Sure it's a tourist trap but that's the point. It is a unique photo op with a selection of gorgeous birds. Must be an attraction, my wife makes a beeline to it every year when we're on Maui. BTW our wedding pictures have a Macaw perched on her shoulder

A picture experience. He places birds on you and then takes your picture for a price. Even if you don't get your picture taken it is fun to watch. He was right on front street when we saw him.

My wife and I had our picture taken right here in Lahaina bird stand 25yrs ago on our honeymoon and this week returned back to the same birdstand to reenact another photo for our treasured memories. I higjly recommend you to take part...it's so much fun and will bring laughter and joy for many many years!

imho its expensive to get a photo with a bird don't let him put one on you unless you are ready to part with $40 or more the sidewalk location makes it cheesy - but its where the tourists are the birds seem healthy.........but why no fly away?

We sent our picture to family on the east coast. They loved it and the fact I had a bird on my head just amazed my 5 year old grandson. It's a great way to make a fun lasting memory

Not a big fan of touristy areas, but this place is worth fighting the crowds. Very fun, spontaneous place to visit.

Pioneer Inn is great, but these birds are LOUD and can be very disturbing if you are staying in a corner room above their little photo area...

Can get some fun pictures and kids really love the birds - they are tame and you can even feed them - just along the street in Lahaina

The kids loved it! And let me tell you, it is not easy to get so many Parrots with so many personalities to sit still and pose at the same time. I am not sure if the birds have trained the photographer or the other way around. Some great shots the kids will treasure.

We have been going to Maui every year for decades. I'm not sure when we started doing 'the bird picture' but every few years now it is a tradition. The quality is great & the picture looks great. It doesn't look like you are standing under an umbrella on a curbside! Take the picture at the beginning of your vacation.... More
