While visiting Maui for Christmas with our group of nine, I was introduced to Na Lio Maui. This show included a Hawaiian/western style barbecue dinner and live show including horses and riders. The barbecue dinner was a pleasant change from the traditional luau fare served at most shows and was well prepared. The staff took great care seeing to our every need. The show presented the history of horses and cattle in Hawaii. The highlight for the women in the group was the meet and greet at the end with the horses and riders of the show.

Having been to Maui multiple times, I found this show to be a wonderful and unique change from the more traditional luau type show. I would recommend this show to all but especially to those who are looking for some Hawaiian history different than you will find elsewhere.

We thoroughly enjoyed the dinner/show. The BBQ dinner was tasty and filled us up. The musician, one of Maui's most well known slack key guitar artists, George Kahumoku, sang and played most of the evening. In Na Lio we see and hear the history of the horse and cattle in Hawaii. It is charming, it is delightful, The horses are beautiful, the riders are talented, the dancers performed with grace and humor. I just love paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) hula! The show is kind of silly at some points, people dressed in long trench coats and hats with horns represented the cattle. But the the horses were real. I think if you are interested in Hawaiian history and want something a little different, Na Lio will fill the bill. There were no children present at this performance. I would guess that the evening might be a little too long for them. A lot of the dialogue between the two paniolos is almost in pidgin so it might be hard for kids to follow. But I whole heartedly recommend this show to those who want to see something a little different in a gorgeous setting on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains.

This show has it all! Beautiful scenery, dancers, music and HORSES!! If you are looking for something new to do on Maui - this is it. From the convenient parking and elegant sign-in location you are treated to a mini bus tour above Lahaina town to the event venue. The scenery is breathtaking as you climb up into the West Maui Mountains to the show location. The guides on the bus are excellent, giving you a tidbit of Maui history and some insights into the performance you are about to experience. Upon arrival at the farm, you are treated to unique & tasty locally made snacks & beverages while you are entertained with an excellent pre-show of live music and dancers. The show itself is spectacular. The story of the little-known history of horses in Hawaii is revealed in a most wondrous performance. Everyone's attention was on the stage for the whole show - even the kids! There is action, romance, history and George Kahumoku Jr. with his award-winning Hawaiian Slack Key music. Our family especially enjoyed visiting with the horses and riders after the show - what a treat! You will leave with smiles in your faces and great memories to take home with you. If you are visiting Maui, this is a MUST SEE!!!

We paid for the best seats which included a snack box. Upon arrival, they were confused as to where to seat us. The "best" are front row and a bit nicer chair, but don't waste your money, the other seats are just as good.
The Snack Box is definitely not worth $25. Eat dinner prior to going and they provide snacks and beverages.
Buy the least expensive ticket if you must try it.
I would not recommend it however.

After reading the PR materials I expected to see examples of paniolo riding. This is definitely not that. First, the pros: beautiful setting, a chance to see how the rich live above Lahaina, very friendly and welcoming staff, the slack key guitarist and singer was very good. Cons: An amateur dramatic production, 6 beautiful horses most of which paniolos would not have had, riding demonstrations in basic dressage style. It was a disconnect for me.

The show was a unique view of the history of horses on the island of Maui. It's not your average hula show that you can find at any hotel. The grounds are beautiful with breathe taking views of the ocean and near by islands! The riders and horses are exquisite and beautiful. The office is located in a very accessible location with a shuttle service. I will definitely be going again and will recommend to everyone! Loved it!

If you've been to Maui many times and think you've seen it all, you ain't seen nothing yet. The setting is spectacular to start. You arrive at the arena just before sunset and greeted by great staff, horses and a wonderful band playing well know Hawaiian songs. The show is the story of the Hawaiian cowboys, paniolo, including how horses arrived in Hawaii and how the paniolo learned their skills. The story is told in a one of kind presentation of horse back riding, unique dance, talk story and music from the band and the legendary George Kahumoku. This is a must see show.

From the friendly check-in staff in the office, the efficient bus drivers that take you in air-conditioned comfort to the private show location, to the amazing views you get when you arrive there, this experience is already a winner.
The show itself is a wonderfully beautiful story filled with witty banter, dancing, and horsemanship. The story is historical and well-written and the cast behaves quite professionally.
Highly recommended both for the surroundings (you can't beat the view) and the unique experience it provides for locals and tourists alike!

A thoroughly enjoyable evening spent in an intimate setting with an excellent paniolo barbecue dinner followed by an entertaining and educational performance. Emmy award winning singer and slack key guitarist George Kahumoku, Jr. entertained as we arrived and through dinner, then continued through the performance. Hula, story telling, and demonstrations on horseback told of the arrival of horses in Hawaii and how they became a part of the paniolo culture. Elements of dressage, jumping, and western riding were entertaining and well done.
