About
Maui Diving and Lanai Diving - Extended Horizons Scuba offers tours and lessons on Maui and Lanai. Established in 1983, we are unique because our instructor/guides have extensive environmental training, we are the only commercial boat on Maui running on 100% biodiesel, We are the only dive shop running on 100% solar, and our dive guides are certified Naturalists with credentials from NAI. We helped found and fund the Day Use Mooring Program on Maui which prevents anchor damage and creates and maintains moorings for the State of Hawaii for the public and private sector. And we love diving!

Gu was our trainer for the PADI certification and was thorough and patient during the process; making sure each diver understood and could perform the exercises in water. He explained everything that would happen underwater and was able to present it professionally and with some humor added in. I would recommend this program to anyone wishing to get certified in an absolute beautiful diving environment.

My wife and I did our advanced open water certification with Extended Horizons and could not be happier with our experience. They were extremely helpful over the phone in terms of scheduling, talking about dives, e-learning, and pricing. Once on Maui, our instructor Chris was exceptional. He was very attentive to our diving and had many great tips and insights beyond the material strictly covered by the PADI course. We also appreciated all of the work he did to set up our gear and haul it around. The dive sites used for the course were all shores dives and were well suited for the course. I highly recommend doing Wreck as one of the AOW dives as we got to do Mala Pier which was a fantastic dive. The night dive at Black Rock was also amazing. Overall this was a highly professional and educational experience and we would absolutely recommend doing dive training with Extended Horizons, particularly if Chris is available!

Just returned from a week in Maui including 4 days of diving with Erik and his team!
What an amazing experience! i am a diver with 25 dives and Erik made sure we had an unbelieve time. Captain Victoria was outstanding. She was so knowledgeable and her slate board tips on my diving technique helped me be a better diver as well as use less air. Her love of the sea world and knowledge of the ocean and dive sites really made things super easy and exciting. The fact that she found whales while on the way to the dive site was totally incredible.
Captain Steve and dive masters Emma and Mindy made the dives very easy and comfortable.
Cant wait to come back and dive again. Thanks so much Erik and Extended Diving for making my dives memorable.

I took and completed the PADI specialty course, "AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Specialty" online through Extended Horizons. The course took around 3 hours to complete. It included watching videos that were recorded by Extended Horizon's staff, and were done in a fun and casual yet professional way (typical EH style!) I learned so much about what affects coral, and how important coral conservation is. Before this course, i mistakenly thought there was nothing i needed to worry about, since i live in the middle of the US and there are no coral reefs around here! However, that is not the case. I appreciated finding out the importance of the reef system, their fragility, and what i can do, every day, to help conserve them. I enjoyed the course very much and highly recommend it to everyone, including non-divers.

Extended Horizons is the best diving company I found on Maui. I dove with 4 different companies during a week long trip and returned to EH for all of my last dives because of their fun and personalbe dive masters, environmental ethics, diving skills, great communication, amazing knowledge and an all around high quality diving experience. My last dive was an "ecodive" focused on bouyancy and Hannah worked with me to improve my hover, fin skills (I can go backwards! That's amazing) and other maneuvering skills. I highly recommend the eco dives as a way to take your diving to the next level, either in terms or skills (air conservation! bouyancy! fish ID!) or environmental impact (reef conservation, turtles!). My previous dives were also great, with a twilight and night dive at the same site, so we could see the change and be familiar with the dive details. Also a dive to Lanai Cathedrals with all of the amazing details mentioned in a previous review - knowledgable, thoughtful, kind dive masters and boat captain, great dive companions and all around extraordinary experience.

My son and I did a dive with Gabi from extended horizons. He has been diving about a year 6 open water dives previously. She made him feel very comfortable, was professional, friendly, and informative. Basically everything that I value in a dive master. Everything went perfectly as planned.
Extended Horizons picked a great site, with perfect visibility, and clearly communicated everything in advance. She taught us many things about the endemic species we saw. We were excited to hear whale songs throughout the dive.

We did a night dive at the iconic Mala Pier with Dive Master Brad. Brad held my hand as we entered the rocky entrance until I got my fins on, then the fun began! We saw an ornate octopus hunting(what a thrill), and zebra moray hunting, a rough spines urchin, brittle starfish, a white spotted Toby sleeping sheltered behind a wall, and snakehead cowry extending it's mantle. It was a spectacular night dive with an emphasis on safety. Dive master Brad(who is personality plus), helped me after we removed our fins(I am 65) by holding my hand with a firm grip as we exited the rocky area. Extended Horizons is the best dive shop hands down! Dive briefings and debriefings are thorough, the staff is wonderful. I highly recommend this outfit!

20 years of being kind to the environment with biodiesel, solar lighting in facility, solar to do double osmosis for fresh water in cleaned/sterilized water bottles and the best **** dive operation on the island. Eric is just a great, accomodating guy and it shows with his staff. Victoria knows where the best dives are going to be that day based on weather, currents and maybe a little bit of magic. 'Couldn't ask for a better boat skipper in good times or bad (no we've never had any bad times). We just get very tired of going to Cathedral 1 & 2 because first time visitors "like" to see what it's like. Nice but 20 years? But it's okay we still get wet.

Our group had both beginners and certified divers for a 2 dive Discover Scuba booking. The instructors, Emma and Gu were excellent. The lessons prepared the beginners well and there was plenty for the experienced divers to see. Mala Pier was a fantastic site for our second dive, while Airport Beach was a great spot to begin. Emma pointed out and identified things we would have missed, including a frogfish. You can’t go wrong with Extended Horizons. I look forward to our next trip to
Maui and our next dive with Extended Horizons.

I had not been diving in about 25 years. Did a one tank on the beach intro dive as if I had never dived before. The instructor, Phil, took three of us to a reef at Kaanapali. Nice sandy entrance and coral on both sides. I think our dive was less than 30 ft with about 30 ft of visibility. Phil was great and making sure everybody was safe any pointed out beautiful features of the reef. It was great to scuba again and I hope to dive with extended horizons during the rest of my trip.
