Stayed on the beach for two weeks. There is not much parking, but there are not many people either. If you have a lot of time on O'ahu and do not want to be surrounded by people, this is a great place to go. It is much more a residential beach than a tourist beach. There are showers and bathrooms.... More

Still in Kailua but a beautiful beach that is away from the usual crowds who visit Kailua or Lanikai beaches

I went jogging here every day of our trip. It was clean, pretty and the breeze from the ocean kept me cool. The views of the ocean are beautiful. Most of the ocean area is taken up by surfers and paddle boarders. People lined the rocky area fishing. There is a skateboard area, tennis, playground, and basketball. There is also... More

What can I say about this beautiful beach other than it is just an awesome beach. Of all the three beaches in a row, Kalama, Kailua beach and Lanikai I like this one the best. Of course the other two are almost as nice but Kalama is not as crazy crowded as Kailua or Lanikai beaches. I enjoyed the body... More

As with all of Kailua beach, Kalama Beach park is gorgeous and worth a visit (or long stay). Take sun screen.

The easiest access to the Kailua Beach is through the Kalama Beach Park. You can park a car, use bathrooms, change and shower at these free to access parks. The Kailua Beach is great for families since the surf is calmer and the water is very clear. Take buses 56, 57 or 57A ($2.5) will bring you within 15 min... More

This beach park is technically still Kailua Beach but a few miles down towards the Marine Base. There is some parking but street parking is available if it is full (please kokua and be courteous and park only where allowed, not blocking driveways) DO NOT park just outside the gates or YOU WILL be ticketed. HPD drives past and checks... More

This beach is loads of fun for boogie boarding and body surfing. The waves can be moody, but when they roll in they roll in! No snorkeling here. The parking is okay. There's a small lot that is hit or miss, but side street parking is available. There's an outdoor shower for rinsing off and a bathroom for changing. The... More

This is a great beach to relax at. If you walk north (left) towards the marine corp base, there are some waves suitable for surfing, bodyboarding. Walk to the south (right) and you are headed toward Kailua beach and Lanikai. Kalama tends to be less crowded. No lifeguards. Suitability for young kids in the water depends on swimming skills- water... More
