    An unexpected delight
This was something that wasn’t on my radar before arriving in Maui. However I saw a Facebook ad after arriving and did some research and it seemed like a great thing to do on our day of driving up to the Haleakala summit. We booked the 9:30 tour and had Padma as our tour guide. She was great teaching us about the Alpacas and Angora bunnies. We got to feed the alpacas and pet the bunnies. We also had a demonstration of how they use the fur to make yarn. So glad we did this experience. At the end you can purchase yarn from the farm or other goods. I purchased a mini stocking to hang on our Christmas tree made with both alpaca and angora yarn from the farm.

An unexpected pleasure after visiting the Haleakala crater.
We saw alpacas and angora rabbits. All safe and family friendly. Tour was a little over an hour on a “working” farm. We fed and petted the alpacas and petted the soft and cuddly angora bunnies. Also got information on how the yarn is. Cleaned, prepped and waved into clothes.

Worth the ride to Upcountry Maui to visit the Alpaca Farm
Our guide Erin was most knowledgeable and welcoming during our visit. The website provides detailed directions on how to travel from the main roadway and we had no issues with finding our way around the residential area. The Alpaca's are very gentle and it was a lot of fun to feed them and see the reactions amoung the females as they sensed that they were going to be fed. A wonderful time to spend on a working farm and learn the process of how the yarn is processed and turned into garments and other items.

So much fun…beautiful alpacas and bunnies!
This was an amazing experience that we are so happy we did! We got to feed and pet the gorgeous alpacas and also the angora bunnies. We love to find experiences on our vacations that are unique, fun, and off the beaten path…if you like that too, this is for you! Our tour guide, Jessica, was so wonderful. We also got a great fiber demo too. Highly recommend!

The alpaca farm is located in Upcountry Maui in the Kula area. Be sure to take your map! It is not well posted and you can think you are in a residential area without knowing at the end of the road is the lane to the alpaca farm. However, what a great location that takes you away from the beaches and typical tourist haunts.

This is a small operation but the tour guide, Erin, is certainly dedicated to these alpacas and angora rabbits. She was welcoming and patiently answered our questions. You are allowed to feed the females in one fenced area (the males are kept in other fenced fields) while Erin takes your picture (AirDrop to you later). Next is the angora rabbits where you can sit with a towel on your lap while you hold and stroke these silky creatures — very docile and seem to appreciate the attention. Next is the demonstration of how the sheared alpaca fur is cleaned, carded, and spun. Erin gave us an excellent demonstration and each person gets the chance to try their hand. The small gift shop has many items made from alpaca and angora fur plus skeins of yarn are available for purchase.

The admission charge is $79 per person, which seems a bit much for the experience. But if the money helps to grow the operation and maintain the flock, we were quite happy to pay.

My husband and I were looking for something a little off the beaten path and I do have a soft spot in my heart for animals and have always wanted to meet alpacas in person. You definitely need google maps to get you to the farm, but once you are there, it is so gorgeous and you get to interact with a lot of Alpacas and feed them! Sassy girl is the most social, but there was also a cute baby and a few others who will come right up to you for food. We also got to pet and hold the angora bunnies and learn about the farm and more about alpacas in general. Erin was phenominal and I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone who wants a different experience in Maui - kid friendly as well!

The Alpaca Trekking activity is totally fascinating and wonderful. The farm is located in a very peaceful upcountry farm, with a lovely view of central Maui and a cooler climate. Padma met us for the tour and was extremely knowledgable about all things alpaca and angora bunny! We enjoyed walking the alpacas, giving them a treat and then spending time loving on the very cuddly angora bunnies. This is a totally unique experience and we highly recommend it. We would definitely do it again.

We thought this might be a good stop on our visit to Haleakala. It's in a residential area and there is zero signage on the way. At the end of the road is a private driveway for a couple of homes, one of which matched the address. We continued through this area and arrived at the sign saying reservations required. DIdn't know about this policy, so we bailed. An interesting neighborhood and we saw some goats a few houses before this driveway so that's something.

The views were great while having some fun with the Alpacas and bunnies. Learned a lot about them and the history of them. Our guide was so friendly and informative. She was also very flexible with my toddler. It's a nice pace and different from the beaches. Something I would recommend if you're in the mountain.
