Ultimate Whale Watch specializes in photographic, non-threatening...

Ultimate Whale Watch specializes in photographic, non-threatening close-encounters with Dolphins, Whales & Turtles since 1982. We have hosted film crews from National Geographic to BBC Wildlife. Operating within the Hawaiian Island Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, we depart from historic Lahaina Town, Maui. From December through May, Humpback Whale encounters are guaranteed and the crystalline offshore waters frequently provide a passing subsurface eye-to-eye view. Many people are truly touched by their experience amongst these intelligent giants.

Tour sizes are for small group whale encounters, 18 or less on a 24 passenger raft style rescue boat. Great maneuverability and speed get you to some of the closest whale action possible, in the world! To ensure current and competent information, the crew is involved with whale research and highly passionate about the whales.

We invite you to come and see for yourself, one of the last remaining great migrations of the Animal Kingdom. And as always, a portion of each ticket sold supports whale research on Maui. Thank you for helping make a difference.

We went on this tour with a group of friends and were treated to an amazing experience ! To start, getting checked in and safely on the raft was easy and smooth. Once on board the captain made sure everyone was aware of safety regulations and outlined the day's trip. The raft (there were 21 on board) was comfortable, quick... More

We took our 9th and 10th whale watch with the Ultimate Whale Watch this trip. They're one of the main reasons we keep coming back to Maui. The crew is always great and the whales and scenery is not to be missed. Best part of our vacation. Prices are also reasonable.

We did the two hour standard version, had tried to do a VIP, but all booked up. No issue with seeing or viewing with the normal tour (save yourself the money). We had Amy and Ben as our crew. Ben did the deckhand and narration/ Q&A. Amy drove. A word or two about Amy... I have spent quite a bit... More

Ultimate Whale Watch is the only way to go! Crews are personable, gracious and careful of the whales, the naturalists have great information delivered in terrific style, and Lisa in the booking booth is a gem! Patient and so efficient! I would never go whale watching with anyone other than Ultimate. They take only 16 passengers on the small boats,... More

We joined Captains Scott and Rachel for a 3 hour photo op whale watch excursion. To say that we were totally amazed would be an understatement as we were mugged by 2 humpbacks for over an hour. The excursion left right on time, and was managed perfectly by the captains who did everything possible to make sure that each guest... More

This was our first whale watch and Becca and Amy were fantastic! We did a VIP whale watch with a maximum of 10 people in the boat and it was the best. Not even 10 minutes out of Lahaina Harbour and we had spotted a mother whale and her calf, and later on were joined by a male whale. We... More

I've been on other whale watching experiences before and this was by far and away THE BEST! First of all, I loved the smaller boat that allowed you to be "up close and personal" with the whales. Secondly, Ryan and Hannah were outstanding - not only in their information, but also understanding whale behavior so well that they could get... More

Ultimate Whale Watch was recommended to us by a professional wildlife photographer and we are very glad that we followed his advice. We pre-booked two trips, one 2 hour VIP and one 3 hour Photo trip. The VIP trip was the better of the two because we saw a lot more whales, but no one can predict how many you... More

Oh my !!! Wow the highlight of our trip was this whale watch and thanks to trip adviser I chose this company as it is a small boat and you feel so close to the whales. We were fortunate enough to get a whale mugging and thanks to being on a small boat we could almost put our hands in... More

We went out in a group of 18, which was a perfect amount of whale watchers. Our raft and crew were great. They even put a microphone in the water to hear the whale "songs". We saw a lot of 2-3 whales swimming together and "performing". It was amazing. Highly recommend!
