Just the ride on the Catamaran was great but we got the opportunity out to see a pod of four whales that were very active.

Captain Mark was very entertaining and if you enjoy yourself some classics Bee Gees music you will not be disappointed.

We brought our own drinks on board and walked freely around the ship with not a care in the world. We spent most of the trip amongst the humpback whales and although none of us spoke their language they seemed to show off just for us even completely breaching the surface at one point.

It was a intimate encounter with only 5 other passengers on board and a great time was had by all.

I vehemently recommend this excision for all family members and hope the boat and crew continue to thrive!

We LOVED our private catamaran charter that we shared with two other families (our close friends and their in-laws). Captain Mark and the other two (Pierce and the dolphin whisperer) were a fantastic crew and kept us hydrated and entertained. We saw dolphins on the way to the reef and dolphins on the way back. We saw two sea turtles at the reef area, tons of fish (including a school of one type of fish), a sea eel, etc. Overall, the 4 hour a.m. charter was perfect and relaxing. The captain let my youngest son and one of the friends blow on the conch shell. And they all took turns doing flips / jumps / dives off the side of the boat when we were anchored. AWESOME time and AWESOME crew. Highly recommend this place. Much better than sharing a catamaran with 50 people on a 1.5-2.5 hour ride around Waikiki, at around the same price as if we booked individually.

Booked the whale watching cruise for our trip to Oahu, keeping fingers crossed we’d be lucky enough to spot a whale during their season in the area. Trip was super smooth; Captain knows how to maneuver the waves. We had a huge group of spinner dolphins join us on the way out. They swam right in front of the boat, almost close enough to touch. Then the sails went up and the engines turned off, and I can’t describe how awesome it was to only hear the breeze in the sails, the waves around us, and know the feeling of the boat moving completely by wind power. It came time to turn back to the marina and we were so thankful a humpback whale decided to give us a glimpse of its pectoral fin and a big splash with its tail. Truly awesome experience. Kids enjoyed some music from Moana, good refreshments provided, overall 10+/10 will book again if I ever have the pleasure of returning to Oahu!

We went on the sunset whale watching tour. The ship was really old and had very little seating. For over $600 we did not see any marine life, nor any other part of the island. We sailed straight out of the harbor and back in. We served ourselves a cup of Hawaiian punch out of an orange cooler with a spout. We got rained on and sat on the roof of the catamaran and moved around other people and the sails when needed. We were extremely hungry as we had to check in at 4:30 for a 5:00 tour and we're not offered snacks (not mentioned in the tour but after having been on many sailing tours at this price point I thought there might be something) and didn't get off the boat till after 7:30. We were also not given any interesting information about the island, animals etc. Overall, it was just not worth the money.

Today’s private charter with North Shore Catamarans was very disappointing and heavily overpriced. The boat has no galley and, even with a private charter, food beverages are not included. We brought our own sandwiches and chips, as well as wine. The bathroom was in a hole in the hull and we didn’t drink much because it was not a typical private charter option (while we were waiting to board—late—the captain said they were almost ready, but he has to “go polish the toilet seat”.
We chartered with a different company in Ko’Olina 5 days earlier for the same price and I can’t even begin to describe the differences and deficiencies of this one.

Boat was not clean—sand and mud when you first get on board. They made us wait until 5 mins after our paid start time and brought us back 15 minutes early. So, we did not even get the time we paid for.
Boat is very old and has not been kept clean over time. On the previous charter we took with another company earlier this week, we saw tons of dolphins, turtles and even two whales. We told this boat owners’s wife, who booked the charter for us, as well as the crew that’s what we wanted—no snorkeling—just wildlife and sailing. There was never an attempt to find dolphins or turtles. At all.
It is obvious the boat is usually used as a booze cruise and professionalism or service isn’t required of the crew (they were perfectly nice—just seemed like they were out for a half day sail and not like they were there for their private charter, paid passengers.
This would probably be fine for someone who wants a cheap few hours on a group tour boat. But 100% not set up for or worth the high cost of a private charter.

We had a group of 8 scheduled for the 1:30pm snorkel sail. We were told to arrive by 1pm. Don't bother getting there 30 minutes early as the boat wasn't even there! They arrived about 1:10pm and let the guests off. We did chat with a family getting off of the boat and they said they had an amazing time. They had seen dolphins, sea turtles and a ton of fish. This got me very excited for our trip! About 1:25pm they acknowledge our group waiting and told us it would be a few minutes as they had to finish their lunches. We were finally invited onto the boat. I do not recall the names of the 3 people working the boat as there was not much interaction with them. We motored out to the spot where we would snorkel. We got our snorkel gear and headed into the water. The young helpers(a boy and a girl) went out into the water with us. I was under the impression that they were going to snorkel as well and show us things. In reality, they sat atop paddle bards and did nothing. They just let us swim around aimlessly. We saw no sea turtles or dolphins. There were a few colorful fish but I've done much better snorkeling elsewhere. They claimed we had an hour to snorkel but we were called back to the boat in less time than that. The website claims that they serve you a deli lunch once back on the boat, this was not the case. Maybe they do for the morning sail but we were offered nothing. Apparently there was a cooler with drinks as my boys found some soda. For about 30 minutes, the young girl was trying to switch out the buoy where we were anchored while we just sat around and waited. Finally she finished and we set off for the marina. We were told we would sail back but instead the captain raised the front sail only and kept on motoring back. Maybe he thought we didn't know the difference! When we asked him, he said that we would be late getting back if we actually sailed. They apparently had better things to do than to offer us a quality experience. The only positive I can say is that we all enjoyed being out on a boat and viewing Hawaii from the water.

I really enjoyed my whale watch with North Shore Catamaran Charters. Right out of the harbor we saw a couple of green turtles which are endangered and fun to see. Within the first 15 minutes we saw a whale spout and soon were seeing whales everywhere including some near-full breaches. One of the employees on the boat spent all her time helping us look and we had a photographer with us who also kept an expert eye out. After the first hour the whale sightings slowed and they turned on their underwater microphone so we could hear the whales singing to each other. The second hour we only saw one or two whales, but it was nice to spend time on the boat.
North Shore Catamaran was well prepared and staffed. The boat only holds about 15 people so you get a more intimate experience and you can get closer to the whales. I recommend the morning trip (starts at 9:30) to get the best chance to see whales.

We were not impressed with North Shore Catamaran. Captain Mark smoked several cigarettes during the boat trip and the smell only added to our slight sea-sickness. Lunch was cheap sandwiches and soda. No hand sanitizer, no napkins, no paper plates, no chips or veggies, just plastic wrapped little subs with condiments that ran out before everyone even had a chance to eat. Of course there was talk before we left of seeing dolphins but I whispered to my spouse I'd believe it when I see it. No dolphins. Which we were not surprised by but talking it up before the tour was just lip-service. This snorkel trip was definitely not worth the more than $400 we paid for our family of four.

We had a wonderful time, and were so lucky to see whales so much of the time just playing around our boat. The meeting place on the emailed map was 100% accurate and we left right on time at 5pm. Crew was friendly and making jokes. There was a cooler with soft drinks.

This was a very safe trip for families, we have a 7 and a 9 year old and the highlight of the trip wasn't the whales 10 feet away from the boat, but the lovely crew member woman (didn't get her name) and she played so many games with them, they thought it was the BEST time ever, giggling and laughing for over an hour. :)

As for the whales, we first saw them in the distance about 30 min in. Saw their tales out of the water and thought it was cool. Had no idea what we were in for. About an hour in, we were close to two maybe more and saw them breaching, blowholes and waving tails. The Captain expertly navigated the catamaran right over the area we saw them and they came up many times only yards from our boat. Just awesome to see them and hear them up so close. The epic photos and videos didn't hurt either.

Oh and I want to mention the sunset - it was gorgeous and a perfect sight on our way back to the marina. Our family and the rest of the passengers had an incredible time, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place!

This was a highlight of our week on the North Shore. The staff were knowledgeable and so welcoming. They brought us right to a group of 5 whales and got close enough for us to appreciate the magic and yet stayed far enough away so as not to disturb their play. Highly recommend!!
