We rented three E-MTB from Krank last week and rode up and down the hills all day. Bikes ran great, were tuned and ready for us. The ride up and then down Pineapple Express was very comparable to our riding at Silver Mountain in Kellogg Idaho. Good people working in the shop too so our experience was overall a 95%. The only drawback, and its not anyones fault, is that the parking really is a problem. Both when we picked up the bikes and then when we dropped them off, there was no parking available so we had to pull into neighboring parking lots and have the business owners/homeowners glare at us (and one flipped me off.....). We will definitely rent from Krank next time we are visiting Maui.

Just visited Krank with my 12 year old son. The shop is great and has an awesome selection of very high quality bikes that are flawlessly maintained. The shop staff is very helpful and set you up well for a great day of riding. The near by trails in the Makawao Forest are world class. I’ve been mounting biking for almost 30 years and the Pineapple Express Trail is as good as they come. The climb up is long but doable for most and the down hill is 100% flow so anyone can ride it as long as they’ve moutain biked at least a little bit before. Overall this stop was one of the highlights of an amazing trip.

The guys are Krank cycles are definitely geared towards the MTB riders, but I was looking for a road set up for my vacation in HI, and they were flexible, accommodating, and helpful throughout the process.

Firstly I thought the reservation system that they used worked well and made it easy to keep track of my rental details (which I made months in advance). When I arrived in Maui, I called the shop and asked if I could pick up the bike early and I was told it wouldn’t be a problem at all. Aron made the time to go over the bike and make sure that things were in working order. The Giant Defy 2018 was brand new, and hadn’t been rented yet, so he was weary that the shifting may need to be adjusted during my trip. Aron made it very clear if there were any problems (shifting or otherwise) that I should just call or come back and he would sort it out. I had the bike for a total of 8 days and had a blast riding on the Island!

Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend Krank cycles for anyone heading to Maui, looking to ride.

Look no further for all your cycling needs. Moose has road and mt. bikes of all types. Very close to Makawao Forest Reserve. They put my pedals on for me and lent me a pump and repair kit. $50 for a sweet Kona full suspension bike which you can reserve in advance.
Highly recommend. Will be back to rent again when the wind dies. I'm a business owner and tour operator and know good service when i see it.

Cheers.

Great mountain bike rentals from Krank Cycles and owner Moose. Very good service, convenient and flexible (1/2 day rentals). The Skyline trail was unbelievable- wish I had more time to explore some of the other mtn bike trails.. Highly recommended.

It felt like we were cycling through an enchanted forest! Moose set us up with great bikes and provided all the details we required for a great 3 to 4 hour mountain bike excursion, including maps of the area. Great bikes at a very reasonable price.

Rented for 5 days. Great bike. Well maintained. Delivered to our hotel at Wailea when promised. I’ve rented from shops in CA and FL, this was one of the better experiences.

Moose looked after us like a Dutch uncle. Bikes were first class instructions a blind man could follow and a great day out.

Absolutely first class.

Loved our experience with Krank Cycles! Moose set up our party of 3 with fantastic bikes for the Skyline trail. (Oh we were SO GLAD to know those bikes were maintained correctly when we started heading down... down... down that big mountain.. Worth every penny - and God knows I used at least $15 in brake pads during the last 4 miles alone! He took the time to be sure we knew where we were going and had the right equipment for the ride. When we returned equipment, he was professional and courteous, even though there were lines of folks ready to rent, phones ringing, people everywhere - what a juggle to get through us all with a smile for everyone. Thanks Moose - We WILL be returning to frequent your store again next year!

No tour operators are permitted to drop off cyclists at the summit of Haleakala. To do it yourself, you need two cars (at least one with a bike rack), two drivers, and an awesome bike-rental company. Krank is that.

Get there when they open. Rent your bikes and your bike rack (they'll put it on one of your two rental cars). Leave one car at Krank. Drive the other to the summit. Ride down like the maniacs you are, screaming all the way. When you get to good old-fashioned road, ride back to Krank. Drop off the bikes. Take rental car #2 to the summit, pick up rental car #1, then drive back to Krank and drop off the bike rack.

Hard? Yes.

Worth it? Oh goodness yes!

Best of all, if you're a complete dingobrain and you blow a tire on the trail, the Kranksters will talk you through changing the tire over the phone. And they'll only laugh at you a little bit.

Now stop reading and go do this.
