The great news is that the Old Lahaina Luau reopened the month before we arrived in April. It is pricey (all in about $230 per person), but it was so worth it. Yes, you get unlimited drinks and food, but the value is in the experience and the people there that make you feel so incredibly welcomed and well taken care of. Our waiter Kaipo and his assistant, Isiah were fantastic. They catered to our every need before, during and after dinner. The show itself was fascinating and extremely well done. The people of Maui are proud of their heritage and they do such a beautiful job of presenting it to you.

The luau and dinner experience was excellent. We were at the seated dinner tables and had a great view of the show area. The layout is very good so there is not a bad seat in the house. The view of the ocean was beautiful and there was time before the luau to roam the grounds and enjoy the evening. The food was served in four courses and the servers explained each dish and its significance to the Hawaiian culture. The soft drinks and cocktails were included and the staff did a great job. The show was very entertaining and provided information on Hawaiian history and some of the Hawaiian rituals and dances. Would highly recommend this luau for a wonderful evening out.

This was my first trip to Hawaii, and I knew I HAD to go to a luau! Upon lots of research and recommendations from friends, I chose Old Lahaina. I was so disappointed when I received notice the week prior to my trip that the Friday night show I was scheduled for had been cancelled. Luckily, the stars aligned with my friend's work schedule and we were able to book for another evening. I am a foodie and love trying new things. But, to be honest, the food was average, at best. Not one bite did I truly love. HOWEVER, the entertainment, from the time we walked in to the time we left, was fabulous!! I so enjoyed every aspect of this evening. Our server was wonderful and attentive and the view and scenery... sunset on the water... couldn't be beat. Yes, the price tag is pretty hefty for one "meal" during one evening. Would I do it all over again? You bet I would!

If you’re looking for an unforgettable evening of Hawaiian culture, delicious food, and mesmerizing entertainment, this luau is a must-experience! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an ambiance that set the stage for an incredible night. The dance performance was absolutely breathtaking. Each routine told a story, blending tradition, grace, and energy in a way that left the audience in awe. The performers’ passion and skill were evident, and the live music accompaniment was the perfect touch to enhance the magic of the evening. Whether it was the intricate hula or the thrilling fire knife dance, every moment was captivating. Now, onto the food—equally as memorable as the show. The buffet offered a wide variety of traditional Hawaiian dishes, each bursting with authentic flavors. Staples like coconut, banana, taro, chicken, fish, and pork were prepared with incredible care, showcasing the island’s rich culinary heritage. And for vegetarians or those with dietary restrictions, the luau went above and beyond. By simply notifying them in advance during booking, they ensured every guest was accommodated without compromising on quality or flavor. The vegetarian menu was as thoughtfully crafted as the main offerings, with delicious options that impressed even the non-vegetarians in our group. The balance of cultural immersion and culinary excellence made this luau an extraordinary experience. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this event is a beautiful way to celebrate Hawaiian traditions while enjoying some of the best food and entertainment you’ll find. Highly recommend!

Old Lahaina Luau was a very special experience for us and we enjoyed the entire evening. We attended on our 35th anniversary and I wore my grandma’s Hawaiian dress. She had purchased it over 50 years ago while vacationing in Hawaii with my grandpa. When we approached the registration stand, I was asked about the dress and got to share its story. We chose to be seated at a regular table vs. on the ground. Our server provided excellent service and explained each serving of food. We hadn’t realized we would get everything on the menu - Wow! And even though we were placed with another group of people, my husband and I received our own servings that were not passed around the table. We greatly appreciated this. The Luau was a magical experience. So much talent! We are really glad we chose Old Lahaina Luau. When we were walking to the car after the performance, we both stated we now truly felt we were in Hawaii.

Had the chance to hit up the Old Lahaina Luau on December 4th, and let me tell you, it was a blast! If you're thinking about going, definitely do it – just make sure to show up early. I wish I had, because the cultural stations are so cool and perfect for snapping some unforgettable photos. You've gotta check out the opening ceremony of the IMU – super interesting to see how some of the delicious food is cooked. Speaking of food, loved that it wasn't a buffet! Everything was served family-style right at our table, which felt classy and personal. Plus, having drinks delivered straight to us? Yes, please! The staff rocked, too. They were so helpful with all my questions about the food and the different luau performances. The food was incredible, and trust me, you will leave with a full belly! The setting is absolutely stunning, overlooking the ocean. And the turf grass was a nice touch – way better than crushed stone at other luaus. It didn’t feel overcrowded at all, which made the whole experience super chill. If you're in Maui, the Old Lahaina Luau is a fantastic choice. You’re in for a treat!

We attended the Old Lahaina Luau tonite and I am speechless. My husband and I have been to two luaus in the past and so I really wasn’t keen to go again, especially since it is costly. But this was my sister’s 1st time to Hawaii & she really wanted to go so…. I can’t say enough about how professional EVERYTHING is done. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like honored guests & made to feel very special. We were given fresh orchid leis, all of the beverages (including alcoholic) are included. The food is plentiful & delicious, the performers amazing & the setting is like something out of South Pacific. We really got a glimpse into the world of native Hawaiians. They spoke about the devastating fires last year & we felt such a sense of connection with them. I can’t recommend this luau enough. Part of the proceeds go to help the Lahaina community. I actually feel humbled & honored to have celebrated the Hawaiian culture with these amazing souls. Maui Strong!!

This was truly amazing, the best luau I have ever been to. This is the first place in Lahaina to open back up, it was powerful being there. Every second was well planned and flowed well. The staff was amazing and taught us so much about their culture. They were so open in sharing with us the tragedy that struck here and how they were personally impacted. During the performance, they had a powerful moment honoring what has been lost. Our host for the evening Randolph was phenomenal. Highly recommend to support a local authentic business and learn all about the history of this culture.

I tend to agree with the review of someone in October. The entertainment was spectacular, but the food was definitely a disappointment. When we went years ago, the meal was a buffet with kalua pork, teriyaki chicken, Mac salad, etc. This food was very dry & the Mahi smelled like it had been frozen.

Grandly picturesque setting with sunset across the harbor. Beautifully landscaped arena with original style grass roofed buildings. Warm greeting with a delicious drink. Spencer was a friendly, attentive, efficient server, as well as a talented drummer in the performance. Delectable food! Great descriptions of dishes we had never tasted nor even heard of. The roast pork and poke were especially tasty, but so was everything else. The performance was breathtaking, with beautiful clothing, dances, and a great presentation of Hawaii history. Best of all were the singers! Altogether, it was an evening our family will always fondly remember.

God help you if you ever need your money back. We made a reservation for four in September and due to the fires, reservations were obviously cancelled. It has been OVER a month and I still do not have a refund. I opened a dispute with my credit card company that they have STILL not responded to. I'd be shocked if anyone got a refund. It was just under $1,000 for a reservation for 4 and these people just keep the money. They sent multiple emails saying they were refunding all reservations through December 15. FALSE.

We felt like a luau was a necessary part of our Hawaii experience to learn about some of the culture and taste the traditional food. It was definitely more expensive than it was worth, but I'm glad we went.

Before the show starts, you can walk around a take photos near the water, buy trinkets (woodcarvings, jewelry) from people, look at traditional instruments, and listen to a lecture about how the cook the pig underground.

For dinner and the show, we sat at a table with chairs (vs cushions on the floor) and were very glad we had chairs given the length of the show. Dinner was served family style (apparently used to be a buffet pre-Covid) and we all left feeling very full. There were a list of drinks to choose from and also an open bar. Drinks were very watered down and honestly not that great.

Our server was very nice and attentive, but reminded us several times that gratuity was not included in the bill.

The show was fine, but, as others have mentioned, did not include any fire dancers (they explain why not -- it's not a traditional Hawaiian thing), so was honestly a little boring. I'm not sure how many variations of Hula dancing I needed to see, It was educational as far as the history of Hawaii, but probably less entertaining for younger kids.

Overall, it was educational and I would recommend a luau for first timers who are interested in learning and experiencing the Hawaiian culture. I'd probably look for one with fire dancers next time though!

My family (2 adults and 3 teenage/early 20s age children) attended the Old Lahaina Luau last week. I had a hard time deciding between a 3 or 4 star rating for this review because of my mixed feelings overall. It is in a beautiful setting with the sunset and ocean as a backdrop—we captured some great family photos. We opted for the traditional seating and had excellent seats rights in front of the stage (note: you are sitting on pillows on ground so no back support if that’s an issue), . There were some brief bits of entertainment, hula dancing, Hawaiian history. etc as we dined. I enjoyed that. The drinks were fine, but not sure they had any alcohol in them and the food was plentiful and each course was explained well. Unfortunately, 3 out of 5 of our party had very upset stomach the entire next day—ughh! The main course was my least favorite—tough meat, fish tasted “off” and chicken was extremely fatty. It started to lightly rain right before the dessert course. The staff quickly passed out disposable rain ponchos and it was fine. However, about 5-10 minutes into the actual hour long show, the rain became heavier, they stopped the show and sent us all home! I realize that the weather is out of their control and was at least appreciative of the 50% refund they gave us. I was very disappointed that we didn’t get to see the full show because the few minutes we did see were fantastic! The rain literally stopped by the time we walked to our car, bummer! So overall my ratings: Setting: 5/5. Food and drinks: 3/5 (that’s maybe too generous), Entertainment: 4/5 (of what I saw, but so disappointed didn’t get to see entire show—it was something we all had been looking forward to). Book way in advance if you plan to go (we were on waitlist and they contacted us a couple months prior that they had an opening).

The set up and atmosphere is awesome and we appreciated that it is NOT part of a hotel. It's a stand alone venue where every seat has a nice view of the stage.
It's pricey and the drinks are really expensive while the food is good. The story is great, the hula dancers are unbelievable, and the live music adds to the charm. I highly recommend this Luau and you won't be disappointed.....just bring some extra $$$ if you plan on having a few adult beverages.

We had high hopes for our Luau, but what a disappointment! The performers were great but there were no dancers twirling fire or a pig roast, which is what I envision when I think of a Luau. The initial drinks (Mai Thai) were strong, but that was just the teaser, the rest of the drinks were merely watered down and were a waste of time.

The food was average and not even warm, but when I looked around they were serving a lot of people. Our server was attentive and always checked on us. The whole time I felt like I was being buttered up for something but couldn't figure out what, until the event was over and we were told we had a special gift and to stick around. So here comes the server and she presents me with a receipt for almost $1,000.00, and reminds me it's paid, but it doesn't include the gratuity....based on the $200 or so per person, which adds up when you have 5 people in your group. Our amount was an unexpected minimum of $136.00. We had to scramble to collect that amount. You know what the gift was....a tiny portion of Banana Nut Bread. That was the most expensive Banana Nut Bread I've ever purchased.

My advice is to avoid this tourist trap or leave before they bring the receipt.

Food was mediocre, service was good, dancing was impressive, but I felt like I had been duped in the end.

Well...we felt like since we were in Hawaii we needed to do a luau. So, I'm glad we did, but overall the experience wasn't as great as I thought it would be (especially for the price) and we definitely wouldn't do it again. The setting was lovely, all outdoors right on the ocean. The show was great. The service was good, our waiter was attentive. We were all underwhelmed with the food and I had an upset tummy overnight after eating here. After 10 nights on Maui, we all agreed this was our least favorite meal, by far. If you're looking for something to splurge on, because this is pricey, I would recommend you find something else and take a pass on this.

This luau was fantastic - the best meal we had on our trip! The entertainment takes the viewer through the history and culture of the Hawaiian people, which was done very well. The food is authentic and delicious! Our servers, Nick and Mikaela were outstanding. The view is perfect from any table - a nice sunset accompanies dinner service, then the show begins after dessert. Beautiful orchid leis were presented as we walked in. All outdoors. The photographer there gave us one of our best photos, our family by the water. It's worth skipping lunch that day to have room for all the food they provide over 7 courses.

Beautiful luau with history, culture, warmth! Set on an oceanfront garden, survived the fire. Has been here for years. We went over 20 years ago. We Got there early. Learned about poi, hula, Hawaiian games, crafts, saw the pig dug out of the fire. Free flowing drinks throughout the evening. Had a small traditonal Hawaiian meal, and then a larger meal with beef, chicken, fish. Staff works incredibly hard to create a full, satisfying evening. Top quality experience. The dancing unfolded the story of how hula came to hawaii, and then changed with the missionaries, and merry king david, and finally by the influences of hollywood. Ended with a bang-up performance by individual dancers, who go to an international competition in tahiti each summer. Great evening.

One of the best dinners shows in Lahaina, full of culture and island history.
Upon our arrival, we all received prior to seating a traditional lai from a very beautiful island maiden.
The evening gave us a brief look at ancient island life and traditional dancing, along with a taste of Polynesian food served by very large semi-nude tattooed gentlemen, who were very attentive and funny.
The sunset was beautiful and framed perfectly by the trees, torches, and entertainment area.
Overhaul this is a little expensive but well worth the price, wear comfortable shoes no high heels as they will get stuck in the grass. For those of you who are used to being in bed by nine, this is the perfect show not to break that habit.

TIP: If you choose the Hawaiian mat seating option, it can be a bit hard on older people's legs.

The setting on the water is so beautiful. We loved our time at the luau from start to finish. They were absolutely organized and the staff was very friendly. We wanted an authentic luau and were not disappointed! Entertaining storytelling of the history of Hawaii with music. The food never stopped arriving at the table as it’s a 4 course dinner. The drinks were never an issue as our server was super attentive. I would highly recommend this for an authentic experience.
