- CharmedTravelerer22 contributionsCocktail Luau option is the best!We opted out of the full buffet and came later for the cocktail and show portion of this Luau. We were led to great seats and we thoroughly enjoyed the show and drinks! We ate a sit-down dinner elsewhere on property and were told to show up at 6:15. The bartender did a great job of mixing zero-proof drinks for the non-drinkers as well. The price was good, too!Visited June 2019Written January 7, 2020
- enameyRaleigh, North Carolina65 contributionsLoved it - didn't want it to endYou would never know they do this show three times a week the way the emcee greeted and welcomed the attendees and made everyone feel like ohana. The setting was beautiful, the performers were friendly and engaged, the emcee was amazing, the food was delicious, and the dancers did their thing. The experience introduced our kids to the Pacific Islands culture and they loved it. I'd definitely recommend - and go for the priority seating, worth it.Visited January 2020Written January 20, 2020

I will say the walk from the valet drop off to the luau entrance was long for a mobility challenged member of our party. A few craft stations are set up around the area and professional photography is available (for a price). We were looking forward to watching the cliff diver at sunset, but he was upstaged by whales breaching just offshore! Don’t miss the Imu ceremony. Buffet is impressive and moved quickly. Dancing is lovely and MC does a terrific job. The highlight of the evening is the fire dancing! 2nd time attending this luau; first time was ~8 years ago and it was better then. I say this because the fire dancing portion was more extensive and impressive back then, not sure why it was reduced. Even so, much preferred to Old Lāhainā Luau (which has no fire dancing at all).Visited February 2020Traveled with friendsWritten March 15, 2020

Went to this luau on our very last evening and it didn't disappoint. Host was very entertaining and funny. Dancers were amazing and the history behind the Hawaiian luau is very interesting. Weather turned out to be beautiful, which helps when you are sitting outside for a few hours.

Since all of the luau's on Maui are priced within dollars of each other (except the really high end stuff), cost is not that much of a factor. Location for Maui Nui is great at the Sheraton, parking is validated in the garage, grounds are very nice and you have great views of Black Rock and the water. Group photos are about twice as expensive as they should be for a plain paper folder. Pretty good show including the non-Hawaiian fire dance but I guess it is expected. Drink line is a little long after the premade drinks get handed out.

Our family of 4 enjoyed this luau on the grounds of the Sheraton Maui Resort. It was our kids' (14 & 9) first luau, and they enjoyed trying a number of foods they hadn't experienced before, which was a "win" since these kids are notoriously picky eaters lol. The price tag for this event is high, but the venue, food quality, resort grounds, ocean views, and entertainment quality are top notch. Open bar, but the drink list was short and basic, no craft cocktails here. We (mom & dad) have been to 2 other Luaus; Grand Hyatt in Kauaii (which was similar to this one in venue and quality), and another on Oahu (can't remember the name) that was more "traditional" in the sense it was not on resort grounds, so felt more "traditional) (dirt ground, picnic tables, more casual staff, more buffet style food & drink). Both types have their pros and cons, so find a place that meets your style/mood/group. I'd recommend Maui Nui Luau for those looking for a more upscale, yet still very laid back, experience.

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had on a vacation. Torrential downpour and high winds the whole time when we had called several times before hand and they had told us that it would have been moved indoors and we would been given the option of a refund if the weather would be bad. Clearly management didn’t want to give refunds, so it was forced outdoors and the weather was so bad we had to leave early. Every employee was also acting as if nothing was happening and that it was perfect weather which just added insult to injury. Food was left in the rain and was getting soaking wet and we were expected to eat as if we weren’t sitting in a monsoon. Will never pay for this experience again. Management down to employees need a reality check. Awful.

Everything about this luau is outstanding!
The setting at the Sheraton looking out at the ocean was fantastic! The food was great, the show was amazing! They have a photographer ready to take pictures as you come in. We accidentally left our picture on our table when we left! The hotel gave us the name of the event photographer, Marty Coon, at
Photos by Hopson. He was so kind as to send a duplicate of our photo to us !!! We would have been so disappointed to not have our photo to remember that special night!
The luau was our favorite night in Maui !

We reserved early to have a table closer to the front. Maui Nui Luau uses family seating of groups of 10 at a round table. Easier to visit with all the other guests. Buffet was excellent in variety of choices and quality. Entertainment was the same as other luau's we have attended in the past.

We have been here 6 times and have enjoyed it each time. The food has been great each time. On our last visit we made new friends that were from South Korea. We did not understand many words that each other spoke, but we had a great time.

We waited for naught! For years I've heard how the Sheraton's Luau was one of the best!
We were traveling with family that this was their first time to Hawaii, so of course that meant first time at a Luau.
I suggested this one, simply because of what I have read, and we hadn't attended ourselves yet.
I have been to others, so in comparison, here are my good/bad about the Sheraton.
1. I liked the lighting of the torches, and dive into the water
(that was really one of the selling points for me)
2. I liked the large area of seating, with round tables, only 8 per table, and was told they usually only take up to around 450 reservations. This particular nite, looked like it may have been about 200-250, so that was good. The tables are set up in a very large grassy area, but they were all pushed rather close to each other in front of the stage. There was a whole lot of available area, that the tables wouldn't have had to be set up so close to each other, (That was another one of the selling points for me)We chose a table in what you'd call the back, and on the outside of the setup, but was good, because we didn't have to try to move through all the tables to get drinks or food. It wasn't like a cattle call, long tables with almost virtually no room to get up from your chairs, that I've attended previously.
3. I liked the variety of food offered at the buffet
4. I liked the show. But it reminded me of nothing more than a high school musical. I know these luaus are a "production" but I felt this was just mediocre.
5. Imo, yes
6. Interaction with the crowd, yes
7. Firedance in closing, yes
8. Crafts? Hmmmmm,, a table with some jewelry, and some other assorted things that I felt wasn't indicative for a laua. I STILL have the bowl/roses, made from palm, that I bought back in 1993.
9. I PAID for this attraction, yet those who are guests at the Sheraton, or anybody merely walking around the grounds, can see this all for free. If I'm ever within walking distance of this, I just mite be tempted to do the same???
10. Bottom line is: You're in Hawaii, and if for first time, you SHOULD experience a Luau, but don't let the reviews of the famous Black Rock, lighting of the torches and diving off the cliff sway you into choosing the Sheraton as it did me

On March 2, 2015 my husband daughter and myself attended the luau at the Sheraton. We arrived at about 5:00 and parked in the Sheraton Parkade. Make sure you take your ticket with you as when you get signed in they validate your parking so that it only costs 2.00. Once you arrive at the luau there is generally a line up to get signed in. We had pre paid for our luau for premium seating and it was easier than to try and just show up and pay. Just before checking in they have photographers there that take your picture and then you have the option to purchase for 20.00. Once we were signed in at the desk, you walk through a pair of large tikis where if you are a woman you get a fresh lei and if you are a gentleman you get a wooden carved turtle on a necklace. The Samoan gentleman who greeted us took us up to our hostess but not before he ensured that we had a Mai Tai in our hand. When we were seated we had very good seats at the front, stage right beside the ocean. The seats were very good. Before the show started they had demonstrations such as coconut husking, an old game similar to bocce ball and some form of hand made stamping. Then they unearthed the IMU and that's when our emcee for the evening began to tell us all how things were going to work. When he finished they started selecting tables to head up to the buffet for our meals. The food was amazing, from Kalua pig, mahi mahi, teriyaki chicken, sweet potatoes, fried rice, fresh pineapple, salads, buns, just about everything you could imagine. After we Finished our dinner and got our desserts it was not long before the Tahitian dancers began the dinner show. The show was exemplary, lots of different types of dancing and they had a fire knife dancer at the very end. I highly recommend this luau to people of all ages.

My wife and I recently returned home to California from Maui. On this trip we decided to try the Sheraton "Kaanapali Sunset Luau at Black Rock" having attended the "Old Lahaina Luau" on our last trip. The Sheraton luau is only performed a couple nights a week while the "Old Lahaina Luau performs nightly. This trip we brought along four adult relatives. As instructed we arrived to the Luau at 5:00 pm only to wait in a long line of patrons also waiting to enter the Luau. It was very hot standing in line for about a half hour before a server finally provided a Mai Tai beverage to the adults. Many patrons faces and clothes were wet from perspiration. About another half hour went by before we were finally allowed to enter the lawn area where the Luau is actually held. We were directed where to sit and immediately offered adult or non-alcoholic beverages. The adult choices were limited and not quality brands. A male host standing onstage began to welcome the audience and direct the festivities. It was clear from the beginning that everything was orchestrated as to time. After a brief period the food was put out on long tables "buffet" style. Most of the food was pretty good except for the small piece of steak we were given which was grainy and tough. Throughout the dinner the host continued to talk about everything and anything. The performance by the dancers was good including the fire dancer. The entire act by the dancers is only about 20 minutes as the host utilizes a lot of time (fluff/filler) to thank everyone in the world and especially the audience for weddings, anniversaries, military service etc.. Overall, the luau was pretty good but not as good as the " Old Lahaina Luau" in our opinion. The cost is about the same $98.00. The outdoor setting is better at the "Old Lahaina Luau" and the dancer performance better orchestrated. If you want to save money and go to the " Kaanapali Sunset Luau at Black Rock" simply stand on the open area pathways (perimeter) at the Sheraton like a lot of people did and watch the show for free. In essence, we paid $98.00 each for our dinner. Aloha.

$5 valet I was told when I called; but they did not ask for money when I arrived, so it's free for me.
It's a big resort, we had problem finding our way back to the front entrance; but if you use the public parking garage, just follow the crowd after the event.
Flower leis for everyone? Or just primary seating?

Yes flowers and handmade. The tables are round and I think they sit 10 per table. The tables are in rows. We were on the front and have to pay premium pricing. Great event. Also get the cliff diving.

Hi there, we're planning to visit Maui in July 2016, and would like to attend a luau, as we are staying in another resort and therefore would have to drive is there discounted parking available to us?
Many thanks

I believe parking for the luau is $5 only when booking the luau call them and they will tell you that and I believe you bring your parking ticket in to get stamped for the cheaper rate
