Happened upon this beach after a recommendation from the concierge at our hotel. This is a beach that you only see in the movies. Absolutely stunning vistas, gentle waters and plush sand that goes on & on. Restrooms & showers but no food sales. Busy...More

This is a beautiful beach with glorious soft sand. It is very windy usually on this side of the island and the area is busy with windsurfers and kite surfers. It is a great place to swim and watch the kite surfers. Enjoy!

We bumped into this beach by mistake and was pleasantly surprise. The water was clear and refreshing. It has more amenities than Lanikai beach and well worth coming here.

The sand has washed away leaving a huge berm....Dogs run loose against city law and traffic is a mess. Tourist are swarming all over and leave no room for local folks.

Excellent beach, beautiful place to lay out. Great for kids and families. There's grass to picnic on. Good place to swim, relax and soak up the views.

We visited in the fall so I don't know if it is different in the summer but the beach was never too crowded and had decent waves for body boarding most of the time. Kayaking our to Flat Island was awesome and not too difficult....More

Great place for a dip, very good beach for families. You can just relax here! Parking is HARD on the weekends, so get in early or park like the locals.

There is something about this beach... the gorgeous water, the amazing sand... it stood out on a day where we hit 5 beaches in 6 hours. Amazing. Liked this much more the Lanikai. We went at 2pm and parking was easy (and free!) They have...More

Same thing... the beach is about 1.5-2 km in length... it's the beach we found on O'Ahu... we stayed in Waikiki, but drove here 2 times in a week because we preferred this beach!!!

I am unsure about that. There are several trees on the edge of the sand as there is parkland between the beach and road.

Depends on what you plan to do at the beach. Hanauma better for snorkeling, kailua better for beach lounging. In my opinion, skip them both and head to the North Shore for the best of both worlds.
