We planned a half day snorkel outing, leaving out of Lahaina and cruising over to Lanai. On the cruise over, Captain Kiwi and his first mate were highly entertaining, as well as informative, providing a great deal of historical information on Maui and Lanai, as well as information on the local marine life, but doing so in a very entertaining way. We also lucked out and drove through 2 pods of dolphins, where a great many picture moments occurred, as well as learning a lot of information on the beautiful animals. Great moments and memories that will last a lifetime!

Upon anchoring by Lanai some snorkeling basics were covered, though we were already experienced snorkelers, still, you could tell our safety was important to them. They also provided helpful tips on the best way to cover the area. After snorkeling quite a while, we took a short break and enjoyed some of the food and beverages provided. A number of us were interested in seeing sea turtles so the next stop was at an area that was just full of them. I probably saw over a dozen different turtles, and even had to swim out of the way of one that came up behind me really close!

All together, an excellent and highly recommended experience!

Took a two hour whale watch trip, 745 am, $55 perperson, on a 42 person mid size boat, reduced to 15 capacity due to covid- made it great to move around for viewing angles. Good staff, cold sodas and water, numerous whale sightings on a great weather day on the 14th. Note that high winds cancelled a bunch of these on later days, and since capacity is limited, book WEEKS ahead before you arrive. Later days had trips cancelled, and no open spots for weeks to come.

Our two hours with Maui Adventure Cruises was magnificent. Kiwi at the controls and Johnny providing the expertise on whales was good. These guys locating a competition pod of 8-plus males chasing a female was more than we could have hoped for. We traveled alongside these surfaced whales for more than an hour. It truly was spectacular. The raft was comfortable, the crew the best. We would, and will, do it again on our next trip to Maui. Thanks guys. You made our trip to Maui a success!

Captain Kiwi & Allison entertained us with fun information on the islands and the wildlife. We saw a whale on our way to a variety of fish in our Lanai stop. Water was getting a little rough so second stop was back on Maui at Maluaka to swim with the sea turtles. We were accompanied part of the way by a huge pod of spinner dolphins. Quite a show!

The entire experience was incredible. The waters of Lanai were fabulous, visibility provided fish of all kinds to be seen close up. The crew was helpful and always outgoing to assure you were well cared for. Do over.

Mahalo for the 5 Star review. Glad you enjoyed our Explorer Super Raft and its excursion to Lanai for 2 snorkel sites. Lanai's reef is a lot better than Molokini's overcrowded crater. Our crew enjoys meetingnew friends. See you soon!!! Don Kidder, General Manager

Besides being blessed with calm seas in the channel (perfect weather and clarity), Captain Keeri and First Mate Shannon provided perfect service. I mean, so friendly, and informative and encouraging to those who are newer to snorkeling. Three spots (conditions permitted), a bajillion fish in crystal waters, a few baby (non threatening) sharks, a gorgeous pod of dolphin that played in our wake, and turtles galore. Food was the best I’ve experienced on a cruise like this, packed in individual kits with an ice block at the bottom and no holding back on (soft) beverages. Couldn’t have been better. Totally in keeping with Maui spirit. Very well organized.

This trip was a blast! Captain Jay and Alison were so knowledgeable and made the trip such an enjoyment for our group. They were experts at seeking out the best spots for wildlife spotting, and super fun and personable to top it off. We ended up seeing whales, dolphins, and turtles! Very professional and well organized.

We took the Lanai Landing Adventure with Maui Adventure Cruises because we won a buy-one-get-one from the concierge at our condo resort. We wished we'd stuck with Trilogy, which we used for a snorkel tour last year. We picked the Landing Adventure because it was supposed to be an upgrade from the Lanai Dolphin Adventure. The brochure says you get 3+ hours to explore Lanai, with snorkeling in Hulopo'e Bay. But it turns out they drop you at Lanai and leave to go get the Dolphin Adventure tour, take them snorkeling, then come back to get us 4 1/2 hours later! They said we could spend some time in the Four Seasons Hotel, but it was closed for renovation. Plus we couldn't snorkel in the bay because the surf was too high and they advised against it, but we still had to haul our snorkel gear with us all around the island. We felt totally abandoned as they didn't even leave a person with us to help with anything. Our son ended up with a 2nd degree sunburn on his feet because there was really no shelter and nothing to do but sit on the beach for 4 1/2 hours. When they picked us up, they took us to a tiny cove farther around the island that was so choppy and deep that you couldn't see hardly anything. I know the high south swell wasn't within their control, but the way they treated us and how they abandoned us without saying that's what they would do was. At the end of the trip, they had the gall to say, "If you liked this tour, tell all your friends and give us a review on Trip Advisor. If you didn't like it, don't tell anyone." If you want to snorkel in Maui, do yourself a favor and go with Trilogy instead.

For anyone planning to do the Lanai landing adventure, save your money and take the ferry.

We did the "landing adventure" yesterday and it was a great disappointment. It was nothing more than a glorified ferry service that did nothing more than take us over to the island of Lanai, drop us off, and then come back nearly 4 hours later only to take us about 100 yards out of the harbor and let us snorkel for about 30 minutes before returning to Lahaina.

The brochure leads you to believe that the boat is going to seek out pods of dolphins, however the boat made no effort to do any such thing. It was essentially a direct line ferry to and from Lanai. After dropping us off on the island, the boat made a beeline back to Lahaina to pick up another load of passengers and after shuttling them to the island, the boat took us on a very brief snorkeling encounter right outside of the harbor.

If we had known that this is what the trip was going to consist of, we would have taken the ferry for $60 round-trip to the island of Lanai and done all of the same things that we were able to do with this trip which cost over $150 per person.

I cannot overstate how overpriced and disappointing this trip was. I am rating this trip with one star only because there's no option to give it half a star.

My family and I have been to Maui on two different occasions, and have been on 9 different excursions. This was by far the worst. I read so many great reviews and that it sold out early that I had great expectations for this excursion. This excursion ended up being just a very long boat ride, and with the weather conditions at the time, a rocky one to boot! The snorkeling was awful. We saw way more at Black Rock right off the shore at our hotel! I did not care for the tour guides. Jill the captain, tried to convince people that no one needed life jackets and noodles would be just fine for any non swimmers who wanted to snorkel. Shouldn't the tour guides provide reassurance and offer every floatation device needed to make a passenger feel comfortable in the water? Apparently they only had 2 on the whole boat! Then you get dropped off with a lunch pail that has been sitting out for hours in the hot sun to a remote island. Someone in our party was gluten intolerant and had a "special pail" and what he got was lettuce with warm ranch dressing that sat out for hours and a cookie! Huh? He can't have flour folks! The poor guy was starving the entire day with no where to go on this remote island for food or drinks. The tour book said we could go to Menalee Bay for cocktails, but our tour guide Jill said we weren't allowed, so we didn't even try. We were thirsty, hungry and bored! Felt like we wasted a vacation day! Recommend skipping this one.

Dear Jacqueline P, As I expressed to your friends in their previous review, this was not the trip for your group. I am unsure what your expectations were, but we have been running our same excursion for over 15 years. On Friday, June 13, the Hawaiian Islands were experiencing a south swell –great news for surfers, not so great for poor swimmers or snorkelers on any southern shore (which would include Black Rock, Maui and Hulopoe Bay, Lanai). With the hand Mother Nature dealt us, south swell but light trade winds, I opted to take the charter to the East side of Lanai to explore a spot on the longest continuous coral reef in the state, where we often even get to see green sea turtles. I am sorry you did not appreciate this very pristine coral garden reef. While trying not to repeat myself, I will reiterate that our vessels meet or exceed all USCG requirements and we do indeed have more than enough lifejackets on board. To you and your party, it was just a “noodle”, to me; it is the most brilliant floatation device I’ve come across in the past 25+ years. Our company does not deal with the masses, but rather only a small group of guests that we can assist/guide on a more personal level with proper attention given to swim level, usage of snorkeling equipment, floatation, ect… If passengers opt not to listen to our professional advise and insist on a snorkel vest, we do have them available, and suggest they do not inflate it fully, and take a noodle. This trip does include a “picnic style” lunch for the beach part of your excursion. Our Hawaiian style coolers come with an ice pack to keep the lunch cool and are delivered 30-45 minutes before departure. Our “Gluten Free” option is a salad with turkey, fruit, and GF crackers. I am sorry your friend got a cookie included – make someone’s day, and give it away! The Manele Bay Hotel is “an exclusive 5 diamond” resort on a private island. Hotel staff controls access to the hotel. We are not affiliated with the hotel, and thus cannot guarantee access to their property. Sometimes they allow non-hotel guests to frequent their bars, restaurants, and Sundry shop (i.e. My statement of “flash your gold card” as they do not want non-hotel guests just touring their property). Sometimes they have private events and give no access to non-hotel guests, regardless of their intent. If your intent was to get to Lanai to check out The Manele Bay Hotel, I would highly recommend on your next visit, you check-in. It is truly a luxury hotel with a lot of amenities. The focus of our excursion is more on the natural wonders of Hulopoe Bay, providing guests an opportunity to get away to another island and spend time on a beautiful un-crowded beach relaxing, or hiking, or exploring tide pools (weather permitting), or snorkeling (weather permitting) unescorted; And also an escorted boat tour including a snorkel from the boat, and hopefully dolphins. Once again, I am sorry your group did not like our excursion. Aloha, Capt. Jill
