This is the classic Hawaiian landscape you see in postcards. Green lush sharply ascending mountains with ribbons of waterfalls spattered around. They recommend you stay on the paths but there are some hidden hiking trails here as well.

We had heard so much about this state monument and expected much more than we saw from the paved walkways and stairs. We found out later, that all the really cool views of waterfalls were beyond the "don't go beyond this sign" signs. Next time we'll know. Not really worth the $5 and 15 minutes it takes to walk the... More

A great little pit stop if you're around the area, but i couldn't make a detour just to see this. Good to do on a rainy day!

$5 fee/parking per vehicle. Paved trail to observation areas to view Iao Needle, valley, & waterfall. Best place for a photo is down at the bottom of the small botanical garden looking up at the needle. Be sure to go there. Worth the trip and be sure to visit the cultural heritage gardens about a mile away on the same... More

Visited Iao Valley State Park because it sounded appealing. Surprising drive, because you are in a town, residential area traveling along the road and then it just becomes the park. The sides of the mountains rise up on both sides of the road. Really cool to be in that valley. There is a fee to enter and there are two... More

This is a great place to visit for the nature lover. The park is beautiful place to relax and explore. bring a jug to get water to drink. The locals come and fill up.

A decent sized parking lot and area isn't too far from town. As you cross the bridge to go up to the needle or down to the walking area below. Snap a picture or two of the rapid little stream below. There are several winding steps you will have to climb to get to the top where you get the... More

This was our second time here. We were able to spend more time here during this visit. It is a beautiful, lush, green valley. The paths are paved and not very difficult to hike/walk. There is a set of stairs that lead to a viewing place of the Iao Needle. I didn't think that the view was any better from... More

This is a beautiful spot to spend a hour and learn a little about the history of the islands. There is a short walking path to get a nice view of the needle. The admission fee is $5 per car.

An easy drive from the airport and a short hike to see this famed rock formation. It is best on a sunny day but driving to the valley you will evener know what you will get
