Ultimate Whale Watch specializes in photographic, non-threatening...

Ultimate Whale Watch specializes in photographic, non-threatening close-encounters with Dolphins, Whales & Turtles since 1982. We have hosted film crews from National Geographic to BBC Wildlife. Operating within the Hawaiian Island Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, we depart from historic Lahaina Town, Maui. From December through May, Humpback Whale encounters are guaranteed and the crystalline offshore waters frequently provide a passing subsurface eye-to-eye view. Many people are truly touched by their experience amongst these intelligent giants.

Tour sizes are for small group whale encounters, 18 or less on a 24 passenger raft style rescue boat. Great maneuverability and speed get you to some of the closest whale action possible, in the world! To ensure current and competent information, the crew is involved with whale research and highly passionate about the whales.

We invite you to come and see for yourself, one of the last remaining great migrations of the Animal Kingdom. And as always, a portion of each ticket sold supports whale research on Maui. Thank you for helping make a difference.

We decided to book the more "intimate" snorkeling experience through Ultimate Whale Watch with their smaller kodiak style boat, and it paid off! The conditions weren't the best, but because their boat is smaller and easier to maneuver, we were able to still get into some of the smaller locations that the larger boats couldn't. They were very accommodating and... More

Highly recommend this trip. It was an experience to remember. The escort whale came right underneath the raft 😉

We arrived in Maui with a large group of 14 having already booked Molokini through another outfit. After a very sub-par experience where we had hundreds of other snorkelers surrounding us we were a bit gun shy to book another snorkel trip, but after talking to Captain Ryan we knew we had to try Ultimate Snorkel. We chose the Lanai... More

Isn't it great to snorkel around in almost private waters? I've always loved smaller groups, and I'm glad you do, too. I hope we're able to see you again the next time you're in Hawaii! Aloha, Lee James, Owner More

We booked this tour before we arrived on Maui. It was toward the end of the whale watching season, but we got lucky and saw a mother and calf plus lots of spinner dolphins. Amy and Lindsay were terrific crew. The boat only held 18 people, so it was a small group and the boat rides low in the water,... More

We went in the last week of April and were worried we wouldn't get to see any whales. We were wrong! Our Captain Tiffany and her crew Lisa were amazing! So sweet and so much fun as well as knowledgable about Maui, Dolphins, whales, you name it! I would definitely recommend Ultimate over any other boat. They find the whales!... More

....thanks to the excellent Ultimate Whale Watch & our whale finders, Amy & Lisa, we had a great 2 hours spotting around 8-10 whales with one of them swimming just below the surface at the front of our boat. We had around 16 people on our tour in a small boat but looks can be deceptive. The boat was extremely... More

Went in March and saw lots of whales doing breaches tails and fin slapping. Absolutely stunning. Lots of calves with their mothers. Saw lots of turtles and spinner dolphins. Makes you wonder why anyone want to kill these wonderful animals.

Captain Amy and Lindsay were great- super knowledgeable and fun! Even though it was the end of the season, we saw whales (a mama and her calf) and a pod of Spinner dophins within 15 minutes of leaving the harbor. Being in a smaller boat with fewer people was a huge bonus- we all had great views. One of the... More

Got in on the official last day of the whale watching season and they didn't disappoint. Was able to capture 2 simultaneous whale tail pictures and video. Liz and Tif are great with their guest.
