I have travelled extensively and took many trips and tours of different kinds but I'd like to give a special mention the people at Maui Eco Tours, who impressed me with their enthusiasm, knowledge and overall competence that raised a pleasant tour to a fantastic one ! From the booking process all the way through the trip itself, nothing I've done from the Great Barrier Reef all the way to the US East Coast matched up with these guys!

Kayaking and snorkeling with Maui Eco Tours SEAFARI near Lahaina in Maui was the highlight of our trip to Hawaii. Our guide was very knowledgeable and professional. We saw several whales, tons of turtles, and lots of fish. So many turtles and could get so close that even disposable underwater camera took pretty good photos. Our guide had his underwater microphone and we could hear whales singing, an amazing experience being on the water and snorkeling right off the kayak in the ocean. We felt it was a better experience than getting on a big boat (which we've done before) and having them drop you off at a snorkeling site. When we went there were no other boats or kayaks, it was so peaceful like we had the whole ocean to ourselves. And since it was in March, there were many whales to see. We booked online and had no problems. Good directions to meeting site location. A good lunch was provided. Many thanks for making this such a great experience.

My girl friend and I went on the "extreme" trip out to Molokini Crator. Before leaving the beach we were given very detailed instructions on everything from how to paddle to how to get in and out of the kayak while snorkeling. The kayaking portion of the trip was quite a trek, but was well worth the effort. After arriving at the crator, we snorkeled the entire back wall and had it completely to ourselves. The guide was very friendly and knowledgable. He pointed out things that we never would have noticed or been able to see on our own. After the crator, we made our way back to a location close to the beach that we left from for more snorkeling. We were not in the water 2min before seeing several turtles. Once we arrived back to the beach, we were given a snack. This would be my only complaint on this trip. Given that this particular trip is so exhausting, I would expect a bit more food. Definately be prepaired with a lunch of your own after this trip! The entire trip lasted about 5 1/2 hours and was worth EVERY penny! I would not hesitate taking another trip with Maui Eco Tours.

My Husband and I recently took Maui Eco Tours beginner Kayak/Snorkeling trip and had a wonderful time. Our guide, John, was wonderful - his experience and enthusiasm is what made this experience great. He was extremely talented in training a group who had never kayaked before and incredibly informed on the amazing sea life that he discovered for us. This was a great half day trip in Maui and very worth the drive from Kaanapali.

We took an introductory kayak excurstion in November,2005 with Maui Eco Tours. Our guide (Chris) was absolutely awesome! He took the time to show us how to properly navigate the kayak and discuss the fish and creatures we would see. We felt very prepared and comfortable.

The snorkeling was outstanding. We saw so many fish and the turtle cleaning station - - all we can say is 'WOW"! Our guide was extremely knowledgable and took the time to not only point out the various fish and sea life - but he also demonstrated a genuine interest in each of us. He was great with the two youngsters on the trip and also took the time to point out special details about the sea urchins, turtles, and other animals. This was not a 'canned' package - it felt very personal and tailored to the audience.

We have done excursions on every Hawaiian Island - and this is among one of our favorites. We will definitely use Maui Eco Tours again when we visit the Wailea area!

My husband and I went on the Maui Eco Tour when we were in Maui Sept 05. It was one of the highlights of our trip. The kayaking and snorkeling was fantastic. Our guide was very knowledgable and fun to be with. Our trip would have been perfect except for a few details. We were in a group with about four other couples. It would have been fun if the instructor had the couples introduce themselves and tell where they were from. It was odd to spend the day with a group of people without knowing anything about them. I was also disappointed with the food. I pre-ordered a veggie meal and didn't get one. Not a big deal. I thought it would have worked better to have our lunches right after our last snorkel spot and then return to the beach we left from. The tour would have flowed better. In all it was a wonderful way to spend half a day on Maui. We will definitely do the tour when we return.

I booked a kayak whale watching/snorkeling tour with this company. You have the option of taking the tour from two sites, Olowalu or Makena. We opted for Olowalu because there were more whale sightings there and it was close to our hotel in Kaanapali. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate so when we we went to take the tour at 7:30 am we were met by one of their guides named Griff who gave us the bad news. We could certainly understand the safety precautions and Griff was a really nice guy. So we decided to rebook the trip for a few days later in hopes that the weather would improve. In the meantime we booked a surfing lesson with this same company out of Kihei (close to Makena)i. It took us 45 minutes to drive down there and when we got there the people who were going to take us surfing had no knowledge we were coming and said that the surf was really poor anyways and they recommended we save our money. So that was a big waste of our time and also raised concern about how professional this company was. That evening, I received a call informing us that our rescheduled whale watching tour the next morning was to be cancelled again due to weather and that we could take the tour out of Makena if we wanted. No way were we driving down there again so I said to forget about it.. I then decided to try and book this excursion for the following day with another comapny. I had the hotel concierge call South Pacific Kayaks and they said that they had availability to take us out on Friday morning. So I thought this is great! Then when we tried to book it, the tour operator, named Roger, said that he realized which family we were and that he didn't want to take us on the excursion because we had cancelled twice on him. That was some sort of reverse logic because he had actually cancelled on us, understandibly due to weather, but was trying to force us to drive an hour away to a suboptimal location so he could get paid. Apparently Roger is in charge or coordinates Maui Eco Tours, Tiki Adventures, and South Pacific Kayaks. Be aware how this operation is run.

We booked the "XPLORER" trip which is kayaking and snorkeling. It was fun and our guide, Joy, was the BEST! She made the kayaking and snorkeling easy and fun. I felt very safe with her in the water with us. She pointed out fish, coral and other sea life and was very knowledgable and nice. We saw an octopus, sea turtles, all kinds of fish, star fish, etc. etc. It was really great...I wouldn't go snorkeling without Maui Eco Tours!

My husband and I did the WHALES kayak and snorkel trip. Neither of us had kayaked before but it didn't matter. We didn't have any whales come up too close to us but we still had an amazing time! The guides (John and Chris) were very knowledgeable about kayaking, whales, snorkeling, and sealife in general. They helped make this trip memorable for us! We highly recommend this outfit and if we come back to Maui, we will do this again!

We had a scheduled trip on 4/23 which was cancelled due to weather conditions and we were told by the guides that we could re-sign up for another trip later that week. They even gave us a brochure with trip options and asked that we call in to do the trip.

I called numerous times over the next couple of days, finally managed to a machine and left messages detailing what I wanted to do. I left a call back number, and there was absolutely no response. We left Maui without doing the trip.

Their customer service via email is very quick, but who has easy email access while they're on vacation? My experience may have been out of the norm, but it still left a bad taste.

My name is Richard Lomas, and I'm the company president. I would like to respond to this comment from the customer with a sincere apology. The guest is absolutely right in that during the time period in question we were understaffed and phone support did suffer as a result of weather cancellations, new bookings and general customer care issues all coming in at once via phone. That said, it was unacceptable and I would like to apologize on behalf of our organization. I wish mistakes wouldn't happen, but they do and we try our best to learn from them. In addition, to add on to what the customer in question mentioned, this is one of the many reasons that we exclusively our the only activity company that does not charge a credit card until a trip actually happens. Even though we got bogged down and weren't able to get back to this guest, I'm sure he/she would agree that it was at least nice to know that we weren't holding any of their money while they attempted to get through to us. Once again, I'd like to re-iterate that we pride ourselves on both our excellent adventures as well as our customer service and that this was definitely the exception, not the rule. If there are any questions pertaining to this issue, please simply call [--] and ask for me (Richard) or simply e-mail me direct at [--] Mahalo and we hope to see you soon!
