Ultimate Whale Watch specializes in photographic, non-threatening...

Ultimate Whale Watch specializes in photographic, non-threatening close-encounters with Dolphins, Whales & Turtles since 1982. We have hosted film crews from National Geographic to BBC Wildlife. Operating within the Hawaiian Island Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, we depart from historic Lahaina Town, Maui. From December through May, Humpback Whale encounters are guaranteed and the crystalline offshore waters frequently provide a passing subsurface eye-to-eye view. Many people are truly touched by their experience amongst these intelligent giants.

Tour sizes are for small group whale encounters, 18 or less on a 24 passenger raft style rescue boat. Great maneuverability and speed get you to some of the closest whale action possible, in the world! To ensure current and competent information, the crew is involved with whale research and highly passionate about the whales.

We invite you to come and see for yourself, one of the last remaining great migrations of the Animal Kingdom. And as always, a portion of each ticket sold supports whale research on Maui. Thank you for helping make a difference.

Our guides, Sarah and Tiffany were so personable and knowledgeable which made it fun and informative. I was little nervous about the zodiac type boat at first, but it was fun and safe. There were only 18 people on our boat so asking questions was easy and everyone had a great view. We were lucky enough to see 2 breeches,... More

My wife and I went with another couple. Ben and Sergio were our guides. They were very entertaining and informative. The smaller boat meant we were able to get much closer than with other whale watching trips we had taken during past vacations. When the whales happened to swim right under our boat, Ben and Sergio even had some of... More

We went on two whale watches, one at the end of January and the second on Valentine's Day, 2017. On the first Tiffany was pilot and Tanya the naturalist; Tanya was pilot and Sergio the naturalist on the second. Everyone we have met during our annual trips to Maui is amazing! We have always been thrilled with our whale experiences... More

Ultimate Whale Watching tours have been our go to rafting company for many years. The 2 hour whale watch gives you plenty of time to find active whales and the crews are awesome! We booked 6 tours while in Maui. Today we went out with Ben and Sergio who were knowledgeable and fun. They found the active whales that interacted... More

Scheduled the outing online a couple of days in advance. When we got there the water was choppy and it was windy. We were given the option to reschedule which we did. And we are so thrilled we waited. Our captain was Rachel and Amy was first mate. We found a couple of whales that were showing some tail, but... More

We went on this whale adventure as it was a bucket list item for me. Given the photos I had seen from this company I was trying to be optimistic that we would get fairly close to some whales but that did not happen. The ocean was full of whales, during a peak time yet getting close and having that... More

We enjoyed whale watching in Alaska, but this was even better! The captain did a great job of narration, explaining the. Courting practices of the males. We saw a group of males courting a female, and it was quite a lively show.

Thank you to Ben & Amy for making our 2 hour whale watch so much fun. It was so exciting spotting a whale and literally chasing them to get a closer look. I would definitely recommend booking this tour.

Our pilot and guide on the Wiki Wahine (Amy and Hanna) were excellent at sharing the excitement with us on the tour. It was a rough day with some challenging swells, but they kept the adventure fun and entertaining. Most importantly they respected the distance between us and the whales, but somehow seemed to find some great up-close encounters for... More

We have taken approximately 15-20 trips with these people - usually twice per year - we rent the whole boat for us and our friends as a private tour. The staff and captains are great. We have never been disappointed and have several up close encounters where the whales came under our boat or breached just a short distance away.... More
