Nice scenery, especially if you spend a lot of time looking for your ball.
First, I am a lousy golfer. The scenery is fantastic at the Pali Golf Course. Staff is friendly and efficient. Fairways could be better, but hey, it's a municipal course. Greens are average. If you're used to playing immaculate private courses, then this might not be for you. But, for everyone else, I think it's pretty good.

    Surroundings beautiful, course another story
From a female perspective, the surroundings of this course were breathtaking, however, there wasn’t a blade of grass to be found anywhere on the course. Everything is mowed weeds - poana maybe? For residents it’s a very inexpensive course to play, but for visitors, it’s pretty pricey for what you get. Save your money and put it towards another course

Same view as Ko'olau Public Course
Cheap for locals to walk and play.. good exercise.. good staff.. good food in clubhouse.. its a muni but you get what you pay for.. nice layout.. great for locals and not as wet as Ko'olau at 1/4 the price.

We played this course twice in a week because we liked it so much! Beautiful course, surrounded by trees and mountains. The grass is so different in Hawaii you have to get used to that but the fairways and greens are well maintained. Lots of uphill on this course which made it a bit challenging altough we are only average golfers. A very small Pro Shop, not a lot of merchandise and there are NO GPS units in the cart. $99 with a cart on weekends and holidays for non-residents. (We played on a Saturday and Martin Luther King Day)

Played 9 holes here and was entirely unimpressed. It's a much cheaper option that many of the courses on the islands, but there's a reason. If you want a quick, cheap round, go here. If you're looking for a nice course to play on Hawaii. Skip it. This isn't it.

Beautiful golf course but staff was GROUCHY and not friendly!
Very disappointing!!!
Rates were GREAT/ VERY LOW included cart.. but Marshal and others were difficulty to even get to SMILE. They seemed only to want to harass.
Would NOT go back.. Golf should be enjoyable not hostile environment!

If you're expecting manicured fairways and beautiful tee boxes, this is not the course for you. However, the greens are in great shape and the course layout is interesting with spectacular views of the Koolau mountains. At 6500 yards, it requires you to be fairly long off the tees. The fairways are forgiving and wide - go to Koolau golf course if you want to leave a 1/2 dozen balls in the jungle.

There is no service to speak of nor is there a restaurant. But if you want an interesting course at a reasonable price, this is a good option for you (especially if you can get the kamaaina rate). The hills will also mean you get a great walk in over 18 holes.

Enjoyed playing the Pali. Course was straight and easy to keep an eye on things. Not busy at 2pm. Great prices for locals and military with a golf card.

We all played badly, but it wasn't the fault of the course.
It was our first time on a golf course in Hawaii, and we realy couldn't have asked for a better eye opener. Every hole was special to look at scenery wise. Hammering down with rain when we arrived (no booking) so we just paid for 9 holes, but the rain stopped just as we started and it remained fine so we played the whole 18.
Fairways were fantastic, no rough to speak of.
Greens were very slow, but maybe thats just what it's like here after rain?
Not cheap (for Aussie hackers) but well worth it.
Interesting critters running around too!

Pali is a beautiful and inexpensive place to play golf oh Oahu. The course is challenging but wide fairways make it forgiving and eminently playable for the average or casual (duffer) golfer, like me.

Nonetheless, the management is horrible. There are no refreshments on the course. No bar, No Food, not even any place to get a bottle of water or an ice tea on the course. The course personnel are not that friendly; nor are they very helpful .
One would think that someone could have purchased a couple of $200.00 refrigerators on Craigslist and bought some bottled soft drinks, beer, and pre-packaged sandwiches. But alas, no such person exists.

If you decide to play here, be sure to bring a cooler with something to eat and drink. In such case, you will be able to have a good time on a good course at a good price.

This municiple public golf course is nestled at the base of the Pali Highway on the Windward side of the island of Oahu. What a difference from the overgrown jungle vegetation of the near by courses in this area of Koolau and Royal Hawaiian. Since this course is a municiple course, you will need to have a Hawaii Golf card to play it. We simply showed up with no tee time reservation and got in line to play. Here I found wide open fairways, slopes and crevices that were easily manageable as long as you kept the ball within bounds and on the fairway, tightly weaved greens that required careful examination of the slopes and angles of the dips and hills, and simply put- good fun golf. Every hill and stretch of fairway no matter what slope or angle was a fun challenge to play. Since you are playing some of the latter holes next to the highway and near vehicles, you will need to select your clubs wisely. There are signs on this stretch that say you are responsible for damage to other people's property. This course is a must play for anyone visiting Hawaii. You will be happy you played this course. While playing look up at the Napali mountains- the view is majestic and spectacular. I will play this course again!

Yes it's owned by the city of Honolulu despite being on the eastern side of the Ko'olau range. Yes, it's a golf course as there are tees and holes. Yes, they have a scorecard. But that is about all the yeses I can muster for this place.

Certainly the number of rounds played here each year must be off the charts but for the city to let this course fester boarders on criminal. You can barely tell the tees from the fairways and the greens are only just a shade better. But the turf is better labeled as dirt.

The layout of the course is somewhat back and forth yet there are some interesting and clever holes. In fact if they would close this place for a year and redo the grass it could become an interesting and certainly higher ticket track. Yet is clear the city wants to put nothing into the upkeep of this course and is happy to generate the revenue from the locals who won't go nextdoor to Ko'olau because it is too difficult.

You've been warned.

The views are second to none in this price range.

The course itself is not as spectacular. There are no discernible fairways and the bunkers are best played with your putter (as told to me by a local). As a Midwest golfer I struggled around the green here with the little to know grass sprouting out of the clay. It's all about wedge bounce angle here!

Very hilly course I was really really tired after walking 18 with a pull cart.
