I signed up for snorkeling and kayaking for Wed at 7am. Well, No one else signed up. Got a call the day before and I agreed to join the 8am kayaking (only) instead. Went out with 2 other couples and “Armadillo”. He led us to spots where we saw turtles, some flying fishes and a few tropical fishes. Armadillo kept the group attention with his knowledges and banters. I enjoyed the 2hrs of paddling.

Maui Seas provided an exceptional sunset dinner and whale watching tour. They were extremely informative, very safety oriented and yet fun for all. The captain steered us to see whales as close as possible and the views were wonderful. The ocean was a bit more rough than I would have liked, but I managed to enjoy a delicious buffet and unlimited top shelf bar. The service crew were excellent. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend this company. We did a Hawaiian Outrigger experience near Wailea Beach, organized through our hotel. It was AMAZING. It was so much better than I thought it was going to be. Our guide, a native Hawaiian, gave a chant (blessing?/request?) before we went out on the water. That was special. We heard stories, we paddled (easier than I thought, there was also a 5-year old) and saw sea turtles (these folks know where they are) and flying fish (malolo, not mullet). They also sent us photos and a video afterwards.

We had a terrible experience with Maui Outdoor sports today. The company failed to provide the trip at he scheduled time and ruined our plans for the whole day. Then, when we finally went on the tour, the guide left me alone in the boat with two young kids and left. My kayak was washed to the shore and I had to get two young kids ages 3 and 8 out of the kayak out of the boat by myself and make sure the kayak didn’t wash away. I have back problems and didn’t appreciate having to drag the kayak out of the water by myself with two kids in it. Also, I found the tour guide to make mocking and disrespectful remarks about our family. Never again!

I have so much compassion for you and the situation. You arrived late, already in a bad mood with your husband shouting at you and your kids, only to find out that we had a technical glitch and had not received your reservation from the Internet. I apologized profusely and started giving you solutions to the problem. Your husband continued to shout at you, and also at me, so you began demanding that I fix the problem and give you something over and above the trip to make up for the inconvenience. I treated you as a treat all our customers, with kindness and love. I scheduled you on a private trip with your own guide for later that afternoon, and gave you a refund. I then offered you free beach rentals for your kids and walked you down to the beach to wait for your tour time. All of you seemed quite happy with the solution and showed back up later for your schedule tour time. Our guide that took you out is a wonderful and respectful man. He gave you the tour as described but about halfway through your husband began complaining that his back was hurting and that he didn’t think this was supposed to be a kayak trip and that you had misinformed him. He demanded that we end the trip immediately and take you back. At that point he got out of his kayak which her shared with your young daughter and left her alone in the kayak on the ocean. Our guide went and recovered her, attached her kayak to his own and started to tow her back. Meanwhile you and your other daughters decided at that point to beach your kayak by yourselves leaving the guide who was tending to the daughter that was alone. As soon as our guide saw this happening he came back, still towing the first daughter, to help you. All throughout the trip he checked in with you to make sure everything was OK and you repeatedly told him YES with laughter and smiles and even tipped him $20 at the end of the trip. As you can imagine, he was very upset when he saw your review, knowing that he had lead an excellent trip and done right by your family. I see you have posted this review on both Yelp and Tripadvisor and again I have compassion for you that you feel the need to slander our company with untruths, however, I know that we value every guest and spread love and kindness everywhere we go, not just in our business but also in our daily lives. We did our absolute best to make things right by you and all of our 5 star reviews can attest to this fact. I send you and your family much love and aloha.

What can I say... This was the most amazing tour my sister and I have ever booked. I wish I never booked the Molokini tour (with another company) and just did the Maui Ocean Sports Kayak and snorkel twice. Our guide, Jason, has the biggest heart in the world and taught us so much about kayaking, snorkelling, Maui, and all the creatures we encountered. We got to see Cecelia the monk seal basking in the sun, tonnes of amazing fish, coral, and more green turtles than I could ever imagine. The trip ended with a visit from a beautiful octopus. Views of the island while kayaking were stunning but Jason was truly the highlight of our tour. If this tour wasn't booked for the last day of our trip we 110% would have booked again just to hang out with Jason out on the water some more. Thank you for being the highlight of our entire trip Jason, we will be back and will re-book with Maui Ocean Sports! Do yourself a favour and skip the Molokini tour and book any (or all) of the tours that Maui Ocean Sports offer :)

We had a great two hours kayaking out on the water with Mark. He was very attentive to the fact that we are a bit older and needed to take our time. He was informative about the waters, the sea life and the islands in general. The highlight was when he took us to the waters that had an abundance of sea turtles!!! I was in my glory! Thank you Mark. I won’t forget that adventure!

Unfortunately I would avoid if you have not kayaked before. It was our first time so we got left behind twice until we threw in the towel. Felt a little embarrassed.

We felt the instructions was ever so slightly rushed, so we were under pressure to get it straight away. The 3 stars are for the manager who stepped in after the tour left to teach us one on one. I just wish the booking had been just a little clearer and stated this was not for first timers. For the 11am, try and get there 15mins before (again not stated on the booking)

Good luck all. Peace and love.

This was a fun excursion. We had kind of a big group and so it seemed to impact the overall trip. We got to do some snorkeling, see some cool things and then go to deep water. I would certainly recommend as a way to get out there and see some fish.
This is how it goes.
You get to the shop. The email advises to get there 15 minutes early--I couldnt tell if that was 15 minutes before the 7 am meeting or 715 start and we had traffic SO we got there around 655 but it worked out fine.
If you need to use the bathroom they have a key they will give you.
There are nonsecure cubbies you can leave your stuff in
They will hand you some stuff--you fit for flippers. Then you put that in a bag with the snorkels.
They we walked down to beach.
The kayaks seat two so if you have an odd numbered group you will share boat with a new friend.
We kayaked a short ways to the area to snorkel. The coral is very close to surface, and this is heavily trafficked area but if you have patience you will see some cool things different fish and I saw an eel. As this is by the coast it is diffrerent experience than if you are used to going on snorket trips off boats. You are allowed to swim out to close the breakers. The area is fairly large and once you have mask on harder to find people so if with family I would discuss your plan before you get in the water
For us we stopped and put our kayaks on beach while doing this so you could leave your hat/glasses for instance on the kayak. Apparently sometimes they stop somewhere an anchor to snorkel-I dont know how that would work to get in and out of the boat. But I asked the guide if I could bring my hat/glasses and he said basically it was "on me" but I think what he meant was it? might get wet? I definitely recommend glasses and hat as you will get burnt otherwise--there is a netting at the front of the Kayak so I think even if you did snorkel from anchored area off shore you would be ok.
Then after this you get back in the kayaks and go out to a deep area past the reef.
Then you go back.
We had pretty basic snorkeling and kayaking skills (I last snorkeled ? 25 years ago My kids have snorkeled on their own but had never been on snorkeling trip before. ) and did fine but they dont give you a lot of guidance so I guess if you are timid about this sort of thing or not sure how to clear mask/snorkel etc might ask guide before start. Maybe if the group was smaller. While the fins give you power I would not do this trip if I was not a competent swimmer.
With as packed as Maui is I was just grateful to get on a tour.
I recommend this as a good basic tour, getting you out into the coral safely and into deep water.
Suggestions:
-bring dry clothes so you can explore Lahaina after
-use a rash guard and lots of sun screen (reef safe of course) I
-wear old hat and glasses if worried about losing them but wear them
-maybe look up the fishes of Hawaii before so you know what you are looking at. It would have been cool if they had a paster or something in the shop.
-leave your shoes at the shop.
-bring some cash for tip

We had an awesome time with Lars on our kayak tour. It was just my wife and I so really a private tour. After a safety talk we headed out to the kayaks. I am 6’3” tall so the double did not work for me. Lars spent a few minutes customizing seat placement on the kayak so It fit perfectly amd comfortably. Superior customer service there. We paddled out and saw a lot of turtles and even a monk seal. The seal was funny as it would surface right by the kayaks and snort! Lars provides a really nice relaxing day. We floated when we wanted to to watch the sea life and paddled when we needed to. All in all a great day. Mahalo Lars!

Beautiful views and we got to see a lot of turtles. We felt like it was missing more informative information about Hawaii. I felt like the paddle was great until we got far enough to hop in safety. I felt like if I braught my snorkeling gear this would have been more fun.
