This was our 5th or 6th time doing the Trilogy Lanai excursion wand we have never been disappointed. The Captain and crew were exceptional. Food and beverages were great as always; and the crew’s knowledge of the sea and whales makes this just the best trip. Don’t visit Maui without sailing with Trilogy.

Incredible sunset dinner cruise! Service went well beyond expectations by Captain Nick, Deck Hands Zack, Zack, Sierra, and Chef Justin. The pre-ordered cuisine was cooked to 5-star perfection. As a bonus, several mama whales with babies put on an impromptu performance with a few males vying for attention. Quite a show! Beautiful sights, sounds and a perfect dinner for a magical experience. Trilogy knows how to deliver more than they promise!

We did the sunset whale watch tour on 2/20/24. Can't say enough about how great the crew was. The food was very good and they had a nice selection of drinks. The crew was really pleasant and very attentive. Also, given that we were here in February, we had a great whale watch tour. Just a heads up that parking at the harbor is very limited so get there early to have time to find a spot. Again, the crew really made this trip great! #Trilogy

We have been on several Trilogy trips. Until this most recent trip, the prior trips were great. Given the positive prior experiences, I'm hopeful this negative experience was an isolated occurrence.

To start, the signage and directions to the meeting point were non-existent. We arrived well in advance of our departure, however had difficulty in locating the Trilogy staff on the beach. Even the staff at the Sheraton was not familiar with the meeting stop. Several other patrons experience the same issue. Prior to moving to the Sheraton, I don't recall any issues in the past with locating the meeting point.

My primary concern was the captain. My family of 4, and many other patrons were soaked head to toe from the start of the sail. The captain felt the need to chase whales in some really rough surf. While it is always great to see whales, I didn’t spend $500+ to chase whales and get soaking wet. I understand the likelihood of getting wet while on a boat and the know the ocean's waves are out of the crew's control. I didn’t care for the captain's carelessness of speeding across the water into the waves without any warning. Other than being wet and cold for most of the trip, having several drinks soaked with sea water, and wet food, stained clothes, it would have been a great trip. I hope others in the future have a better experience.

Again, out of the 4 trips we have been on, this was the only negative experience.

The crew was great. Very attentive and fun to be with.
However , slip # was changed from 62 to 99 and we had to race to catch the boat. And although we had been at the dock 45 minutes early because of the change we got stuck in the back of the boat with no view.
In addition , two appetizers advertised as part of the trip were not served , hummus and veggies and mozzarella skewers. Just feel that’s wrong for price paid.
Finally we entered harbor 15 minutes early which cut the trip and drinking short.
We have taken Trilogy many times in 30 years. Not our best trip

Trilogy is very highly rated so we booked the Sunset/Whale Watch sail out of Ma'alaea Harbor. I'm going to keep this short. It was disappointing. They kept the drinks flowing, which is why they probably get so many great reviews, but the crew (except for one sweet girl) just seemed to be going through the motions hoping to get it over with. I don't know any of their names because with the wind, we really couldn't hear well at all. The Naturalist was interesting and I liked him but unless you were directly on the bow of the boat, he was VERY hard to hear. I never heard any whale songs with a hydrophone, which was touted on their website. We saw a few whales from far away. We saw whales closer when we were on the shore. I know they can't control the whales, so I don't fault them for that. If you want a pleasant sail off the coast of Maui with lots of alcohol and some decent appetizers, this is a great excursion. If you want to really see whales, go with one of the raft companies. They were always right out where the whales were as they can travel so fast. If I had it to do again, I would do that instead of this.

Aloha! Wanted to share our adventure and how truly amazing it was. We were the 7am launch with Captain Riley and his crew. Right from the start you know you were going to be taken care of. Captain Riley checked everyone in and made you feel like OHANA. Once aboard the entire crew was very courteous, personable and attentive. Zach, Emma, Ash all took time to make conversation and really show an interest in you and where you were from.
Now this was where lemons made into lemonade. Winds kicked up hard and made venturing to Molokini undoable. Capt Riley called the audible and showed us an amazing time. Took us to an alternate spot that was amazing. Had the blessings of so many whales and we were the only boat around. Got hit with a blowhole spray and life couldn’t get any better. Whales got so close Ash able to drop camera in water and grab some pics…amazing. All I can say is that this crew made the day not only memorable but truly life changing. Never would I think we’d get that close to Gods amazing creatures. Many Mahalos to Captain Riley and his team. Will for sure see you all again. No Ka Oi!

We took the Lanai snorkel trip this time, it was so good! Seriously, it’s expensive, but we all felt well worth it. We were fed well, entertained, hydrated, educated(whales) and generally well-cared for.
The staff was one short. We had no idea.

Our captain, Mike was charming and fun. The company knows how to do this. They really do. We felt personally attended and really enjoyed the trip over to Lanai from Maui.

I must single out the staff member Utah for answering my many questions about humpback whales. I found him patient, passionate, knowledgeable and just a pleasant young man. This was not a whale watch, but we were treated to lots of whales. I was in heaven.

We will always have a Trilogy excursion on our Maui itinerary.
In future at least one Trilogy trip will be on our Maui itinerary. They consistently do a good job.

This was our splurge for our Maui vacation, and it was so worth it. Our Captain Turtle and his crew took fantastic care of us. We saw tons of whales, including breaching, classic whale tail dives, fin slapping on the surface, etc. We also got to enjoy a pod of dolphins cruising along with the boat for awhile. The whale activity alone was worth the price. On Lana'i, the snorkeling was excellent. Such a variety of fish, good visibility, and easy shore entry into the ocean. The food was really good and communal spirit on the boat that the crew created was great. I was nervous about spending so much on this excursion for me and my family, but it lived up to the price and then some. Incredible memories of experiencing/seeing nature in a way we otherwise would not have. Really glad we did it!
