Jonathan listened well to what we wanted to see (or not). We weren't much interested in swimming, for instance. We wanted lots of photo ops and got them: waterfalls galore (it had been raining and some were just awesome), the stand of Rainbow eucalyptus trees, wonderful beaches, verdant rainforests, etc. He was a very competent driver and guide. To maneuver hundreds of hairpin turns, narrow bridges and roads would have driven us nuts since you have to keep your eye on the road ALL the time, especially when there can be mudslides due to heavy rain. It was a long day. Started out at 7AM and returned just after 6PM to our Kahului hotel... but it was a memorable day with many wonderful stops. including one for about the best banana bread ever or ice cream on the way back. Jonathan's tour allows for many variations. He provides a list of places and stops. You can drive to Hana and fly back or the reverse, etc. You can also choose to visit the Lindbergh grave. it'll take extra time and money. We had arrived only the night before and opted out of that choice. Ask ahead of time re. comfort stops since they're hard to come by. He supplies water. Bring rain gear. We had been to Maui several times before but never attempted to drive to Hana. Sure glad be did this time AND let someone else do the driving. It made all the difference.

If you are looking for a private tour of Hana, Jonathan is your guy! I planned a custom tour of The Road to Hana with my girlfriend, and since I wasn't familiar with the logistics I accidentally planned too much to do in one day. Jonathan tried is best to accommodate my schedule and came up with surprising and innovative ways to make everything work. He will truly bend over backwards to make your dreams come true! Unfortunately, I had to cancel at the last minute, but he was very understanding and professional. Also, his prices are the best that I found! Whether you want a unique custom tour like I did or want a pre-planned private tour, do not hesitate to use hana4less!

My girlfriend and I wanted to see the Road to Hana. Many reviews on Trip Advisor recommended taking a tour because of the hairpin turns, and we were very happy when we found all the good reviews on Hana 4 Less Tours. They drive you in your car, or for a little more money, they use their car, which we opted for. This allowed us to have our own personal driver who was thoroughly familiar with all the sights, and we just got to sit back and enjoy the ride. Jonathan owns Hana 4 Less & is the tour guide/driver. He patiently answered all my emailed questions about his various tours, and he even took the time talk to me over the phone. My girlfriend and I had a great time, and we were so relieved that neither of us had to drive but could just relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Jonathan was a fantastic tour guide. He knew all the scenic spots to stop for us to enjoy & take photographs. We didn't want to go swimming, but he'll stop at various beaches for those who do. And with so many places to stop, he'll arrange the stops based on your preferences, and you can stay as long as you want because it's your custom tour; you just have to stay less at another spot. It was a long day, but beautiful and totally worth it. We highly recommend that you drive on the Road to Hana, but remember the goal is not to get to Hana, but to see all the sights along the way. And if you can afford to hire someone else to do the driving, we highly recommend that you hire Hana 4 Less Tours.

This is not what we were hoping for. Read all of the negative reviews carefully. They tell the true story of this trip. Would not recommend. Positives--Hana is beautiful and there were many great stops on the way and Jonathan is a good driver.

We love the road to Hana! But we don't like driving it so we hired Jonathon to drive us. In the past 2 years we have spent 5 weeks in Hawaii and the majority of them we have hired a guide. And we have always loved our experiences until this one. The last time we had a guide for this excursion, the guide got out and showed us fun things including waterfalls. Jonathon would probably be a great guide for an older couple but I was there with my 20 year old daughter and her friend. Jonathon spent a lot of time throughout the day explaining why his tour was better than the buss tours. When we got to a point of interest he sat in the car and watched Netflix. His information was very rehearsed- like he had done it hundreds of times before (which he had). All said and done, Jonathon knows what he is doing but he really made this a boring experience for us.
