I had a great experience with Complete Kite Boarding. Both Troy and Paul are excellent instructors. I was a complete beginner and the beach they use is perfect because it’s away from all the crowds and there’s lots of room to learn without worrying about...More
Troy was just the right person to get me kiting. I had had a few introductory lessons in Melbourne and some body dragging sessions before getting to Maui. Troy’s style of teaching was calm, methodical, logical and very visual which worked so well for me....More
My wife and I had lessons with Troy 2 years ago already, and made great progress. Back on Maui again, we took more lessons, now being a good notch better and so he taught us some neat turns, starting jumps, etc. Safe and fun and...More

Mahalo to Troy from Complete Kiteboarding! What a fantastic teacher, I would highly recommend him from the initial contact, arranging to meet, reliability and flexibility. As far as the lessons themselves Troy's knowledge of kiteboaring is obvious and he has a great method of instruction,...More
Troy is a great teacher and focused on my needs at my current level of kiteboarding. I highly recommend for someone like me who is climbing from beginner to intermediate level and intimidated by high wind conditions like we had during my stay in Maui.
By far the best lesson I've had. One lesson with Troy was worth more to me than several lessons elsewhere. I was able to quickly and confidently gain the knowledge needed to do everything from manage the kite in changing wind conditions to quickly advance...More
My wife and I found Troy through his web site, and among several other instructors he distinguished himself right off the bat (before we even met) with his flexibility and willingness to adapt to our schedule and needs. We alternated taking lessons and we both...More
I've been kiteboarding for a couple years and I wanted to progress a bit more. I took a two hour lesson with Troy to work on getting upwind better. Mission accomplished, and even better is that he taught me how to boost into the air....More

I couldn't answer you with confidence unless I know what your knee and spinal problems are. I have broken my back skiing and have two bad knees but I still ride hard. The sport can have lift and be anti-gravity. That being said, it seems that often the little twists or turns tend to be the ones that really can dibilitate you. My gut feeling is that if you are worried about being hurt, you're body will tense up and you will be prone to be injury. If you do try the sport, take your time. Master flying two and four line stunt kites before you take a kite boarding lesson.
