    Where were the fire dancers?
This operation is a well-oiled machine. Nice grounds, nice stage, great staff and ok food. The show was great BUT no fire dancers. Every Luau we’ve ever been to had the fire dancers as the highlight of the show. This was just ok.

    Heavenly and Exotic LUAU!!!
Excellent service, food, and all-around experience. Seating arrangements were spaced well and not crowded. Drinks in my opinion were great, as in most places it probably depends on what you were drinking. Kona, our server was an excellent host, very witty, charming and seemingly really enjoyed being a pleasant person. (Not always a match in the service industry) The food was very good in my opinion and just as good or better than another very well known and highly touted restaurant in the area. Was it expensive? Yes, but think about it, unlimited drinks and food, plus entertainment and in Hawaii? I think it was worth it!!! The ambience was great, very lovely setting, clean, an all-around excellent night out on the town. Again, it all depends on one's expectations and previous experiences. ALOHA!!!

Good experience for first timers, but a little boring
We felt like a luau was a necessary part of our Hawaii experience to learn about some of the culture and taste the traditional food. It was definitely more expensive than it was worth, but I'm glad we went. Before the show starts, you can walk around a take photos near the water, buy trinkets (woodcarvings, jewelry) from people, look at traditional instruments, and listen to a lecture about how the cook the pig underground. For dinner and the show, we sat at a table with chairs (vs cushions on the floor) and were very glad we had chairs given the length of the show. Dinner was served family style (apparently used to be a buffet pre-Covid) and we all left feeling very full. There were a list of drinks to choose from and also an open bar. Drinks were very watered down and honestly not that great. Our server was very nice and attentive, but reminded us several times that gratuity was not included in the bill. The show was fine, but, as others have mentioned, did not include any fire dancers (they explain why not -- it's not a traditional Hawaiian thing), so was honestly a little boring. I'm not sure how many variations of Hula dancing I needed to see, It was educational as far as the history of Hawaii, but probably less entertaining for younger kids. Overall, it was educational and I would recommend a luau for first timers who are interested in learning and experiencing the Hawaiian culture. I'd probably look for one with fire dancers next time though!

    Very Popular for Good Reason
This luau is not like any other dining experience. Five courses include house wines and cocktails. The main courses have four or five types of meat and fish. In addition to dessert, diners are sent home with banana bread made in house. But these things are not what makes the luau distinctive. The evening starts with the uncovering of a roast pig that had been cooking for the better part of a day. Of course there was hula dancing throughout the meal. It was accompanied by narrative that explained not only what the dance movements signified but also how they reflected the native Hawaiian culture. We left the luau with a greater appreciation for this unique part of the united States.

    Old Lahaina Luau AMAZING!
This Luau was a great experience. It was so easy to book online and then we arrived there were staff members telling us exactly where to go. We had excellent service all the way around. Seating arrangements were great as anyone could the stage easily from the circular dining area. There were five dinner courses. Tons of delicious food that we couldn't possibly eat, so come on an empty stomach. Drinks were great and STRONG! Our waiter was on the ball, checking on us, bringing us food and drinks immediately. The waiters were definitely trained to provide excellent customer service. The show was fantastic! It was about the history of Hawaii with phenomenal hula dancers. It was a great experience that everyone should enjoy at least once. I highly recommend Old Lahaina Luau.

    Must do Luau on Maui
Our family had a wonderful time at the Old Lahaina Luau. Great seats, way more food than any of us could finish, great drinks (we all liked the Lava Flow) and an excellent show! We also really liked the ceremony before dinner where they removed the pig from the pit. If you're looking for a great time and to learn more about Hawaiian history this is the Luau for you.

    Maui Staple!
This Luau was very professional and classy, and was still a lot of fun! The servers were very attentive and helpful, and the food was phenomenal. We left super full and very happy! The dances themselves were beautiful and the presenters took the time to educate us on each one. This should be a staple for your visit to Maui!

    Still Fantastic 21 Years Later!
The last time we attended the Old Lahaina Luau was 21 Years ago on my 40th birthday. This time we returned to celebrate my husband’s birthday. To our surprise our server from our original visit was still working. He is now head bartender and is as handsome as ever. His long tenure at Old Lahaina Luau is a wonderful example of what a great place this is. The servers, dancers, and musicians are truly one big family. They are kind, hard working, and talented. It truly feels like you’ve been invited to a Hawaiian Family Dinner, with the most beautiful oceanside backdrop. Once again, the food was delicious, the entertainment was mesmerizing, and the service was top notch. Thank you Old Lahaina Luau for another wonderful experience. ❤️

    Beautiful Scenery with Good Food
Beautiful show, views, and grounds. The staff were very friendly. The food was amazing but very rushed! I felt like we barely got a couple of bites of a course, and they were coming to take it away for another course. I would have preferred to eat slower and had it last throughout the evening. I am not sure why everything had to be completed before the show started. I was barely able to go to the restroom before the show started. Other guests in the restroom were also commenting on how rushed it was. It would also be nice to have drinks served during the show. It was an open bar but only had two drinks and service was over. Upon arrival, many guests had drinks but could not figure out how to get one myself. It would be nice to have a bar to go get a drink from. I also did not realize there was no fire at this show. We were hoping to see a fire performance. Keep in mind that gratuity is included. It was my fault that I forgot until the next day that gratuity was included. I heard other guests around me questioning gratuity as well and handed a pretty large tip to our server.

Amazing scenery, amazing views directly from the beach! Although, I have been to 2 other Luau’s the old luau was ok and please let me explain why in comparison to the other 2 Luau’s on the big Island. The main difference between the other Luau’s are that the other 2 Luau’s included the guest into their performances, making it fun, exciting and enjoyable to watch even if your not a part of the performances. They all have great food, unlimited drinking and well trained great staff to help. However, after going to other Luau’s before this one I was very disappointed with what we were given for the same amount of monies. The crowd was engaged by the staff for 3-4 minutes literally at the very end of the show. At the previous other 2 Luau’s we were engaged throughout the performances all night which left you wanting more. At the Old Luau, I was anxiously awaiting for it to end!

We were visiting the area for one week trying to escape the cold weather. We had reservations for the show and, unfortunately, the weather was very rainy all day. In fact, there was a flood warning issued by the National Weather Service.

We received a text from the company at around noon on the date of the show explaining that they were watching the weather and they would get back to us with an update. They also asked us to call at 3:00pm if we hadn't heard from them. No further info so we called at 3:00pm and the customer service rep seemed irritated that we had called to inquire as to the status of the show. Explained that we were told to call. She stated that the show was still scheduled to take place. At 4:00pm it was raining buckets so I called again and it seemed that the customer service rep was reading from a script....again she had an attitude and stated that the show was still on. We drove 45 minutes to the venue and, as we were driving in the parking lot, we received another text stating that the show had been cancelled. MANY cars in the parking lot. Traffic jam getting back to Maui - it took over an hour to get back.

They did refund our money promptly. They need to have a better process to identify cancellations and communicate with their customers. At the minimum....act like you care.

I was lucky to get last minute seats for 2 on New Year’s Eve recently. After being told by many locals that it was unlikely to book anything the day of on NYE and being that it was also my birthday, my friend and I decided it was worth trying and went to old Lahaina Luau to ask if there was any last minute seats we could purchase and lucky for us there were 2 available right on the floor in front of the dancers. The floor seats are the more traditional style to partake in a luau and I found it way more enjoyable as they are closer to the performance. The view being right on the water and the grounds and gardens of the place made for a breathtaking view and sunset. The dancers and performers are amazingly talented and the show really informed you about the culture and history of the island which I really loved. The service and food was super great and they had a lot of vegetarian options as well. Really happy we got to Celebrate my birthday and the end of the year at such a wonderful spot.

This was a beautiful evening. They handle the crowds really well so that you never feel like you are being herded through things. We were greeted with a lovely lei that lasted for days and a cold Mai Tai and then enjoyed the grounds at sunset, which was perfect for some photos. The table was beautiful and everyone had a good view. The food was nice, lots of authentic Hawaiian options to try and the show was good. Our server was wonderful and accommodating, bringing anything we wanted, and joking with the kids. Some were disappointed that there wasn't any fire in the show. We had a really enjoyable evening for sure!

As soon as you walk in they hand you a Mai Tai. That alone is worthy of 5 stars. The setting is beautiful highlighted by a Lahaina sunset backdrop. The service is top notch and the food was quite awesome considering the number of people they feed. Unlimited poke? Scoop, scoop, scoop... Can't get enough. They didn't cheap out on the drinks either. Before the show starts you can check out some native Hawaiian crafts, watch some musicals demos or get a picture taken. The photographers might be the only negative here as they just splash u with a forward flash without diffusers or umbrellas. The pig is unveiled as one of the staff explain the story behind it. The dance/musical performances were equal on the history, storytelling and quite enjoyable. Finally the night is included with a slow dance with a loved one. My 6 year old loved the whole thing!

We had to attend a luau while in Hawaii, so we selected this one based on the positive reviews, and we were very pleased with the overall cultural experience and beauty in the ritual/dance. We went with our children ages 9-14, and they all enjoyed the evening, but our youngest struggled to make it to the end after a long day exploring the island! We greatly enjoyed the pre-show leis, drinks, and interactive displays of roasting the pig, tools, lei-making, and all right on the beach with a beautiful sunset. The food itself was only just decent, which we expected, as buffet food, and is my reason for 4 stars. If you are going for the experience, the dinner show is spectacular and mesmerizing! All of us enjoyed the unique experience.

This was a great first luau experience! When you arrive you are greeted with a lei and a complementary drink. The seating is staggered so you can easily see the show from anywhere. I recommend showing up right on time to take advantage of the demonstrations and vendors beforehand. There is a server who brings you drinks, a small appetizer and coordinates when you go up to the buffet. The food was fantastic! My only regret was that I wasn’t able to eat more! After dinner is the show and it was very entertaining and interesting. I’m glad that we chose this luau for our visit!!

I read the other reviews here and it's like I went to an entirely different experience. Let me start by saying the good things, and there were some very nice things to talk about.

First, the staff was excellent. From start to finish, the hosts, the waiters, the bus boys, and bartenders were all excellent. Very attentive, very professional, awesome the whole way.

Second, the atmosphere is beautiful. Guests have beach access. The stage is centrally located an easily in view of all guests. The event was very well organized.

But the good ends there. Let's just call it what it is, you spend $125ish and it's all you can eat, all you can drink, and a show. How good can any of it be at those prices? There's no margin to make money. And as a result, the food is low quality, the drinks are weak, and the show is second or third rate entertainment. And it is what it is, there's ample quantity and marginal quality. And as a result, it's gimmicky and cheesy. Regarding the food, the pork was actually quite tasty, but the rest was gross. The crab salad - there's no way I believe actually had any crab. The chicken was lacking flavor. The steaks were a tough cut, and cooked well done. The vegetables lacked freshness. I cringe thinking about it.

I wanted a longer show that started earlier, that actually features the roasting of the pig, that has better quality performers, better quality food, and maybe a cash bar instead of the open bar, because clearly it's hard to do this well and that way they wouldn't have to skimp on quality.

Skip the show, go enjoy a nice dinner at one of the great maui restaurants. Also, for what it's worth, there's a pretty good consensus that this is one of the better luaus on maui. So, if you really want a luau, I suppose you're better off here than at most others. And likewise, I suppose I wouldn't like most of the other luaus either.

My family of 4 attended the show tonight. 90% of the patrons probably thought the show was great. Unfortunately, the other 10% were seated at tables BEHIND the stage, including us. At $150 pp, I guess they’re trying to make up for the past year by selling seats that only view the entertainers backs. My advise - don’t book unless you speak directly to them and they guarantee a table you can view in advance. In the meantime, watch the reviews as I’m sure low ratings will be picking up!

Not our first Luau, but our favorite. Was worried with the new format and not getting enough food compared to a buffet, but was so wrong. Five course meal was amazing, and even our picky kids tried some new foods. Plenty of drink options, and great service. Appreciated a few smaller demos or dances as we had our food before the main show. The show is about Hawaii and hula—NOT Polynesian fire dancing, so you know what kind of show you’re getting. We lucked out with traditional seating in the front row. Bring sunglasses—the first half hour was REALLY bright until sun dipped below trees. Great setting, great pictures.
