On our 10 day Maui trip we wanted to pack in as many dives as we could while still staying within our budget. We booked all 19 dives with Lahina Divers after some research and a recommendation from our local dive shop. We are so happy with our decision!
The crew, the boat, and both capitans (JT and Corey) are top notch. The crew's positive, spunky, and sassy personalities were the cherry on top of the scuba sundae. We got a chance to dive with each instructor and enjoyed getting to know each one of them.Their collective knowledge and stories are priceless! Special shout out to Parker, Kait, Corey, Connor, and JT- you guys are pros!
The boat ride to the sites vary, but rarely exceed a hour. Captain Corey got everyone amped up, smiling, and ready to dive by playing tunes on the ride. He also found time to idle the boat to hang out with dolphin pods we encountered and snuck in a view of the beautiful waterfalls on Molokai.
Prior to each dive we were given a thorough briefing of what to expect and what we might see. On the dives themselves the instructors were attentive while still expertly pointing out small creatures and doing their best to help us see the big stuff. I felt safe, relaxed, and had complete confidence in their abilities.
The dive sites offered are all beautiful. I highly recommend checking out as many as possible as they all have something unique to offer. In addition, if you book a certain amount of dives through the shop a discount is offered- definitely check on this.
We are so thankful for this experience and will recommend Lahina Divers to everyone we can. We already miss the ocean and are looking forward to returning to visit the awesome crew that became our friends.

I have dove with Lahina divers for over 10 years now and never had a bad experience. Boat is top knoch, crew is polite and helpful, shop is easy to work with, even if you need to adjust or switch your dives around.

I wouldn't recommend any other dive operation on the island and I have tried several of the top rated ones that compete with Lahina Divers and no one compares.

Today I finished my 8th dive of the week with Lahaina Divers. I had previously dove with them in 2017 and 2018. I have done the Molokini Crater trip three or four times, the Molokini Backwall twice, the Hammerhead site three times, the turtle reef once and the Lanai Cathedrals once. The staff is awesome in the store and on the boats. The briefings are full of info to keep you and the group safe. Some days the marine creatures cooperate, some days they do not. I have seen hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, white tip reef sharks, turtles, spotted eagle rays, octopus, blue trivally, yellowtailed snapper and giant trivally hunting them, lobsters, Hawaiian garden eels, moray eels and reef fish too numerous to name. The instructors and dive masters do a great job. I personally haven't experienced what the people with complaints in their reviews are complaining about. Methinks those complainers would be mad if their shave ice was cold.

If you are a beginner diver, I suggest the turtle reef or Molokini Crater. If you cannot handle the potential for rough seas or if you get seasick, check the forecast for the day you want to dive or take some medicine. The boats will go out, and it isn't the captain or crews fault if you puke.

The company is also in business to make money, and while it will go out of there are only 8 divers, it will also go with a full boat. The trip today was two groups, one with 10, one with 8. There was plenty of room to set up gear, get organized and dive. The crew was not frantic or chaotic. It was organized and methodical communication to get everyone in the water and diving and safe while we were dropped off and picked up.

If you love diving, want to go with staff who are experienced, have spacious boats and get to the best spots to see the best stuff, go with the folks at Lahaina Divers when you're on Maui and on the west side.

Took the two tank turtle dive with this company. It was a shallow dive and therefore did have some less experienced divers. I chose this dive because I wanted to see lots of turtles and wanted an easy and carefree dive. I have dozens of dives under my belt and felt this company did not take very good care of the people under their care and guidance. I would not recommend this company for anyone who may need a little more supervision, as the guide in our group literally took off on the dive without waiting for one of the youngest divers. Half way through the dive, another dive leader came swimming up with the young boy and handed him over to the guide. Guide Was totally oblivious that he was missing a diver from his group.

Also both dives were in exactly the same spot, boat didn’t even move and on second dive covered same area
as first. On the other dive, there were supposed to be 7 and dive leader. one guy we never saw again after descending as he swam off on his own. half the group swam off before dive master submerged. Guide never even cared and just started off on his path. This was in 30-35 feet of water so not that big of a deal but when you pay for a guided dive, I expect the dive leader to lead the group, make sure everyone is safe and staying together. Too many companies to choose from to end up with a group of young dive leaders who were more concerned about where they were going to party that night over making sure their divers were safe. Choose wisely.

We have dove in the past with Lahaina divers and enjoyed the experience very much so that we decided to come back and try it again. After we got on the boat, we were told that we’re only allowed one dive instead of two dives that were offered by all other companies for the equivalent price. We were also disappointed by the fact that our family of 4 wasn’t allowed to dive all together and were split up into separate dives due to a lack of instructors on board, which has never happened to us before. When inquiring about upgrading the certification for my daughter to open water, the office had no knowledge about the requirements needed. We were then told to ask the instructors on board what is required to upgrade. When we asked the instructors, we were told to send an email to tim@lahainadivers.com inquiring about the upgrade and never received a response to this day. Parker, our diving instructor made the diving experience extremely joyful but when we asked him why we only get one dive, he referred us to Jules due to being a newer employee. Jules respond to the question in a very unfriendly and passive aggressive manner. Although we had a great experience with Lahaina divers in 2012, because of our experience this past week, we will not be returning and cannot recommend them as a diving company.

Aloha, My name is Darla, and I would like to look into the experience you had further. I am sorry it did not meet with your expectations. Without knowing the booking name and date, I cannot provide complete information, but here are a few things for the future. Barring a very rare circumstance like mechanical failure or other emergency, the only charter where you would have had one dive is "Discover Scuba." This is for non-certified divers to try out scuba diving. The first part of the charter is spent in instruction on board, then participants do one dive with the instructor. As far as I am aware, Lahaina Divers is the only operator on Maui that offers this course from a boat, through special arrangement with PADI. Sometimes groups get split up based on the skill level of the divers, with newer divers needing more monitoring. This is not due to a lack of instructors, as we schedule an appropriate instructor or dive leader to diver ratio for each charter for the safety of each diver. I am not sure what the communication glitch may have been regarding the open water certification, but we do not generally schedule those classes during the Christmas holidays, as it is a busy time on the island and we are trying to meet many divers needs. Regardless, it seems we could have done a much better job with communication, and if you would like to contact me directly at aloha@lahainadivers.com I would be happy to look into this further, and answer any other questions you may have. Best regards, Darla

My family of four (including boys ages 10 and 11) did a two tank turtle reef dive the afternoon of 2/18/20. The staff in the shop were very nice and very helpful, but once on the boat the atmosphere was not good. Although our dive guide was calm and attentive, the boat captain/lead guide was frantic and mean. He treated everyone with disdain, and any small deviation from technique was treated as an emergency with a frantic and raised voice. It was a very poor environment for 2 young divers to be taking their first dives in the ocean, and was generally unpleasant. The boat was full to capacity and there was hardly room to sit down to put on your gear. The feeling was that the crew (and again, especially the captain) wanted to get as many people in and out of the water as fast as possible and get them back to land and off the boat. We did see plenty of turtles and a couple of reef sharks, but the second dive was in the exact same small area without moving the boat. Again, the feeling was rushed. I do not know what Lahaina Divers' other dives and captains are like, but I could not recommend this experience to other people on vacation, especially families or new divers.

This is a fantastic dive charter / dive shop. Every single one of the staff I interacted with were knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly (ie; they’ve got Big Aloha!). I wandered into Lahaina Divers on my first day on the island. The staff gladly answered my questions about dive trip availability, which trips my wife should go on (she snorkels, and some dive locations are better suited for snorkeling than others...), and what dives would be best for me (I hadn’t dived in some time). The great folks at LD convinced me to go diving, so I did! (they didn’t have to twist my arm too hard.....)

The dive boat and dive staff were fantastic as well: friendly, knowledgeable, and good communicators. Dive boats were typically split into 2 dive groups, each with a dive instructor, and perhaps a few snorkelers. En route to the dive location, the dive groups split into groups, and each group’s instructor would give their group a briefing. The briefing included what to expect at the dive site - fish we’d see, water conditions, whether to expect strong current, dive depths and times, reviewing hand signals and protocols, how to use the dive computer, etc. As a teacher myself, I was very pleasantly surprised at how the review of important info was woven into the simple story of “here’s what today’s dive will be like,” versus a boring “look at this dive hand signals chart. Look at this dive table. Any questions?” The briefing was fun and interactive.

The equipment we used was excellent. The dive boats are exceptionally well cared for, the scuba gear was excellent, and the dive shop had plenty of rental gear for those who didn’t want to travel with dive gear.

My dive trips were blessed with exceptionally good weather.

Parker, Capt. Sam, Nick, Morgan, Steve, Greg, and everyone else at Lahaina Divers: Mahalo for making my dive experience awesome!

I visited Lahaina divers in February 2020 with my wife. We had snorkeled previously but had not done scuba. We were looking for an opportunity to discover what it was like. We were part of a larger group of verified divers on the boat, but we had our own instructor. The drive site was only about 10 minutes away from the marina. We were given instructions on the boat then taken in the water to perform some skills. Then we were taken around for about 30 minutes at sound 30 feet. The dive site had lots of fish, turtles, and even some reef sharks. Brian was our instructor and did a great job and was very patient. There were 2 other participants that were discovering scuba as well and while Brian was working with them we were able to go snorkeling during that time. Overall it was an excellent experience and I would highly recommend this.

A few friends and I were looking to get PADI open water certified while we were vacationing in Maui, and decided to go with Lahaina Divers. The whole process was awesome from start to finish. Their equipment was new and high quality, and the Lahaina Divers team were super communicative and made sure we had a great experience. But special shout-out to our dive instructor Morgan who made it the best diving experience I’ve ever had (I had dived in Hawaii and Thailand prior). She was super professional, thorough and thoughtful and went out of her way to make sure we learned and practiced all the fundamentals, while making it fun and exciting at the same time. A few of us were somewhat nervous and she did an amazing job making us all feel comfortable on every dive. She’s clearly super experienced and detail oriented which is exactly what we were looking for in a dive instructor. Getting PADI certified was definitely the highlight of our trip in Maui, and I can’t recommend diving with Morgan enough. I wouldn’t hesitate at all to go with Morgan at Lahaina Divers if you’re looking to get certified, or if you’re an experienced diver looking to go on a few dives in Maui. Will definitely be hitting up Morgan again if I ever return to Maui.

It was great to get back in the water after months of social isolation and the Lahaina Dive crew did a fantastic job of making us comfortable and safe. They were great. We got in 4 dives on our 1st day. We had only planned on 2 dives, but when we heard how great the Turtle Reef dive was, we signed up right there on the boat. We got in 2 dives on our 2nd day, both at Molokini Crater - which happens to be my favorite dive spot and it didn'tlet me down! I'd like to say a special thank you to our guides Parker and Brian. Both were great, zen-like competent guides. They were great at pointing out fun stuff, knowledgeable about what we would find, and just fun. Captains Steve and Michael we're great too. Over the years our family has dived with Lahaina Divers every time we come to Maui and we've never been disappointed. Don't let COVID keep you away.
