We went with a group of friends. We saw whales, but not up close. There were quite a few, but they did not come close to the catamaran we were on. Some of us got queasy as the water was rough. I must say that getting on and off the catamaran was quite challenging , and I am sure some people, especially older folks might have a real problem with it. You get on the catamaran while it is in the water, so you get wet, and you have to go up some steps. Getting off was harder with the waves hitting us as we tried to navigate the steps, holding our belongings. We got soaked doing it and it was hard trying to time it so you did not get hit by a wave while moving quickly with the other people behind you down the steps which you can't see with the waves coming. You are now pretty much in the water mid-thigh and have to try to get to the shore. You don't have to swim, but you have to walk in the surf. I strongly suggest waterproof footwear that you can rinse off at the shower station. We also did not like that we had to go downstairs while we were still out in the water before getting off the vessel. We could not figure out why we had to do that, especially feeling queasy. We also had a long walk to the beach where the catamaran was, and back to our vehicles or their bus. So if you are considering doing this get all the information beforehand to be sure you or anyone in your group is physically able to undertake everything I described. I would have preferred a regular boat that you get on at a dock. The staff was nice, and there were snacks and drinks that we did not partake of. Once was enough on a catamaran. I am rating it very good because of the staff.

The experience was exceptional with the crew during the entire cruise. They are very friendly courteous and eager to talk with all the people on board. They made you feel very welcome on board and helped with getting drinks and food as we stared at the sunset in the whales during the cruise. I would definitely recommend Kai Kanani to all my friends and family. You won’t be disappointed by the cruise and crew.

Sunrise trip that included all the highlights. Snorkeled at first sunlight & saw a wide variety of beautiful fish. On our way to our second stop we saw whales breaching. Sara sighted many turtles at our second stop. Koi rounded the trip out by dropping a microphone on the water & sharing the sounds of surrounding whales. Great crew with knowledge & guidance. Delish breakfast on a clean & well appointed boat. Kai K was highly recommended by friends to us...so psyched we went!

Last night we had a spectacular whale watching and sunset cruise. The mama and baby whale stayed around our boat for a long time, breaching and spouting over and over. The staff, who all enjoy their jobs immensely, made sure we were all comfortable and safe. They supplied great food and kept our glasses full. Everyone on the cruise was friendly and happy. It was exciting to race out between waves to climb the ladder onto the deck. Gary sang and played an amazing variety of songs to add to the entertainment. I would highly recommend this company and this cruise. Can’t wait to come back and do it again.

My husband and I loved the early sunrise snorkelling tour! It was amazing to load the boat in the dark with the moon and stars and then head out as the sun was coming up! We saw whales as we made our way to Molokini plus all the sea life while snorkelling. The crew was wonderful, we learned a lot and also greatly enjoyed the option of renting the Go Pro ($55). For access to snorkelling Molokini with a small group and staying ahead of the big crowds this was definitely worth it to us. Plus with the smaller sunrise group we got to snorkel much longer at both spots (about 45 mins each). Would definitely recommend if you have the budget!

Aloha ChristlB5, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It's very much appreciated! The epic beauty and solitude of the Sunrise Deluxe Snorkel tour is hard to describe, but you did a great job. We hope to see you again the next time you visit Maui!
