This is a great hike in the jungle...very interesting but beware. It is about 3.5 miles to the falls...very steep, very muddy, very hazardous with slick roots and rocks all the way. Make sure you pay attention to the old agricultural terraces along the way....really cool but you will have to read up on them before the hike, there are... More

The hike probably took us about an hour and a half each way, so I wouldn't suggest you hike this with young children or elderly family members. The hike was very hard, very muddy, but so much fun. I fell multiple times, but the view at the end of the hidden waterfall is worth it. There were people jumping off... More

This trail has been removed from the State's official trail list: it is unmaintained and deteriorating so it can be confusing - people get lost.. Extremely muddy and dangerous - there are rescues by helicopter or other emergency services several times a week, and people get hurt. No toilets, no trash pickup, no parking. Flash floods, mosquitoes and leptospirosis in... More

We hiked the trail to the falls 2 days after a rainy day. The trail was brutal with mud and puddles the entire trail. You had to watch each and every step. Would probably be a good hike if it has not rained recently. Otherwise I would not do it. If you get to the trail head and see the... More

“Show me a waterfall!” is the recreational battlecry of many a visitor to Oahu. After all, tropical paradises are synonymous with rainbows and waterfalls. Oahu does boast plenty of rain-fed, spurting beauties, but unlike some of the other Hawaiian islands, none of them offer drive-up viewing. A thorough deluge will leave the Ko‘olau range awash in a spectacle of gushing... More

Maunawili Falls is great easy and fun. Number one CHECK WEATHER FIRST. Even though Maunawili falls is relatively small and mellow, if it's raining up in the Koolau Mountains it can become very dangerous. People park on the street near the gate to Falls. All we ask is Malama Ka 'Aina (respect the land) PLEASE, pack your trash out and... More

Hiking in to the falls took us about 1hr 45 minutes to get to; trail can be confusing sometimes, hopefully other people hiking back (took us 1hr 30 min to hike back) can show you the way. Roots, mud, rocks and more mud. Prepare to get dirty, all the more to make it to the falls to wash off. Make... More

An incredibly muddy slog to get to a fairly unremarkable waterfall. The trail is not well marked. Stick to the trail with large paving stones when you see them. A walking stick is recommended. Bring water.

This hike is very muddy, be prepared to get dirty. The day we went it was extremely muddy and strenuous. Bring shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty and NO flip flops. Remember when you get back you'll be muddy so plan to bring towels and a change of shoes for the ride home.

Maunawili Falls is beautiful. The path can be a bit muddy and slick but worth it. Lots of cook places to stop and take pictures along the way. Our four teens had a competition of sorts creating funny scenes using the beautiful plants and trees for back drops.Consider taking an old pair of shoes you can throw away when you... More
