We paddle with Uncle Kimokeo on the visitor paddle around 7 am for novice and 5am for competition paddlers right out of the fishpond - I've heard but havent met a young tiger shark around 5 feet long that hangs in that area - but have met a few whales in the area with their babies. The young tiger sharks... More

We had found the Ko'ie'ie Fishpond Cultural Canoe Tour while researching for our vacation, and thought it sounded exciting...let me just say the 3 or so miles that you paddle can be a little strenuous at times, but you can always lay off the paddling, after all your on vacation. The genuine love for the culture and Maui can be... More

We have brought family and friends the last three canoe tours and all have loved it. An enriching educational experience for people of all ages that are interested in Hawaiian culture. You won't be disappointed!

We signed up for the Cultural Fishpond Tour mainly for the opportunity to try paddling an outrigger canoe, but it ended up being much more than that, because we learned so much about Hawaiian culture and even ancient Polynesian methods of navigation by the stars. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his heritage and familial legacy as... More

I first read about this tour in "Maui No Ka Oi Magazine." Had difficulty with the online payment, but contacted the lovely Joylynn at their offices and managed to do a payment through Paypal. Know that this is a small community organization of dedicated people who are passionate about sharing Hawaiian Culture. The tour with Vene started at 8 am... More

If you want to learn about the Hawaiian culture and history this makes for a great experience. Vene was our guide and has a passion and love of Hawaii. The outrigger was great, a windy day and we plowed through the waves having a great time!

Vene was our guide and he was the BEST! We learned a lot of Maui history and learned about asking the Gods permission to enter the water - it was very spiritual. There were 10 of us so we were in the double hulled outrigger and off we went through the Kings Pond. The ocean was very calm so we... More

My name is Vene and I wanted to share pictures of us paddling outside the walls of the fishpond into the open ocean. Prior to our launch on several canoes we had an opportunity to snap some photos of us before approaching a pod of whales! It was an epic morning:)

I did this on my birthday, one of my best birthday memories ever. Vene is an excellent tour guide, he shares his extensive knowledge of Hawaiian culture and history and is very passionate about his culture and ancestors. The paddling is challenging, but really fun. I highly recommend this if you are in Maui.
