Overall, this is a great beach. It provides close access to a shower, bathrooms, and a large grass area with very shaded picnic tables/benches perfectly for families. The beach is quite shallow and doesn't boast too many rocks unless of course, you venture towards the ones on the far left side. On a windier day, the waves might pick up which make them perfect for boogie boarding, but normally the water is quite calm. The only thing I have to say about this beach is to watch out for jellyfish, I saw two people get stung at the same hour when I was there. I'm not sure if this was just a coincidence, but just be aware before you get in the water.
Sunsets are beautiful at night, watch from grassy area of right on beach!

Great beach for anyone, especially with children. Get there early, as the winds start to pick up by 11:00am and the blowing sand gets going. Free parking next to the ABC Store/Gas Station. Please be kind and pick up after yourselves, too. Mahalo!

This is one of many beahes to visit in Maui, I personally find it nicer than in parks 2 and 3, but that also comes with a lot more people as this beach is way more crowded that the other two.. so if you are looking for a little more privacy this isnt it. located near restaurants and bars,

Kamaloe Beach Park I was close to our condo, and so took the opportunity for a morning beach walk on a weekday. So it was not too bust at this popular beach. Enjoyed the lovely walk on the sand. Beach Parks 2 & 3 are further south from here, and I think Park 3 is the best, but is also busier.

Beautiful sandy beach with clear warm waters. If you'd like a calm beach make sure to be there before noon or shortly after sunset. In between, the trade winds are the strongest and churn up the water--perfect for those who enjoy boogie boards. Oh, and avoid umbrellas at that time of the day.

We visited this beach a few times to play beach volleyball - there’s a court on the grass area that fronts S Kihei Rd.
Good net, sand, and wonderful sunsets!!
Also check out the Kinaole food truck if you visit - it’s always parked on Alanui Ke’ali’i which is the road perpendicular to S Kihei Rd.
Enjoy!!

Great spot. Food and drinks right across the road. Great spot to watch sunset. The water is calm and easy in and out. Snorkeling along the south side of the beach is really good. If needed, you can rent chairs and umbrellas in the shops across the road that's an easy walk.

Love the character of this stretch of sandy beach in the central part of Kihei. The beach is lined with sand dunes and shade tree and caters to many locals and tourists but doesn't get overcrowded. The surf here is usually quite gentle on the dry side of south Maui. The beach has great sandy entries to the water and good snorkelling at either end around the lava rock outcroppings. This beach is close to all amenities with good restaurants nearby, Numerous resorts line the south Kihei highway across road from the beach with some resorts on the water side. There is a lifeguard station here. Great place for families to swim, snorkel and picnic.

Loved this beach and only wish we had discovered it earlier in the trip so we could have spent more time there! We arrived early enough (about 9:30) to find super-easy and free parking right across the street. Snorkeling on the left side of the beach (when facing the water) was amazing - out around the rocky point we saw 4 turtles of various sizes! Swam around with a small one, and admired a huge one (150 pounds maybe?) hanging out in the coral. Many fish and beautiful coral. The beach is soft and sandy and great shallow areas for throwing balls, etc. Highly recommend!

Stayed at the Maui coast hotel and this beach park was walking distance. Very clean beach, very walkable and very cool seeing all the swank houses near the beach. Relaxing area. Very safe

Which beach would you recommend for snorkeling with 8 Grandkids ages 5 -14, Ulua or Kamaole ? thanks
Written July 24, 2018
Kama'ole 1 from your 2 choices, depending on the swell. Another great beach to take kids is farther south Keawakapu Beach and directly in front of Manakai. We've been snorkelling there for 40 years.

Is this all sand or some rock on the beach? Thanks
Written April 15, 2018
Not much rocks on the beach but some in the ocean.

Hello,
I am wondering how Kihei compares to Kaanapali? I know Kaanapali has more tourist shops and restaurants, etc.
1) But distance and location wise will I be disadvantaged from other activities on the island?
2) How do the beaches/coastline compare? Kihei beaches don't look as nice online.
Written March 1, 2017
Kihei is a more BoHo type of area not as bustling as Kaanapali and without the huge hotels. It's a boutique-ish kind of town with run eateries, shops and more laid back people. Lots of locals and people who have condos that they visit regularly. For us it's nirvana without any pretenses or packs of tourists. Never crowded on the beaches. Go to Five Palms for happy hour, Fred's for Mexican, Moose's for happy hour, Cafe au Lei for blue plate lunch specials. Health food store: Moon's.

Is there a church or prayer service on Sunday mornings at Kamaole Beach Park !? If so, what time and what denomination? We' like to attend.
Written January 28, 2017
Not sure. we were there for two weeks and saw small gatherings on the beach (Kam 1) on Sunday mornings. Not sure if they were spiritual gatherings or not. Sorry, could not be more helpful. ~Robbie

I need some local advice on overnight street parking around Kamaole Beach Park 1. Going to a resort near by, with one parking spot only assigned. Just for 3 nights. Any idea? I found no information online.

Kihei Kai Nani is reasonably priced for this area, but no A/C. Mostly ceiling fans.

Is anyone there this week? How's the weather? Forecast is showing showers all next 10 days. Been looking forward to our vacation and now kind of bummed due to the weather :(
Written August 26, 2016
The good thing about Maui is that the rain comes and goes quickly. Kihei quite often has sunshine when other areas have rain. If it really does rain for a whole day use that time to tour the Maui ocean centre, it takes a good morning to see it all. I hope you get the vacation you wanted.
