They were amazing, super nice and helpful!! We were originally booked for a day that turned out to have terrible weather (super windy and a big rain storm). They checked the weather for us and changed our reservation for the best weather day during our trip, and then gave us some ideas on what we could still do that day around there. When we went back to actually kayak, they were very helpful with giving us the best itinerary for our time, provided detailed directions for driving and where to park, where to kayak, and where to snorkel. They provide free roof racks for the kayaks, and help get them up and down which was very helpful. All in all, they were very pleasant to work with and we highly recommend them to anybody wanting to rent outdoor equipment in Kailua.

Highly recommend you rent from these guys! They are the absolute best! This was our second time renting from Windward Watersports. We wanted to rent a tandem kayak to paddle out to the twin islands Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. Unfortunately, it was too windy to go out there, so they let us pick up a kayak on Wednesday before closing, and knowing they’d be closed Thanksgiving, told us to bring it back Friday morning. My daughter and I had an amazing time paddling to the Mokes, and enjoyed our time on the small island-we even saw Lani the Monk Seal make her way from the ocean onto the beach to sun herself. Unfortunately, as I put the kayak in the water to head back to Lanikai, I encountered a rogue wave which pushed the kayak into me. At that moment I felt my ankle snap and immediately knew it was broken. Fortunately there were people on the small island who called 911 and the ocean rescue folks came out and were able to get us back on rescue boards on the back of jet-skis. Lol, that’s a whole other story, I think that was the highlight of my 20 year old daughter’s trip. As they put me in the ambulance someone asked me who we rented the kayak from and I told them Windward Water-sports. The gentleman told me he knew Jeff and would contact him to retrieve the abandoned kayak, still on the island. My husband talked to Jeff and the other guy (David maybe), and felt badly they had to take time away from their families on Thanksgiving to go retrieve an abandoned kayak from the twin islands, but thats what they did. (You can’t really leave an abandoned kayak there, otherwise people start calling 911 about potential missing kayakers). I was still in my life vest at the hospital and my hubby was able to return it the following day. Anyway, I’m sure that’s not how they wanted to spend their Thanksgiving, but that day I was especially thankful for everyone involved who helped me that’s day.

We were a group of friends all learning to Kitesurf. Jeff and David at Windward Watersports were genuinely enthusiastic instructors and you could tell they enjoyed teaching. They were very straight up and made sure conditions were perfect before taking us out. We always felt safe, well looked after and all made fantastic progress during our two days with them. If you want to learn Kitesurfing/kiteboarding in Hawaii, hook up with a Jeff. High recommended +++.

We rented a kayak to paddle out to twin islands and windward couldn’t be more accommodating we booked for Sunday not realising we couldn’t land on the island that day so they let us reschedule twice to a day that suited us better. Once arrived the guy on the desk was very helpful and friendly giving us exact directions to the best place to leave from and lots of helpful tips. He showed us how to transport the kayak and when we returned 4 hours later both colleagues were at the car door before we could get out helping remove the kayak and all the equipment. We would highly recommend them and they’re prices see very good! Thanks for your service.

These guys were awesome - particularly helpful when we had a bit of a crisis and thought we wouldn't be able to make it to them in order to pick up our kayaks that day. We had a super fantastic time paddling out of Lanikai and would rent from them again any day.
