Had 12 wonderful dives with Prodiver Maui. Today was the last dive before returning home but when we return we will be diving again with them. My wife and I were treated very well and professional by the crew of both boats and with over the 30 years of diving would recommend Prodiver Maui.

During these times when tour outfits have to reduce capacity or are out of business, bookings for Dream dives become difficult. After calling Google search dive shops as listed- many were all booked with less technical dive/snorkel trips. Prodiver Maui was recommended by word of mouth, by their fellow dive shops. They were so hospitable and were able to accommodate us! Divemaster Burch was excellent keeping a close eye on us as we dived Reed’s end, circling around the Molokini cone to the volcano’s wall, having a deep blue drop off. It was an amazing and relaxing dive, the music of the humpback whales singing throughout the dive! Dive safety was emphasized and the happy crew added to the enjoyment! MAHALO!

We had an awesome experience with Prodiver Maui. As certified divers we did 4 days (8 dives) while on Maui, and each was a unique experience. Staff was great ( Special shoutouts to Jen, Lizzie, Keone, Mike, and Birch!) They are excellent with safety and briefings, personal attention, and pointing out rare finds and endemic species. Jen was as excited about great finds as we were, and you can hear her giggle and squeal in some our videos! Would definitely choose them again! We did dives on both prodiver II and III, and glad we did both, as we got even more variety, and dive more spots on Molokini. Also love the fact that they use the Kihei boat ramp, as it’s the shortest ride to the crater, and very convenient to where we stay.

We dove 2 days with Prodiver in January. We chose them because of location and good reviews.
First the good: organized check in at the Kihei boat ramp at 6:15 with directions where to park our car for free after dumping off gear.
We were diving back wall of Molokini crater on first dive day with Jen as our dive guide. Jen was friendly and energetic and gave us a good orientation to the dive sites,
She knew the sites well and was able to point out interesting critters.
Jen was photographing while guiding and on one instance, moved coral to get a picture of a harlequin crab, though stated the coral was already dislodged.
It also appeared that she aggressively coaxed an octopus out of its habitat for us to view. Many divers were handling coral and no one seemed to care.
I think Jen is a great guide but needs to respect the coral and sea life and pass that on to her diver guests.
We were asked if we wanted to leave our gear with Prodiver when we returned Sunday since we were diving again with them on Tuesday, They said they would rinse our gear and bring it back to boat for Tuesday dive. We happily agreed.
Tuesday we dove a 3 tank dive with Joe as our captain and Dave as our guide.
Check in was seamless and well organized.
Just to be safe, we asked if our gear was on board, They surmised that it wasn’t there and sent a crew member back to the shop to find our gear.
Crew member finally came back with our wet gear and delayed the trip, but at least we had our gear.
The divers were separated into 2 groups with 2 guides named Davie. Our Dave gave us an adequate orientation to dive sites.
David our guide had a camera and was very interested in taking photos of creatures. At one point he lifted up a big piece of coral, surprising the octopus by completely removing his habitat and the octopus sped off and hid under other coral changing color. David seemed very interested in photos and not looking back too often at his group.
He did point out good things but at the expense of removing, touching coral .
No divers were verbally reminded during orientation to keep hands off of coral and critters.
Captain Joe did a good job of taking us to Perouse Bay on our request and was very good and professional.
In closing, I think ProDiver could improve by making their guides set good examples of environmentally correct diving or there may be anything interesting left to show divers.

They cancelled on us less than 24hrs before saying they didn’t have a captain. Understand this stuff happens, but seemed like they would have known earlier to give us a longer heads up or at least recommend another shop or help us reschedule the dive with someone else. They seemed very disorganized, called saying they had something the next day, when we asked to book that they then realized it wasn’t until two days later, which we couldn’t do as we were headed home. They did refund us right away so you’ll get you money back but may not get to dive.

AVOID Jennifer if you're new to diving. My boyfriend and I booked their introductory class since we both don't have dive licenses. Jennifer is very impatient about our requests and questions, and stopped our introductory class after spending 10 min in the water. When asking if it's possible to reschedule, or get partially refund since we haven't had enough time practicing with the equipments as beginners, Jennifer said it's "impossible for a refund", and yelled us to "TALK TO MY BOSS". Jennifer's boss, the owner of the shop, claimed that we were "rarely bad" among all students in the past 5 years after talking to Jennifer on the phone. Funny thing is, we booked another intro class 2 days after with another dive shop in Maui, and that diving experience went perfectly.

- Suits
This shop: All gears are carried by instructor's small truck to the beach. Jennifer gave me a wet suit that is much larger, but there were no other options. My body could not fully balance underwater, making it hard to swim (I'm a 10+ year swimmer).
Other shop: The first meeting point was their dive shop, where there were tons of suits, masks and shoes for options. The instructor helped to find me 3 suits until getting the perfect size.

- Equipment Testing
This shop: Just put on the BCD and then none. When my boyfriend questioned that his regulator was not giving enough air, Jennifer said " Just try to breath normally, okay? "
Other shop: Check if our BCD are worn properly. Ask us to try on regulators before entering the water, and helped us to adjust the amount of inhaled air (we didn't even know this was adjustable before this time).

As a first time diver, the suitable equipments and the instructor's patience are really important to me, and this shop gives none. More ridiculously, the attitude that Jennifer and her boss talk after we ask for reschedule or refund is unacceptable. If you're just paying money for them to find fish for you, go for it. But if you're new to diving and expecting a wonderful start, there are tons of other dive shops in Maui which might be better for you.

My daughter and I were booked to dive for her Open Water dives (I am already certified). At 6 pm the night before our first dive, they called to postpone by a day (the reason was offshore visibility, which is fair…though they were unwilling to arrange an alternate dive in a better location). We had no choice but to wait…and then the next day they called and indicated the instructor would be unavailable, so they would have to cancel my daughter’s open water dives altogether….but they “ would still be happy to take me out diving without her”!!! Talk about money-focused, not customer focused. If you want reliable service or a service provider that honors their bookings, then don’t go here…they clearly have low scruples in prioritizing new divers like my daughter. What a brutal experience for our trip to Maui and all of my daughter’s course work and pool time to get ready for her open water dives. I truly wish we had picked another firm…at a minimum one that would give us more than a night’s notice on cancellation to try to find alternate plans. If we could give zero stars out of five, we would.

Amazing crew, amazing experience. You won't regret it!
Our instructor was very reassuring, and super knowledgable about diving. He made us feel super safe, and did not pressure anybody to speed up when we were getting into the water.
I did a snorkeling in Molokini + introductory dive session, and it was SO worth it!
I highly recommend!

I believe I have 15 or so dives with Pro Diver Maui. They are nice and professional. This time my husband came along for his first Open Water dive after being certified in SD. We did a boat dive on the back wall of molekini crater, and 2 shore dives (1w/ scooters!) Robin kept us on track with our dives and was so helpful with local tips. Everyone was extremely patient and helpful as we worked on getting our sea legs. And the dive buddies went out of their way to showcase the marine life underwater. Brandon (dive instructor,"buddy") has done the majority of my shore dives with me over the last year. He is really knowledgeable about all the different species and does a great job of giving you information ahead of time so you know what to expect. Worked out well for my newly certified husband. I had a serious mask issue underwater on my first dive this trip. Brandon literally traded masks with me underwater (at 30 feet) so I could have a good experience. Everyone was fantastic! If you dive... and need a buddy... ask for Brandon.
Oh. And the spots we went to were so full of life. 1 Octopus, multiple eels, schools of snapper, moorish idols, butterfly fish, trumpet fish, frog fish, nudibranch, white tip reef sharks and scores more. Yes. Turtles too!! Great outfit. I'll book with them again on my next trip.

If you are looking to boat dive in Maui then do yourself a favor and book with Prodiver. There are several good and bad dive operations in South Maui and none are as professional and organized as Prodiver. I have made several dives with every dive company on Maui (Over 400 dives on Maui) and none are as consistently great every time as Prodiver. If you read their reviews you will see that the only complaint is a cancelled trip. Yes there is nothing worse than a cancelled trip. Salt water destroys boats and even the best maintenance plans can't prevent failure from happening occasionally. When it does often its the day before or the day of the dive and most dive companies are booked and sold out weeks in advance.
