This was the most amazing experience of our lives so sign up right now (seriously) because you will not regret ite! We felt SO SAFE the entire time, never once did I doubt the staff and captain. They were extremely knowledgeable. PLEASE tip! These people deserve it, especially for how inexpensive this shark cage dive is for the amazing life experience you will receive! I've read reviews of how rough the boat ride to the cage is but with Dramamine taken the night before and the morning of, my husband and I did not get sick so we would recommend you do the same. The cage was the most frustrating part of the tour as it bounces around in the Pacific and you will focus on finding your own balance. I think there should be briefing on how to conduct yourself in the cage because my husband and I were a mess, we wanted to just stare at the sharks but we found ourselves holding on and messing with our masks. You will float due to the buoys all around the cage so you have nothing to worry about it is just that the cage with the buoys makes it hard for you to stay in one place and focus on the sharks. I almost booked another tour the next day so I could benefit more the second time with the experience of the first tour. Even with the cage tossing you around a little bit, the experience was utterly mind blowing, I will NEVER forget my first view of the gorgeous Galapagos shark in the middle of the blue pacific, it was life changing. The shark almost looked tribal, like something you have never seen before. Aquariums don't count, seeing these majestic beings free is astounding. After the cage dive, I would like to free dive with them. The cage dive helped me to understand even better just how little they care about humans and to dispel all preconceived ideas society has formed about them. You owe it to yourself and the sharks to experience this. I can't say enough about this tour, my biggest regret is not booking it again the next day! We decided to save our money. It sells out fast so book soon. Please take my word for it, this is amazing and where else can you do this safely in a trusted environment with quality reviews? This is coming from a person that thought of ALL worst case scenarios beforehand and here I am I did it and I want more of it! So please DO IT! :) Make sure you get there 30 minutes beforehand to check in, practice with your snorkel beforehand for good fit, realize this is once in a lifetime and savor every minute because it goes lightning fast! :)

This was truly a once in a life fun experience. I felt completely safe during the dive w/ the sharks. It's best to go earliest in the morning as possible as the water is much calmer. We did the 10am and the water was getting choppy while in the tank cage but still had a great time. We seen multiple sharks. They swam underneath & around the sides of us. The water was beautifully blue just like in the movies. The amount time time in the water cage was about 10 mins per group (perfect). As each goes in the cage, the other group can walk about the boat and see the sharks below the surface. One of the best experiences in my life. We're definitely doing this again.

We surprised our 12 and 14 year old boys with this adventure. We choose to do the first trip out in the am so that we would have the rest of the day to explore the North Shore. They were super helpful on the phone as I had to call to ask something after I booked on line which was easy to do. Directions were great, we had no problems finding it. It was a crew of two, the boat was clean and a good size for the conditions. It was a little rough, the crew commented that it was quite rough for the first trip out. If you get motion sickness I would go prepared. The trip out was not very long, being the first trip out they do have to put the cage in the water and tie it off to their anchor and then it stays out there for the day. They ran the boat for a few mins and then the sharks came. We had about 8
Galapagos Sharks swimming around. They broke the group on the boat up into 2 groups, there were 6 of us in the cage for about 20 mins. My whole family felt safe and enjoyed the whole experience. The only thing I might say is that it was quite costly for an excursion for only 20 mins in the water and more education would have been nice. All in All in was a very cool experience and we really enjoyed it. Mahalo North Shore Shark Adventures!

Let’s start with what you’re paying for: To be placed in a tank surrounded by sharks… Did they deliver? Yes! It Was a cool experience to see sharks all around. Beautiful creatures.

Now, other things that they didn’t have control over = the weather. DO NOT go on a windy day. My entire group spent most of the boat ride with their heads hanging over the boat vomiting. People also vomited while people were in the water… pretty gross. The waters get EXTREMELY choppy on a windy day. You’ve been warned.

Disappointment: I came prepared to purchase the $75 footage, but they didnt have the equipment on the boat. I didnt bring my own camera… I probably would have taken more points away for this if one of the group members hadn’t kindly agreed to take photos of me underwater with her camera (and share them with me). That couple really saved the day!!! The photos weren’t the best, but definitely better than nothing. I reduced a star because of this.

I feel the adventure would have been better if everyone didn’t feel sick so early in the morning. Most of us seemed to have attitudes because of sea sickness.

I’ve never been seasick before (I’m always in water and on boats)… but this trip got to me. 😭😭😭

What a fun and exciting experience. We were hesitant at first but in the end we are glad we booked with NSSA. The crew was very laid back but knowledgable. They took the time to explain everything and made us feel totally safe. I recommend booking the earlier time slots only because the water gets pretty choppy later in the day. We had the 11:30am slot and it was a bit rough. Recommend taking Dramamine or the like if you are prone to motion sickness. They give you plenty of time in the water to get some good looks, photos and video. Recommend a go pro camera or something similar to capture your experience. We saw plenty of Galapagos Shark, at least a dozen, and some a little bigger than the cage. We booked online which saves you 20% or you can look on Groupon as well. Book in advance as the earlier time slots go quick. I would definitely recommend NSSA to family and friends. They also do open water shark diving if you're into that.

I recently spent a week in Hawaii with a group of business associates, and we decided to go for a cage dive with the sharks. The experience was incredible. We were greeted by super friendly people, the owner was hilarious. The captain and his first mate were informative and entertaining, and at no time did we feel unsafe. Make sure you take a windbreaker, it can be a little chilly getting out there but once you're in the water it's super comfortable. Just do it, you won't regret it.

This was the definition of a complete 180 experience, my wife and I got this experience on a whim Monday morning of our trip since it was the only experience that had an opening for 2 people in the north shore day of.

We didn't have a car so we Uber'd out there a few hours early to grab food. After hanging out for a while we walked over to where the email said to wait by, we got there 45 minutes before the departure time since it said to get there 30 mins early. The area we arrived at was super sketchy with no one else around except a couple of homeless people. We found the public bathroom to get changed into our swim suits but the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting with no doors to the stall so we had to get changed as fast as possible before someone just walked in. After that we walked down to the Shark Adventures booth and it was completely closed with no one around so we figured we'd try waiting. 30 mins goes by and nothing happens so we tried calling the number multiple times with no one picking up, which had been the case all day of trying to call. Then we see some other people looking around the booth so we walk up and they were also confused since they had their previous appointment cancelled on them. So at this point we were all unsure if we got scammed and I was absolutely ready to write this off and get the hell out of there.

But just as the exact departure time comes around a boat finally comes rolling up. The crew gets us all on and from then on out it was a phenomenal experience! The guys on the crew were super cool and did a great job on briefing, educating, and making it a great experience for the entire trip. We were the last boat out there so we had the privilege of getting all the sharks! We had at least 10 Galapagos sharks swimming all around us they were super friendly and adorable it was so amazing getting to see them so up close.

The seas were really rough that day so my wife got sea sick but the crew was really great and gave her a spot at the back of the boat to chill on the way back that wasn't as bumpy. Also despite the sea being so rough it felt safe the entire time with the crew's instructions and guidance through out the whole experience.

So overall, completely awful pre-boarding experience that absolutely needs some work but the experience itself was so great I completely forgot about all of that!

Sorry about the state of the harbor and the bathrooms. The State of Hawaii does not want to take care of the infrastructure in our harbor. I have a guy who comes in 2 times a week to clean the area where we do business. The Harbormaster has been of no help justifying the situation. The day you came our lady who works the Shark Shack had her daughter become very ill and she had to leave. I am glad to hear you had a good time on our boat. Hope to see you again stay safe. This is definitely a must do. We had great weather and great visibility. If you’re worried about safety, don’t be. The crew members are definitely pros, they shared really cool information and facts about the sharks that made us feel at ease. Even my mother who was skeptical at first, said she felt safe at all times and dared to try it after all, and she loved it! I do recommend taking motion sickness medicine before the ride if you think you are likely to get seasick, better to prevent than be sorry. Otherwise sit back and enjoy the views and the ride! I hope to come back someday.

Very good communication from the booking through to the excursion itself. Due to an inspection they had to change the booking and offered us an alternative time the same day or refund. We left an hour later than the original booking so no problem. Staff were friendly and informative and we had more than enough time in the tank and was circled by 10 or so sharks. They supply goggles/snorkel but you can bring your own.

Tip - stay the boat side of the tank as the sharks seem to circle under the boat then around tank so you’ll get more shark views for your buck!

Second time we have been with North Shore Shark Adventures and we will do this again when back in Oahu.

The tour should have been cancelled due to big waves. My wife and kids were unable to go into cage due to conditions. Basically paid $500 for a boat ride and sea sickness. Should not offer tours at that time of day if the tide is always crazy kind of a waste of money. Refunds or a discounted rate would have made sense since 75% of the visitors experienced sea sickness.
