Marilyn, our guide and the owner, is so friendly, knowledgable and eclectic and clearly has a passion for Maui's agriculture. I was so impressed that she runs the entire business on her own and does such a great job while having so much fun. We explored a dragonfruit farm and learned a lot about indigenous plants and those brought over by the Polynesians, and enjoyed a delicious picnic lunch overlooking the ocean. We then tasted several different coffees at MauiGrown and even got to eat coffee cherries straight off the tree. The best part about this tour is that it's all-inclusive and you are driven from farm to farm, which makes it easy to focus on enjoying and learning. Marilyn is truly a jill-of-all-trades – she makes her own soap and serenades you with a ukelele for the tour's grand finale!

We went on the Wine tasting tour w/visit to Lavender Farm. We wanted to go to the winery, goat farm and Ocean Vodka. Spent way to much time at the Lavender Farm, it is beautiful, but only for a short visit. So we missed out on the things we wanted to see.

Also, got tired of our driver and her microphone.

What a great day we had with Marilyn of Maui Country Farm Tours on our deluxe (and tailored) upcountry farm tour. From sampling locally made chocolates to pineapple wine and goats cheese, as well as lavendar scones and tea, we had a fabulous (and filling) foodie's day out. The Kula Marketplace was also excellent, stocking a broad range of locally made products and treats. We traversed gorgeous countryside with spectacular views of the island and were regaled with stories, history and facts. Marilyn was an enthusiastic and delightful host who is very proud of Hawaii and her island home on Maui. I look forward to my return!!

The Maui Coffee Tour introduced us to the coffee industry of Hawaii, both past and present, big and small. Marilyn met our ship at the port in Lahaina and we gathered under the famous Banyan tree for photos before our van ride into the hills of scenic Maui. We began with a tasting tour with explanations at the MauiGrown Coffee Company Store, where we learned enough about the coffee we enjoyed to take advantage of the charming store's ample supply of unique coffee and tea blends. In addition to the coffee, we purchased a book there about the Maui coffee industry so that all of the wonderful gems of knowledge shared with us by Marilyn and her coffee tour hosts would not be forgotten in time. We shared more wonderful coffee and what almost felt like an eco tour with Greg at his Piliani Kope Farm. It was interesting to hear how they maintain 'unofficially' organic farming methods. We had no idea how labour intensive coffee farms and plantations are. Our ShoreTrips package, through whom we purchased this tour, included a charming lunch, and even sliced mangos from the freshly fallen fruit picked up by tour mates prior to our meeting point, thanks to Marilyn's extra attention. Marilyn was an excellent hostess and even shared her ukelele talents with us as we ate. Our tour finished with a drive into Kaanapali Coffee Estates and a chance to gaze from a viewing platform at the many different coffee plant types carpeting the hills between the sea and the mountains. We have a whole new appreciation for both the taste of coffee (spoiled for Hawaiin coffee now) and the efforts of the growers in Maui. I'm a travel agent, so I'm a bit picky when it comes to touring, and especially about the little things like the 'meet and greet', and organizational flow. I applaud this tour for its relaxed, yet interesting, nature and recommend it to Maui visitors, particularly if they love coffee or aren't sun-seekers. Thanks Marilyn and all of your coffee friends! We booked through Island marketing and didn't really know what to expect however we were very , very pleased with the tour. Marilyn met us at Lahaina from the Golden Princess .There were just the two fo us in the tour so we had a brilliant opportunity to ask Marilyn all sorts of questions about the area.We visited lots of different places and, some of the highlights were the Maui coffee company and sampling some of the best cofee around, we had the most wondeful lavender scones at the lavender farm and sampled pineappple wine at the winery. We were even serenaded by Marilyn and her ukelele on the terrace at the lavendar form overlooking the japanese garden.
Marilyn was enthusiastic, delightful company and very informative, her love for the island shone through and we ended the tour having a greater awareness about the real island than some of our fellow passengers

If you want to see more than the typical tourist traps, get to know some locals, be provided with a narration of the rich history of the farming community, and partake of Maui’s bounty, then take this tour. Marilyn picked us up at the pier in Kahului (we arrived on the Pride of America) while her husband, Rick, was picking up passengers from another ship in Lahaina.

Marilyn first took us to watch some surfers (and a turtle) riding the waves, then into the hills we went. We drove along back roads, and through the small village where Rick grew up. We stopped at the edge of a pineapple plantation just to check out how the fruit grows. As soon as we walked into the fields, all you could smell was pineapple. All this time (and for the rest of the tour) Marilyn, who was very friendly and full of cheerful enthusiasm, told us about the history of the farming community and the local people.

We next visited Maui’s Winery, which had a wonderful assortment of goodies, where we met up with Rick and his guests. Outside, a group of children were practicing on their band instruments for a concert later on. We strolled around the grounds, made a short stop at the Ulupalakua Ranch Store, and then headed for the Ali'i Kula Lavender farm. There we wandered through gorgeous gardens, had some coffee while Marilyn entertained us with her ukulele, and had a nice picnic lunch. On the way back to Kahului, we made an additional short stop at a local farm stand.

All in all, it was a very pleasant, relaxing day with charming hosts. It’s funny… before I visited Maui I always pictured the typical tropical paradise, but now I have a completely different perspective. When I think of Maui now, I think of its rich history and of it being a very down-to-earth place with welcoming, good-natured folk who express the real meaning of aloha.

OUTSTANDING!! That is the one word I would use to decribe this tour! We were picked up by husband and wife,Marilyn and Rick in their 8 passenger bus at Lahaina port. That is where the Golden Princess docked. I had booked through Island Marketing (Cayman). I had booked through them for tours in Jamicia, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Tour length 7-8 hours

From the beginning you could just tell this was going to be a different tour than what the cruise ship was offering even with the extra cost of picking us up in Lahaina. There were 3 couples so it was like they were speaking to just you as they decribed Maui and their love for this island. Rick stopped several times to point out different points of interest and then tell us what the area looked like 30 years ago. We made several stops for breath taking views and photo ops. He told of growing up on the island and what he did as a young boy and man. They stopped at a pineapple field and Rick explained about them and how they were harvested etc. He showed us his home town as we made our way up the mountain. Being a small bus he could go into areas the bigger buses could not so we got to see some outstanding country side. We stopped at the winery where we sampled all kinds of wine. Marilyn told us about the trees and the landscaping. We next went to the Lavendor farm. We had lunch and fresh pineapple and fruits. Marilyn and Rick next arrainged for a private guide to tell us about all the different lavendor plants and all the other ones they were growing! Talk about informative! The tour was worth just that part of it. After the hour long tour we had tea and cookies! What a great touch. Oh I forgot to mention that that Marilyn played the Ukela and sang for the majority of the trip! We just loved the way she sang and the way her and Rick talked to each other and us. And she was quite good! All varietiy of songs. Very talented! Marilyn and I talked about my rose garden and flowers that I have. I showed her some of the pics that I have on my I-Phone. As a departing gift she gave each couple as book she wrote her self and did all the drawings. She gave my wife a book titled Imaginations, first in the series of how to make a dream come true. Since I had talked to her about flowers she gave me a book, How Does Your Garden Grow "Organically of Course!" Talk about a talented lady!!! WOW!! Big MAHALO , Marilyn and Rick.

If you book this tour you WILL NOT be disappointed!

Thanks again Marilyn and Rick!

The tour was not the typical tour. We were picked at the Kahului Harbor by Rick and Marilyn. We were traveling on the Disney Wonder on Disney's first cruise to Hawaii. We visited Paia, the Pineapple Farms, the Ulupalakua Ranch Store and Maui's Winery. We had a picnic lunch at the AKL Lavender Farm. The last stop was the Surfing Goat Dairy. The places we visited helped us understand Maui's contribution to the effort of all Hawaii to grow their own food and depend less on imports. The Lopes are long-time residents of Maui and share the history of the Island with passion and love. They understand the big picture but also have wonderful stories to share. It was delightful excursion and well worth the time and cost. We were the only people on the tour but it would be a great tour for families with children and teens. We want to go back and do it again.
