. Cruise the River Talofofo and River Ugum; experience local flora and fauna; and visit a Chamorro village to see craft demos, “latte” pillar stones, and caves. Prebook to save vacation time and secure a place on the cruise departure—either with or without lunch—that best suits you, with hotel transfers as an option.

It's a bit of a hike but totally worth it! The cave was excellent and the coastal view which was about another 10 minutes down the trail were amazing.

If you’ve got limited time, then this is a must -do!! Not a far hike but can feel like it because it can be hot and humid, and ends walking up hill! Downhill hike at start easy, to cave opening. Bring a waterproof flashlight and camera as you do a short dark walk through semi tight opening to an underground pond with clean cool fresh water. Refreshing after that warm hike. Then hike up other side from cave opening to short paths to the rocky shore, which is beautiful! Heard some will cliff jump here but we did not. BTW no easy place to climb out after you jump...I’d reserve this only for the most adventurous who are STRONG swimmers. Wear good hiking shoes to cave, and to shore, but bring to wear water shoes for in cave and pond.

We were expecting much a more challenging from the reviews. It wasn’t bad at all. But flip flops not recommended because of the sharp rocks all along the path. You MUST have a flashlight to really enjoy the cave. Ideally each person should have their own, and it should be waterproof. We used our iPhone flashlights but only because there was a large group inside the cave lighting it up. Otherwise we couldn’t have gone in. We wish wish wish we had our own torches so that we could have snorkeled around and looked at all the stuff underwater. After the cave, it’s worth walking a bit further along the path and checking out the grinding stones and latte stones, as well as the beautiful view and rock formations!

Like most places on Guam, you want to bring all your belongings with you as to not have them stolen/windows smashed. The hike down has been slightly overgrown but we didn't get lost once. We noticed some tour groups, but you definitely don't need to pay a guide to take you down, as long as you have your own car. Bring bug spray and running shoes. Once you're at the cave make sure you have a headlight/waterproof light. It is beautiful! You first get to clear water as high as your shin. Keep going, towards the right at the back there's a little gap between a rock and the cave wall. From here it opens up and you can swim all around this beautiful cave. Highlight of my life. It was so beautiful.
