You can learn to surf! We help families, kids, and beginners learn to surf and have fun in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii. Located near Wailea. Learn to surf with friendly, patient, encouraging, and knowledgeable instructors. The gentle break of the wave and semi-shallow water makes this one of the best places to learn to surf. Surf lessons are two hours and all equipment is included (boards, reef shoes, rash guards). Monday – Saturday in the morning. Private, semi-private, and group surf lessons available. You can also book multiple-day surf lessons and progress your surf skills. Lessons are located at Kalama Park with Waves Hawaii. Bring your family and friends to surf with you or to watch. There is onsite parking, public restrooms, outdoor showers, a walking path, a playground, plus cafes and restaurants across the street. Book early for peak family travel seasons (Spring, Summer, and Winter Breaks) as lessons can book up weeks in advance. Email, call, or text to Book Now!

My son is ten . He was born and raised on Maui. I saw Eddie giving a surf lesson at the Cove in Kihie as I was trying to each my son to surf. I was instantly attracted to him as a teacher. He was such a patient, kind, fun and safe surf instructor. I knew that he was the surf instructor for my son.
On the first surf lesson my son took, Eddie had him standing and riding waves right away. That was thrilling for both my son and I. The most impressive thing about Eddie as a teacher is that he keeps his students safe in the water. He instructed my son not just how to catch and ride waves, but on how to paddle over and around the waves, and how to stay out of other surfers way. I would greatly recommend Eddie as a surf instructor for children. The best I have ever seen, and I have seen plenty.

Surf Yoga Maui is absolutely amazing. My two sons, who are 10 & 12 , and I decided to take our first surf lessons. I came across Surf Yoga Maui on a google search, and I’m so happy we did. They are a small family business. Summer, who I corresponded with, was readily available to get us going and to answer all our questions. Her husband, Eddie, was are instructor. He has been teaching surf lessons in Maui for 14 years. He was patient and encouraging. He gave great directions and always had our safety in mind. My boys got up within 2 tries. He even went out of his way to make sure a big guy like me, with poor flexibility, got up. It was a blast, and to see the smiles on my boys faces and the confidence they gained, made it all worthwhile.

We loved our surf lesson with Surf Yoga Maui. Eddie was extremely helpful and nice as was everyone working with him. He was great with our 6 year old son and had him surfing on his own by the second day. We hope to come back and take more lessons in the future!

Surf Yoga Maui & Eddie are the best! I have always wanted to surf in Maui and they made it happen. Learning to surf again later in life was easy & fun because of their knowledge and friendly approach. Eddie is a great coach he knows the area better than anyone, he makes you and everyone around feel comfortable and confident. Highly recommend for Adult or Child, if you want to learn to surf in Maui do it with Eddie and Surf Yoga!

Wonderful time on the water. Eddy was an excellent instructor - he ensured that we had a super fun time surfing and kept us safe on the water. I also really appreciated the rash guard and longer shorts as they saved us from serious sunburn and chaffing. When they ask if you want the shorts, take them.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Surf Yoga - they were fantastic!

My very first surf lesson was with Eduardo at Surf Yoga Maui 8 ish years ago ... and now I make it a priority to repeat every time I travel to Maui. Eddie is a patient and encouraging teacher, whether you just want to try surfing and have fun ... or get better, like me always surfing just 1-2 times a year. Book a private to get the most from your time and you may discover you love it ...

Eddie was a great instructor. My daughter was nervous but he was very patient and fun. She was able to stand up and surf a couple times but then just wanted to ride on her stomach and watch sea turtles too. She didn't Think it would be fun but actually had a great time. We all did—and all got to practice surfing for the first time. Highly recommend!

Surf Yoga Maui was fantastic. Easy booking, clear directions and waiting for us on arrival at 9 am. My 18 yo son and I did lessons at 9 am with Eddie. He was fantastic from start to finish. Went over a few safety details, did onshore instruction and then the 3 of us hit the water (it was not a private lesson but we were the only ones). We were up and surfing in minutes and had countless runs on the boards. Eddie was great to visit with in between waves and gave tons of advice on everything from surfing to dining to activities on Maui.

We had a great time with Eddie. It was the first lesson for my two sons, ages 15 and 21 and they started riding the waves within the first 5 mins in the water. Eddie provided a technical lesson and surf etiquette at the beach before going to the water, then he was coaching and providing feedback while the boys were on the water. Always with a smile and good attitude and energy. Summer was great at the phone explaining everything very clearly. Would definitely doing it again with them.

My 3 daughters, (and one friend) and I tried surfing for our very first time through Surf Yoga Maui. Eddie was amazing...extremely patient, caring and fun! We enjoyed it so much that we booked a second lesson with him and were amazed at how quickly we impoved. Eddie knew exactly how to help each one of us improve our skills and was very encouraging. His wife Summer handled all the logistics and was very easy to work with. I highly recommend Surf Yoga Maui!

We will be coming from a cruise ship - is this located near the port? Would uber be an option?
Aloha! Surf lessons are located in Kihei at Kalama Park. If you are coming into the port at Kahului it is guesstimately 25 minutes by car. And yes, Ubers are on option. Almost everything was closed on the island this last year so I missed seeing this question on here until now.
