There are actually 2 farmer's markets in Kailua. One is on Thursday night (5-7pm) behind Long's Drugs. This one has produce and flowers and other food items but is primarily a dinner venue - with tons of excellent and relatively inexpensive meal options. The other market is on Sunday morning (8a-12p) and is in the parking lot of Kailua Elementary, close to the library. This one has produce, plants and flowers, crafts, natural foods and cures, and some prepared food options that are equally as good as Thursday night - but totally different. Last week they were pounding poi* at one booth and cracking open fresh coconuts at another. Both events feature live music - and even dancing if you are so inclined.

*freshly pounded poi tastes nothing like that at a luau or from the grocery - it is ono!

Tucked away by a school is this unassuming little farmers market that is packed full of yummy and neat surprises. Like a lady who makes designer clothes out of silky Viscose fabrics which is great in the tropical warm weather. Have some delicious home made Vietnamese food or lots of local foods to try...they even have some of the best local honey from rare flower species. As you explore live music is playing and you can tell the locals really support the venders and this market with a lot of love!
If your looking for unique hand made crafts they have a selection that will fit in your suite case like nicely made jewelry, soaps, perfumes, and of course Tiki's : )

An option to find good produce at this farmer's market. The prices are about the same as buying in our local grocery stores, sometimes you can get something cheaper. However, the shopping experience is better here! You can also get some great flowers too.

Nice local famers market with mostly, almost all food items. Some booths were under parking garage shade. It was well attended when we went. If you are hungry it is worth stopping.

Fresh fruit, tasty food and drinks. Also have entertainment. I went every Sunday while on vacation. They had handicapped parking near the entrance and always were very gracious to assist.

The farmers market is really great, small but lots of good vendors. Seemed to be a lot more food vendors than vegetable/fruit stands, although there were a handful of each.

Some food that stood out was:

1) Hawaiian chili - super tasty would get this again

2) Pulled pork from same vendor that sells the chili

3) banh mi Vietnamese stand, had the longest line the entire time we were there

4) meatloaf & beef stew vendor, will try next time

5) crepe vendor

6) fresh lemonade - if you buy the jar at $7 you can get refills the next time for $4. Delicious!

7) sushi

8) the hibachi vendor, fresh poke is amazing they also have a storefront highly recommend

We have been regular patrons for several years and highly recommend this market. Not only are the produce stands well stocked, the merchants are friendly and personable. There are some really popular food stands, including the lemonade folks, the green tomato pizza, the Pig and the Lady and many others. Some of our favorites are Nalo Farms, Otsuji Farms, the Skye Kombucha stand and the banana stand in the back. Prices for the produce beat store prices and you're eliminating the middleman! They have areas for eating and generally have some excellent local musicians entertaining the crowds. Don't miss this if you have an hour or two to spare on Thursday evenings.

The Sunday Kailua Town Farmers Market IS something to write home about!! This is a small farmers market, but the shoppers and vendors are very friendly. LINK evolved from Whole Ox and Meatball and sells meat they process. Now Bob is also making breakfast sandwiches - i had the 2 eggs over easy on a home-made biscuit with bacon and seasonings. Erica is the lovely front of house gal. I sat to eat my sandwich and listen to the "house" band, Paul Izak and Seeds of Love (tune - Water is Love on upcoming CD), met Julie and Kristi and they shared the Elvis breakfast (banana bread with bacon, peanut butter and bananas from Hawaiian Farms where I purchased some mango salsa and lilikoi cheesecake. I wandered around and bought some air plants to take home, sampled some mac nuts with glaze, Baker Dudes (great breads/pastries), Oma'o Man where they make super food smoothies in a Vitamix blender. I'm hoping the smoothie (kale, collards, baby bok choy, spinach, romaine, mint, Swiss chard, mango, apple banana, organic apple juice) will help balance out my breakfast sandwich. Nic's coffee, Nosh (cheese bread/lilikoi mousse), Fire Dance pizza, turmeric/ginger chips fro Kauai, Kihene green tea, body lotions/lip balms, coconuts (cups, bamboo straws, body oil, coconut meat), Maunakea Gold (homu butter/jams), various produce (fruits/veg), Aloha Spreads (mac nut /peanut butter/coconut spreads), Petit Swiss crepes, fresh flowers (2 vendors) and more prepared foods, fresh lemonade, honey and more. Restrooms (neat and clean) are located in the school. This is a place I visit weekly when I am in Kailua!!
