This is the best Kailua Beach experience by far! From Arlene and Josh at the base to instructors Ray and David on the beach, they are all very professional, great communicators, extremely knowledgeable and confident in their education process, and so friendly you are their best buddy from the start. We are taking kite boarding lessons and are making progress by leaps and bounds. After only 4 hours we are ready to take to the boards and get up and go! Ray's 20 years of experience on Kailua Beach speaks for itself - he knows the conditions better than anyone and still has that new discovery enthusiasm even after all this time at it. Young David impresses me so much! He's just out of high school yet his instruction delivery through their excellent radio headsets is so calm and confidence-building, even when things are going into total chaos with the kite. His voice never changes its steady support of you, giving you the confidence you need to recover, learn, and step up to the next level. David is awesome! And on top of all this, their prices are very reasonable. They also operate a non-profit to bring disadvantaged youth into water sports. So much Aloha! We highly recommend Hawaiian WaterSports for whatever your ocean play desires are from lessons to rentals to great equipment purchase options. Mahalo Nui for a great experience you guys!

Hawaiian Watersports is great for rentals and lessons. I was on Oahu for 4 days and squeezed in 2 kitesurfing lessons with Josh and rented some sailboard gear to cruise with. First sail I got was too big for me and we easily swapped it out for a smaller one. I was so happy to have sports be center of my trip and Josh’s instruction with the kite was fun and skill building. Definitely recommend and will use again.

I’ve had my share of instructors/coaches over the years and have experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly. Zero complaints, only compliments for the Hawaiian Water Sports team! I took several lessons with them. The first lesson was an efoil session with Josh. Great instruction, explanations and tons of fun. I definitely need to figure out the kite and winging aspect of it. After the efoil lesson, I signed up for a couple of kiteboarding refresher lessons because many, many moons had passed since I was able to squeeze in a solid kitsurf session. Ray is an excellent coach/instructor and provided many pointers and tips to help further my progression. The focus on safety and the helmets with radios was a huge plus. Highly recommend the folks at Hawaiian Watersports Kailua for any ocean based activity.

Josh and Ray are awesome! Josh helped me get access to any water sport I ever wanted to do while also being a very positive instructor. Ray was super fun and an obvious expert. We played around with different kiting skills, used connecting radios out in the water, and even played tag while kiting which was ridiculously fun. Great people to talk to for lessons or getting kayaks to go out to the Moks in Lanikai. They operate with professionalism whilst showing great aloha spirit. 10/10.

Awesome friendly and helpful staff. They helped us with initially loading our kayaks (rented three doubles for the day) and tips on how to do it on the way back! Can’t recommend highly enough for your water sports needs

Very friendly and knowledgeable instructor. A bit far from the Beach. You need to drive to their shop. Sign papers. Then drive to the beach and search for parking. Overall it was easy, but a bit inconvenient.
The lesson and tour was fun, easy, and very relaxing. We went overtime and the instructor was perfectly fine. She was enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery as much as I did.

Imagine Kailua Bay on a perfect sunny day with tradewinds blowing 16 - 22 mph. Then imagine having a fabulous kiteboard lesson with an incredibly talented instructor that keeps it safe, keeps it real, and keeps it fun!!! Shout out to Ray for getting me back out on the water and making my day!!! Love and aloha from Cris!

Our group of 4 rented 2 tandem kayaks for a day and kayaked to the Mokulua Island off Lanikai Beach. It was kind of a rough day for kayaking but fun nonetheless and we had a sea turtle swim along side of us.
As far as the business part, the equipment was nice and the price was right. We stood in line for quite awhile despite a staff member just standing around talking. When he finally helped us he seemed like he might have smoked a little too much dope before coming into work. He talked SO SLOW and kept making comments about another group renting kayaks the same time as us and how he'd "pay money to see them land on the island cuz they have NO idea what they are doing...", not real professional.
If you wasn't to rent kayaks I'd suggest going to Go Bananas in Honolulu. Those guys are super knowledgable and super helpful and the prices are lower yet.

I unfortunately booked kite lessons online with another shop and the guy no call, no showed me. Then I found Hawaiian WaterSports shop and they were so welcoming, accommodating and helpful. With a matter of having only a few hours before my flight they got me a last minute kite lesson with Josh. He is everything you could ask for in an instructor, patient, positive, great teaching skills and at the same time informing you of the proper way to be an asset to the beach and ocean and not a detriment. What's really amazing is that HWS was and is more concerned with instilling respect for the ocean than the $. My only regret is not finding them until my last day so I'm flying back in a couple weeks for 1 reason, continue kite lessons with Josh!

I took my first ever kite boarding lesson in a private session with Sophia. I was very impressed with what I had learned in one lesson and left feeling confident that it wasn't going to take me long to get out on the board. Sophia's instruction was clear and concise, I found that she has a very good teaching style.

I hope you don't mind me asking a few questions about windsurfing rentals. I’m planning to visit Hawaii from Japan next month, and I’m looking for a shop where I can rent windsurfing equipment at Kailua Beach. I found your website and wanted to inquire about your payment options.
The online reservation form only allows for advance payment by credit card, but I was wondering if it would be possible to pay in cash on the day of rental instead. If it is possible, I would appreciate it if I could just make a reservation in advance and pay in cash when I arrive.
