Booking a hike with Randy while visiting Maui is an absolute must!! Not only does he possess a wealth of knowledge about the history of the island and its beautiful flora and wildlife, but he also has a warm, engaging personality that makes the experience even more enjoyable. We explored hidden trails with bamboo, fruit trees, wading pools and several waterfalls. He takes his time to make sure you are comfortable with the pace and difficulty level of the hike, and he explains how best to navigate the terrain to ensure your safety is a priority. I was recovering from a pulled calf muscle so he took extra time to explain how to cross the water so I didn’t have to hop on the rocks and risk re-injuring my calf. And since I was traveling solo, he also volunteered to take photos at each point of interest. Hiking with Randy was a highlight of my trip to Maui, and I will definitely book another hike the next time I’m on the island.

My family and I just got back from a trip to Maui where we spent a morning hiking with Randy. From start to finish, Randy had every detail managed perfectly. He was responsive from my first email to the time we got back to our car when the hike was over. The entire experience felt like it was tailored around my family and what we wanted to do, rather than going on a pre-set, touristy hike. If you want to hike and learn about Maui from a "local" Randy is your guy. He is so knowledgeable about all aspects of the island, past and present, which made the entire experience such a great use of the time we had. My daughters are 12 and 15 and both really enjoyed the hike and my husband was thrilled that Randy modified the route to get us back to the car a little sooner than planned. Our hike was beautiful and we saw no one during the entire morning while on the trail which was nice considering the amount of people that came to the area as we were leaving. Randy has really put a lot of effort and thought into the service he offers and has worked out every detail so that his clients have a safe and worthwhile time. Whether you are a recreational hiker looking to do a casual hike to see some waterfalls or serious, crazy hiker looking to walk eight hours across the crater of Haleakala, Randy is your guy on Maui. I doubt there is any kind of excursion he could not do or in the case of more rigorous hike, help arrange for you.

My three friends and I — all women in our mid- to late- 60s — had an incredible experience on our West Maui Mountains waterfall hike. All of us have been coming to Maui for years and have done all of the usual “touristy” things. This hike is definitely not your typical tourist attraction, and you will see and experience a part of Maui that most others never will. Randy is an experienced and very knowledgeable guide, and this is the type of hike where having a guide is critical to the overall experience. He knew the best route through the trail, where to cross the creek bed and which stones to step on, where to take the best pictures, and could point out and name every tree and fruit growing on the trees, some of which we were able to sample and eat. Safety is Randy’s #1 concern, and he paces the hike according to the participants’ abilities. You will finish the hike feeling exhilarated and with new Maui memories unlike any other you are likely to experience on the island.

I can't say enough good things about Randy!! Randy took my mom, sister and I out for the Maui Waterfall hike this past week and it was everything we were looking for in an authentic Maui hike. We didn't just want to walk down a path and call that a hike. We wanted a real hike, and to see the natural beauty of Maui, and Randy delivered! He took us through the rainforest, where we crossed water streams, jumped off a waterfall, and tried strawberry guava (very delicious).

We were a little nervous about even going on the hike in the first place because my mom recently hurt her shoulder and has very little mobility in her right arm, but Randy was AMAZING and was so patient with her and guided her every step of the way! If it were any other tour guide my mom might not have made it, but Randy is such a professional and let her hold onto him throughout the whole hike, so she never fell and always felt safe.

He is a fantastic tour guide and is so knowledgeable about Maui and its history. His tour was one of our favorite activities we did in Maui all week! We will definitely be coming back for round 2 next time we visit :)

My family and I went on “The West Maui Waterfall Hike” with Randy on Wednesday 1/6/21. We had a great time hiking and learning about Maui’s history, it’s geography, flora and fauna. Randy was patient and cautious in guiding my husband and I plus our daughters; 14 and 11 yo, along the hike. We hiked down the roots of a Banyan tree which was super cool; got our adrenaline pumping for sure! Plucking sweet strawberry guavas right off the guava tree and popping them straight into our mouths was another highlight.
The hike was amazing and we highly recommend a hike with Randy.
Thank you Randy. Namaste and Mahalo

We did a full day West Maui hike with Randy, and it was excellent. We saw a total of six other people during the hike, and four of them were residents. Highlights included swimming in pools and under waterfalls, and hearing from Randy's vast knowledge about the area. He tailored our hike to match our skills and what we wanted.

We did this hike yesterday with Randy. It was amazing! Awesome! Exactly as described. Randy is very knowledgeable about Hawaii, the history and geology of Hawaii. Even the youngest of our kids understood and appreciated what he was teaching us. The hikes were amazing and beautiful! I cannot even put into words how amazing it was! Just stunning scenery!! Well worth the money! Would definitely recommend this for anyone! Randy thank you so much for such an amazing experience! Hope to see you again on a future vacation!

Randy took great care to make our half day hike truly memorable. He took an out of shape, bad knees and back, elder couple into the trails along a beautiful stream showing encyclopedic knowledge of local history and botany. Waterfalls were the highlight, but Randy’s knowledge and ability to bring it all to light was a close second. Limitations on moving about were no problem for our guide who took just enough precautions to make us feel safe but pushed just enough to make it all enjoyable. Highly recommend Randy and his skills!!

My husband and I went on 2 different hikes with Maui Hiking Safaris, and each hike was amazing. The guide, Randy, was a wealth of information about local history, plants and language. One of our hikes was just the 3 of us, and the second hike was with another couple. We walked through bamboo forests, crossed streams, and climbed up to waterfalls. I am not a very experienced hiker, and Randy helped me build my confidence and skills. He explained the hiking plan, what to expect and covered all the safety guidelines before we started. During the hike, we were guided through every type of terrain and obstacle. Randy was always there to offer advice and a hand if needed. After the hikes, I felt stronger and more capable than I had felt in years. We both felt that the hikes with Randy were definitely the highlight of our trip to Maui.

Randy was just great. He gave us some fascinating details during our hike. We had a fun time navigating the trails, while seeing water falls, bamboo forests, scenic views.
I can't say enough good things about Randy and how he made the adventure very personal for my family. I highly recommend using Maui Hiking Safaris.
